I can’t express enough how immensely phenomenal these visual aids are that you started to include in your videos in recent years. They’re so helpful! You and cameraman doing the Lord’s work! 😄 a lot of nail work has so much technique involved with angles. This can make a huge difference in how good something comes out. I also like how in one video you had a visual of how big and small the apex gets depending on the nail length. Seriously I am grateful for the visual aids you and cameraman man provide. Wish there were NCE Nail Career Education textbooks with all that in it
I can't wait for the fill video!! I absolutely love that your a professional in the field teaching us how to DIY... with the most comforting voice ever!! I have come so far in my nail game because of you ❤ and I was never able to lead such a beautiful nail life prior to your post covid videos 😊
So glad you're doing more videos on full cover tips! Since 2018, I made the progression from using glue on tips to cover my bitten nails, to growing my natural nails out and using those, to experimenting with hybrid gel and using forms and popits, to ironically... going back to full cover tips, but now of the gel application variety. Not having to deal with nail breaks is so wonderful, but getting to that 2-4 week mark where they start to lift a bit at the cuticle is just SO frustrating!
This is the area that i focus on the most. When i was going to the salon this would happen and i would run to the salon to get it fixed. But now that i do my own nails i file and clean it up, add top coat or fix the polish and go. Thanks to Suzie's videos u have the issue less and less! THANKS SUZIE ❤
That very thing with my hair has been happening these last few days! I did my first full cover hybrid gel nails two weeks ago and, because life gets in the way a bit at times, I won't really get chance to redo them till next weekend, so I'll see what I can do around my cuticles in the meantime. I have a couple of your drill bits but not the longer, thin one - that's on my next shopping list, along with a pot of your EZ Gel Pink Mix and a few more bits. Thanks Suzie for being so informative with such a lovely, calming voice as always! 😊
Some times I can't believe you actually teach these things for free! I could never clean up my cuticle growth without ending up having to take off most of my nails until this video, and I've been doing my nails for years. One of the other nails experts on RU-vid has always been insistent that you shouldn't use your efile on low speed so I always sped it up and it would rip my nails and cuticles to shreds if I had any lifting or chips and I'd have to redo instead of fill. It's so painless now I slowed it down (and used the bit you recommended)!!
I love your videos so much! I’ve only ever used regular nail polish on my natural nails but finally got the confidence to buy a gel color starter kit because of you. You’re a wonderful teacher. With your help I’m continuing to increase my skill level and I look forward to trying new techniques and mediums as my confidence and knowledge increases. Thank you for everything you do!
@@NailCareerEducationI was a convinced _WE DON' T CURE HERE_ 😤🙅🏻♀️person. Thanks to you, I started with the jelly sandwich justifying myself with the excuse "well, it doesn' t touch the nail directly😌" and nowadays, here I am: builder gel, rubber base, crazy cat eyes with multiple magnets,... As a MUA, I wish so bad that I could give you back all the knowledge you' ve teached me all these years. *MANI* 💅🏼 *THANKS, SUZIE* 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Awesome video thank you Suzie & Cameraman for the graphics & great close ups.. loved the waves on the beach analogy!! I only use pre-art'd (pre-designed) tips on myself as a tech.. time! Looking fwd to the in-fill video 📹 💅 xx
This is something I had to learn through trial and error. It tickles me so much to know what I've been doing is the right thing. Even though I've been doing my own acrylics/sns acrylics at home for several years now I've just recently gotten better at the cuticle area. Like after 5ish years or so I've gotten better just over this year. And I still sometimes need to go back after a week or so to file that ridge down at the cuticle. I absolutely love you and all of the knowledge you share with us! I always learn something new and/or learn that what I do is right.
Suzie! Please tell us how you keep your nail beds healthy when you do your nails so often. I suspect mine are damaged due to the acetone and chemicals. Yours always look amazing! Please help?
Hi Susie! I love your videos so much! I am learning to do my own nails, and you have answered every one of my questions! You are absolutely so good at what you do and thank you for sharing that with us! Plus you seem like the nicest person in the world!
YAYYYY!! I'm so excited for the fill video! Full cover tips have been such a revelation for me, but I'm lost when it comes to keeping them maintained. I can't wait for you to show me how, Suzie!
I've spent so long doing nails, and so much time when we were in school pacticing on clients and models - that this is so second nature to me, I almost forget this is a problem for new techs and students or even at home artists.
Ms. Suzie- I am SO HAPPY I FOUND YOUR PAGE! This is the very thing I struggle with and I love getting all these tricks from you! I’m hoping to attend a course from you soon if you are ever near my area ❤
I'm having this exact problem today. 😂 I didn't have time to do my nails for about a month, redid them yesterday and definitely got too close to the cuticle, so I'll be following your advice to fix them up today 😅
I figured parts of this out the hard way…Thank you Suzie for your information. I find that sliding the tip down just a teeny bit before curing then hit it lightly with the e efile on that lip close to the cuticle with only getting 2 nail bit bites on my left hand which is dumb because I’m right handed. 😂. Suzie I’ve been subscribed to you for like 8 years! You gave me the courage to attempt doing my own. I’m STILL terrified of monomer 🙀
Thanks again for a wonderful and thoughtful video to help our N.C.E. lol I legitimately think that your videos have taught me nearly everything I know! Saving us heartache, a video at a time! :P
Ooh, Suzie, I tried foils for the first time this week! You're so right, MUCH thinner than stickers and even water decals, which I thought were skin-thin, but I was wrong. Foils are definitely superior. *QUESTION:* Your products are HEMA-free, right? I'm on a HEMA-free kick, and I'm trying out HEMA-free products over time. Because I'm immunocompromised from medication, I'm trying to be more careful. The hack in this video - also VERY useful! Thank you! I get hair caught in my nails after a week or two post-mani, and this hack really works!
i wish you had more affordable options as well. so much love for you and your content, i just can’t afford anything you have to offer as i’m trying to learn and get some good products. 😢
Hi. Thank you for letting us know it’s ok if this happens, and how to correct it. I’ve been doing my own nails, acrylic, since lockdown, March 2020, I’m still rubbish 😢I wish you lived in the uk. I’m rubbish at all of it. Especially the cuticle. Your videos are great. 😊
Maybe another tip I can add that I do myself 😊 I put the tips on about 2mm out from the cuticle and then fill in the gap with builder gel, this way they will last a long time, and no need to file anything in the interim because then with gel you can get in close and thin without a ridge when they grow out, then you can put your designs on without thinking about filing it in a week 😉
I got my nails done then 1 week later I had to braid my hair and with evey movement hair would get caught and rip out some polish. Over and over again,,, i couldn't even put my hair in a bun without it getting stuck and pulling. So i just filed the ridges. But since I'd filed off the top coat, the polish lifted whenever I took a bath. I decided to just do my nails at home to quickly fix anything
I have this happen once and awhile! I got a cheap kiss nail station a couple years ago at CVS. It came with a rechargeable hand drill it works perfectly to smooth down the growth between fills. I tend to see that it grabs hair or fuzz and it seems like it's moreso the topcoat that's making my ledge. I'd love to finally figure it out.
THANK YOU!!! My BIGGEST pet peve is my hair getting caught and ripping out!! I've had it happen within a day or two. I don't understand why the gals I go to won't get mine smoother.
What if you did this on your initial application? If you set the full cover tip just a smidge away from the cuticle and then blended it before you proceed to “decorate” it? Will that work, or do you lose out on filling it later?
That’s ok - I’m so glad you actually saw the need of what you need to do and you’re trying to figure it out on your own. But always remember I am here with every single topic to help you with.
What about nail wrap stickers? I have the same problem of getting my hair stuck when I use nail wrap stickers (semi-cured or full cured, makes no difference) on my real nails, after a week or so from application (I do not ever do any kind of tip/press-on/fake nail, just polish/gel polish/dip powder/nail foil/nail wrap stickers on my real nails).
Hi Suzie, my issue with any fake nails is the separation of the product from the natural nail at the free edge (that´s where my hair gets stuck). I DO always cap the edge, I even started curing the edge, but the capping always comes off, and since I don´t usually extend, but only reinforce my natural nails, this is why my nails don´t last. Any tips? Thank you for all your work!
I suspect your nails may curl as they grow off the free edge - causing separation from product ( with out seeing it of course ) if so that’s natural All you can do is remove natural nail if you continue wearing them - which is totally ok to do
You certainly could - but most people like it very close to maximize the grow up time. When you this ledge is created, it’s only when you’re first starting and you don’t have the skills to file that cuticle. But that’s why most people use full cover tips because they don’t have sculpting skills. This video is a workaround until those skills are developed.
This is the way I do it - file the enhancement thin at that end, put it on a little ways from the cuticle, and apply polish. This way the polish covers up the edge and applies as one layer all over with very little space if any at the cuticle, leaving everything smooth. As a plus I've found my nails are less likely to lift this way because no matter how well I prep, gel polish seems to adhere to my nails better than full cover tips.
How can I tell my nail tech this keeps happening (lifting and too thick all over really but particularly around the cuticle. I don’t want to hurt her feelings but I’ve mentioned a few times about thinning the acrylic out and hair getting caught under the lifted areas, plus she knows there’s a problem because she always has to take off chunks that have lifted
Honestly she just hasn’t learned the skills. But she first has to acknowledge she NEEDS to learn those skills. I’m always trying to tell techs to be honest and revisit their skills and be open to looking at improving rather than blaming the client
This feeling is level nails scratching a chalkboard with added physical pain on the scalp. Raaaaaage😖😣😤🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬!!!!! That' s why my nail rest day is the same than the hair wash day. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
After you did the top coat there was a little hair and I couldn’t help but laugh because we are talking about preventing hair from getting stuck in the nails but a little hair was there lol and then it was gone once you hit it with the wooden stick
Lol yes it was funny after I watch this video back before we uploaded. I noticed that stupid little hair. Unfortunately, we have 8+ cameras filming at all different angles, but I am only looking at it from one angle. So sometimes the camera will catch something that I can’t.
I deeply appreciate that you don't cut the cuticles, I won't watch creators that do it, it makes me feel physically ill to watch cuticle cutting, it's so gross, thank you.
This is a lifting or cracking issue And you’re not the one who should really be doing anything technique wise. Your technician should be trying to figure this out. And if they don’t after you inform them or if they blame you, you need to find another one.
I just love your videos so much Suzie! These are always so helpful. May I ask what is that glittery product you have used with these nails? Greetings from Finland!
One time, my hair got caught while shampooing and when I tugged it it out, it broke in the nail and left like a 0.5cm hair IN the nail and I could see it showing through my nail. Had to use a tweezer to pull it out 😂
Every time I see someone push back or cut their cuticle... I cringe :') I have oversensitivity issues and if you touch my cuticle, you can be sure I'm in pain. That is why I'm scared to get my nails done at a salon. (Belgium)
I’m a couple months late to the party but … I’ve been doing my own dip powder for about 18 months. I always thought when my hair is getting caught it means it’s starting to lift. Then I feel I have to remove everything because I worry about moisture getting underneath potentially causing fungal growth etc. or the dip layers will completely rip off and damage my real nail. Have I misunderstood this whole time?
This video is troubleshooting for those who are new to tips. This video is the reality to how tips actually look when we do them with little or no skills
From the thumbnail, this looks like a terrible problem to have. 🤣I haven't worn acrylics since high school prom and being bridesmaids a few times. I forget how even when growing out, the raised nail beds from having acrylics, even with just tips, would get caught on random fabric snags and send me into a panic, worried that my whole nail would come off. 🥹
Yes, they are all pretty much tapered but the problem is it’s such a fine area and it needs to be so smooth. All you need to do is just a little bit of filing and you can get it that way.
