Haines Hunter have been famous for their capable off-shore and rough-weather performance. The 650R really proved this. The boat stayed ontop of the waves like no other boat we've ever been in. It was so much softer than expected in these kinds of conditions.
Not even the drone could handle these conditions!

I owned the 2010 650R that was Trailer Boat of the Year! Best boat I’ve ever owned, coupled with a 250 Yammie. Had to sell it due to a whack up, purchased a 585R and again a ripper thing.. sold it and now considering another 650R or a 675 Enclosed.. Haber builds the best boat in the land.. Great things and I’ve never lost a $$ on one yet. They just love to be driven hard

Some will prefer composite as it will last forever, on the other hand timber is heavy and has great acoustics, arguably quieter and more solid feeling hulls, probably why HH still uses it.

Just laziness to be still using timber, Cruise Craft were up until a few years ago, where 5 year old boats were coming in with rotten transoms... Timber has no place in modern fibreglass boats of this size

@@rp3874 Something isn't right if a transom is rotting 5 years from new. Different builders, different construction techniques. Composites are not hard, even cheap hulls coming out of China have composite stringers. I tend to think if a company of HH's size and legacy are using timber, it's by choice.

Free tee shirt for you wise man HH offer both it’s up to you There plenty of composite boats with major separation problems Due to Fibreglass not adhering to composites really need to drill hole’s through composites to ensure it won’t happen

The stringers are fully incapsulated in fiberglass so you would need to be drilling holes under floor to be a problem. Any other timber structure fails due to poor fit up and any penetration not being sealed . As stated wood creates less noise and a softer ride . Also store your boat out of the weather!

@@rp3874 if it's 5 years old and rotting then something else is wrong. i've worked on plenty of glass over ply/strip plank that were 40+ years old and still good as new. glass over wood is also far easier to repair than just plain glass.

Im from VIC, down the road from HH...(beautful weather here today, we got plenty snapper atm & oh the TUNA barrels have been on fire with 100kg landed daily lately). Awesome factory, Awesome vessel, love the commentary, Have fitted plenty of 650 and the rest of the line with Yamahas and yes they are a perfect match... bout time QLDers start really pushing HH, John will be happy!
