This video covers the absolute best small business idea for black women in 2024. Hair business is big business and we talk all things hair in this video.
WOW! Several years ago I had a caucasian supervisor who adopted a black child. She often came to me for advice and I gave her a lot of info about her hair and how to care for it. You mean to tell me I could have charged her for that!?!🤯
As a 51 year old women who is nearing retirement, I have been thinking of ways to establish another stream of income. Your channel has opened my eyes to the possibilities. However, fear and procrastination has stopped me in my tracks. Your content continues to light a fire under me. I know I need to just start and try. It reminds me of the quote that I love... You don't have to be great to get started, you have to get started to be great. I need to just start and try. Continue to teach and inspire!
You just have to take one step for step 2 to reveal itself. One foot in front of the other and let each new skill or mistake lead the way. I am learning so much and enjoying it a lot.
Years ago my friends adopted a black child. i hadnt finished this video and i had a thought about helping non black people groom their black adoptive children. I need to implement that. Thanks for the info.
I've been wanting to do an ebook since I'm in the hair industry but couldn't quite get it together. 30 minutes after watching this video, I saw the light. I have my outline and ready to expound. Thanks much.
Not necessarily because the Asian community has the wholesale purchasing on lock! I know 2 black owned suppliers and they both complain about not being able to get certain products in their store!
@@Choosenofthemallsame here! This blk couple in the neighborhood was struggling, they had to shut down. I befriended them and I am now working with them to open back up a beauty supply store, but put small blk business products in there instead. It’s better quality, handmade, and better ingredients. Blk women have been taking hair care very serious over the last few years so they are now creating great products. I believe that couple will be successsful. It will be a beauty supply store that also has cosmetics
@@Choosenofthemall yep. They make it hard for us to get products. We had a blk one in my city but all the products were natural and so expensive. Good idea but it was in the hood so the women always frequented the Asians. We are up against a lot of obstacles but if Blk women pooled our funds more and helped one another, we could do it
All of your ideas are amazing but I love the diversity and inclusion and classes for adopted black children ideas the most, just brilliant!!! I want to give the diversity and inclusion idea a go!!! ❤
Thank you Vanessa for so many inspiring videos. I just need a bit more information on where to start. I am SOOO interested in a video on growing a personal brand Please. For years I have seen little girls who needed my help with their hair. I just didn't want to offend their parents by asking them if I could be of service for them. I haven't braided hair in years now, though I wouldn't mind doing children's hair to help their self-esteem and their parents out. I want to start my own business ASAP. By 2024 I would like to NOT work for anyone else. Please continue giving us these videos. THANK YOU
Great video, inspired, thank you, been really interested in finding ways to work within the Black hair product market, the video has really helped uk!!!
Im watching from Barbados 🇧🇧. Loving your content. Id love to hear more ideas that can work in my area. (Caribbean) Thanks for sharing your knowledge.😊
Fantastic video, black people helping black people is the business to get into. My trichology led RU-vid videos and business does exactly that and I feel fulfilled. ❤
I had subscribed to your channel awhile ago because I was inspired by a couple of your videos. You slipped out of my algorithm, but TODAY you showed up. I am interested in creating a brand and your ideas are awesome! I extremely like the diversity and inclusion option. Also, the people that follow this platform seems to genuinely care and want people to successfully succeed.
I absolutely love this video. Can you believe I was just refreshing myself with DEI and to hear you speak about it CHILE. I'm empowered. I'm betting on myself this year and forever. Ty
Thank you for this. I have been trying to think of directions to go in the hair industry that will not include being in the salon anymore. Time to use my degrees along with my passion.
This is such a valuable video. Thanks for challenging me. I've been Natural for seven years and trying to create awareness for young sisters like me online and offline, especially in Nigeria. It is not easy getting the support you need to push my brand. That's why I recently started my RU-vid channel. God bless you! 😊
I am a diversity and inclusion manager and I love your ideas. February is black history month and we have plenty of events planned. Keep up the good work!!! Love it. ❤
You’re a valuable assets to the BW community thank you for the awesome content. I would love a video on branding business using social media, especially LinkedIn. Many thanks ❤
I'm in South Africa and I love your content always, this "neh" is hey for slang so it's mind-blowing, You Killed It HHHHHMMMM Kindly assist with more on building a brand and how to manage the payment component thereof as I will not be the hairdresser in terms of doing the actual job of braiding, plaiting, etc. Big Luv, Godspeed, and Tx
🇿🇦 was just browsing and came up to you 😊. I’m looking for a new business ideas for the new year to add to my 8 streams of income……Great content , keep it up , to more wealth 🥂
Something similar that I see often in Jamaica, it's where a person owns the salon and employs a lot of hairstylists and others in the cosmetology field (nail techs, barbers etc) but they're not actually working there. Another thing that I see is that, someone would rent the space to those in the Cosmo field ONLY. So basically, instead of employing them, it's a hub of hairstylists working in a space. And they basically pay rent for their "chair" - which is basically their corner of the salon
Congratulations on going natural! I've been natural since 2010 and started my business as an Expert Traveling Natural Hair Care Incubator, Health and Life Coach and CEO of Spirals Kinks N Coils LLC. Don't stress too much about hair types depending on how your styling it really doesn't matter too much m to learn it all for your day to day just learn your hair. Understanding your Porosity will help you more along your journey cause that tell you what your hair needs more of and what products will help you achieve that!! Feel free to reach out anytime I'll share all my knowledge with you! (Some good hair info also on my channel)
Thank you so much. This video was right on time.🤗 I'm a certified cosmetologist and I was considering a few of these to launch. Still considering if I should start now or January.🇯🇲💖
Degree required to partner with corporate brands in regards to diversity inclusion? I’m a hair care professional with 27 years of experience. I’m looking to pivot!
I would love to book a session with you and discuss a small business I’m going to launch. I’m currently writing the business plan. Do you provide a service to review business plans?

I would love help on building a brand! I have many ideas. This video was soo interesting...I didn't want it to end lol knowledge is power💜 I want a platform where I can be a light and vessel to pour in to the world...your channel is definitely a ray of inspirational light for me...Thank You!!
Hi guys I actually have a black owned hair care store and would really appreciate your support, whether that's watching and liking my videos or purchasing my products! I made it in order to support my own (black women, men and babies), but I'm not really getting support from my own.
Figure out your hair porosity and take care of your hair according to that. GAME CHANGER!!! For example, I have low porosity hair, so daily I use the LCO method. Weekly, I pre-poo with rice water. Then I wash, then deep condition and steam. Then, regular condition. Once a month, I do a bentonite clay mask followed by a clarifying shampoo.
Whether you wanna be a fierce naturalista or a straight natural like me, heat protectant and baby your ends between washes. Nothing makes you lose length faster than split ends and heat damage, but you’re hair can dry out and break too (learned than while keeping it in pin curls but no bonnet while dealing with an extended Sickle Cell crisis). Ofc you don’t need to use heat, but if you do want to and you’re careful, you can minimize the damage. I also implemented other things my beautician does, like steam treatments, deep condition abs I baby my ends with a light oil every few days for retention. My hair has been less than 3 in from waist length but I had to cut it because of heat damage trying to stretch the time between appointments. There are other ways to keep hair stretched! My favorite is pincurls. Now I’m about six inches from waist length and only flatiron ONCE after applying protectant liberally! One last tip, use hair shears if you wanna trim yourself. I used regular scissors because I couldn’t find the shears and my hair spilt along the cut (only my bangs split and I’d only cut them, so I knew it was the scissors). LAST time doing that! Happy growing!
I am very glad for such a great content, sharing ideas about how to start hair businesses. And I will like to share with others who are interested in starting their business around and are not financially stable to start, I can recommend to you a grant agent.who actually made me what I am today.
