I have worn extensions off and on over the last 10 years. I shower with them in, curl, flat iron, color my hair as I would normally. Keep in mind though the less you wash your hair the better the extensions last and stay in. I usually wash my hair once a week and use dry shampoo in between to make sure it doesnt get greasy
Hi Tori, no it doesnt ruin your hair as long as you use a glue remover to take them out. I would apply a glue remover and let set with a shower cap on for about and hour. Then was your hair a couple of times and the extensions should slide right out. If there is any left over glue residue use 99% rubbing alcohol to remove the sticky residue from the glue. Then deep condition your hair. If you follow these steps you will not have hair loss or damage. Just DO NOT pull the tracks out.
Thanks to your videos, I am saving a lot of money doing my own extensions. My husband and family think that my hair looks even better than having it down at the salon. The time and money I save, Wow!! I just can't thank you enough for your help ((hugs))!!
MizzezTurtle gave you some good advice, rubbing alcohol also gums the glue up and helps it slide right out of your hair.. just make sure you condition well after this
it depends on what glue you use, the gold bond weave glue stays in about 4-6 weeks.. yes you can swim and shower with them.. but I have to tell you that the more water you get on your scalp, the faster they come out because it make the glue breakdown. Also be careful and condition your extensions well if you swim because the chemicals and stuff in the water will dry your hair out fast and make it gross
@@Ilikeoatmealmorethanyou Those were the instructions from the manufacturer on how to put them in back then. It's how we used to do it back in the day. Hair extensions have come a long way since this video was made. IF YOU WOULD NOTICE THE DATE....I think this was made back in 2011...and I can totally relate to this...because I started doing hair extensions on myself back in 2009 and those were the instructions back then. And they were just fine back then. Yes...now you would put them 1 inch or so below the hairline....but not back then. Clips never even existed you could only glue or weave from what I remember.
yay! your model looks ahmaaazing!! i'm glad i found your video a lot of videos on how to glue in extensions are like, step 1, glue in hair, step 2, voila you're done! and i'm just like... uhh what? so thank you!!!
Thank u. Chemo took my hair and I am so tired of wigs. The wig cap makes my head feel hot. She looks sooo pretty!!! You're a great person for helping her. She just wants to be loved and lookin like that I'm sure everyone loves her now . She gotta put her phone on mute lol 😂❤❤❤
Sally's have got great extentions, they only sell them as clip-in though. So you have to cut away the clip yourself by hand and you might have to make the pieces a little bit less wide. But all thats easy and totally worth it!
I like clip ins, but I would Love a more "perm" method. I hate having to take them out, since I wear them 100% of the time!! My hair thinned out from bleaching & I have 1 kidney & when Im taking meds its thins my hair, ughh lol. Its easier to blend & hide ext. W/ darker hair, I was thinking of going med Brwn..? But , i guess you do prefer GLUE in method vs Tape- I had no idea tape ruined your hair? I really thought the GLUE would..? Thanks so much for ur help! Your a Doll :) xx
I agree with you 100% I glue my extensions always. Take is horrible. I had a client who insisted on the take method. it trashed her hair and pulled it out by the chunks. There is not enough support for the weft, typically you pay a lot more for what you get if you use tracks. I do not like tape method
Hi, I do bleach my hair. My natural color is a lighter medium brown w/ auburn tones ( hate red in my hair!!- always use ASH/GREEN base to get it out!! ) . I have used Clip in extensions for over 15 yrs. Many many brands! Lol- i have learned so much about hair ( ext.hair!)...
its best to flat iron your hair and it will blend better, also if you plan to wear them for an extended period of time you might want to run thinning shears thru the tips of them so it blends all together better. Thats what I do with mine. Also it is better to try and match the extension hair to your own texture the best you can, like if your hair is wavy get wavy or curly and vice versa
You prefer the "glue in" method rather than the "tape in"?? Seems everyone is taping in wefts now, I haven't seen a Glue in vid in years. Is this way better than tape in? Thanks for any help! :)
I am not sure how fast your hair will grow with Biotin, I am not a dr, I just know it works. It makes it grow faster and stronger. Have you tried it yet?
Hello Roc! I just want to say that you did an amazing job! I want to glue in extensions myself, but I don't have anyone that can help me. So I was just wondering how difficult is it to do it by yourself? How can you tell what you're doing? Thanks!
well you can do a few things. it really depends on how often you wash and flat iron your hair. If you put in straight extensions then you will need to flat iron your hair to make them blend in. I would make sure you condition your ends and hair good. Be sure to braid or put your hair up in a bun at night before you sleep to keep the damage down
Does anyone know what glue is best? I've had my extensions in for a couple days and they already fall out when i wash my hair? (Using some kind of black glue)
I have no idea how i came here but i wear glue in extensions from time to time and that is the worst glue in i have ever seen i truly hope u have gotten better
I agree, don't put your tracks all the way down to the bottom of your hair line, leave about an inch or two up and stay back from the hair line on the sides about an inch or more and you can wear it in a pony or any up type style
it depends on the glue that you use, some come out with first wash. General rule with extensions is that the less you wash it the longer they stay in. Once a week is good and then you can use a powder shampoo to freshen up during the week
If you cut the edges and then glue it it holds better and looks more natural. First roll the edges above the divided line or "part" then place glue along that line... The weave band that holds the hair together should be just above the part... Use scissors and cut the band evenly to the part's edge. Then place glue under the remaining hair and press the hair as you blowdry into place. This looks super natural without the band which causes the itching. It allows it to stay onto the individual strands better. So you can swing the hair without all the losses. Just try it on a bang for starters. This is where a good hair band comes into play. 💯😉
Wow that looks shockingly bad! I was just looking at prebonded u tip tutorials and saw this. I used to glue them in when I was about 14! And think I done a better job! Especially where u done right above the ear. She wouldn't of been able to put her hair up. Wefts and pre bonds are the way it should be. Clips even better
super helpful; thank you! do you have any photos or videos on cutting/layering the hair after its finished being glued in? I am very nervous about doing this ... i have a photoshoot coming up and i will be playing in the water with them, will they still look ok? Im bleach blonde, almost white!
what kind of shampoos and hair products do u use on extensions to prevent them gettig gross? what brands?? also is this method hard to do by yourself on yourself..?
i have clip inextensions that cost alot of money instead of going to by a new thing of hair can i some how take the clips of and then just glue them in.. and would u even recomend me putting straight extensions on my wavy/curly hair
awesome video simple and pretty easy so thanks 4 the demonstration ^-^ i got 1 question tho what kind of hair extension brand is better to use and how long does the glue last? how many times can u wash ur hair while the extensions R on it and after can u reuse the extensions or do you have to throw them away?
I know places in Cali, Phoenix and Seattle where you can buy good hair extensions, also Adorable hair online out of NYC is a very good price and their hair is awesome
Thanks for the video, I have very thin hair, esp in the front area, almost like a receding hair line, So My bangs are very sparse and shorter, along with the temple area, so basically in front of my ears up over my head including my bang area, is my trouble area. Can you tell me Or do a demo video on how to put extensions in to give me a fuller frontal area or bang area. Of course I'd want to use extensions to make my entire head fuller as well. My hair is shoulder length and blonde. Thanks!
hello , I have very curly hair , I always straight it and its little bit damaged but I love to have long straight hair , what do you recommend? what type of hair extension should I use?
So I really want to do this but Ive talked to a couple of professional hairdressers and they say its a bad idea to use that wide clips for glue-in, whats your opinion on this? Do you think its bad?
Yikes! The thought of putting glue in my hair is scary, lol!!! Obviously you know what your doing though. I've never had extensions before but I don't think I would like it much. But you do a great job and it looks great! Thanks for the tutorial!
I wish I lived near you so you can do this for me I have Lyme disease and my hair will die sometimes and break off and I get tape in extensions as of the moment but was looking for something a bit better
I was told gluing in hair extensions ruins your hair and I was wondering if thats true? I'm going to be putting in extensions for my very first time and I am going to use the glue instead of the clips.
maybe try a blue base when coloring your hair. sometimes green ash base stains the very light blondes. I would use a a quick blue bleach with 20 vol developer and then you probably wont have to color your hair, just wash it with blue shampoo and it will cut brass. Be sure to condition hair from the ends up, not putting conditioner on your scalp because that can block hair shaft growth causing hair loss. Also pick up vitamin Biotin, it helps hair growth, I have used this after serious radiation
Do you know what the difference is between full head and half head, with bonded extensions? I went to a salon yesterday for a consultation (my hair is thick and a little longer than my shoulders) i assumed i'd need a full head, as i want it SUPER thick but the hairdresser said i only need a half head :/
You need to use cold air from the blow dryer to dry the tracks , you are just melting the glue with heat that would help when you need to take them out.
I am starting to experiment with glue-ins, ps-love your vids! ;). I was just wondering when glueing in the extensions do you put them on the scalp or half scalp and half hair?
WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!! ur mixed!!!! thats what i was wondering!!! anyway u r soooo pretty with black hair y u dye it blonde but u still look good anyway plzz respond
I had my hair cut like hers but now it's grown out and my hair reaches the top of my collar bones. I just purchased Virgin Brazilian Remy to glue them in. I've had glue ins before and noticed that they got very itchy when I put them towards the front, where my baby hairs are. I'm worried that if I avoid that area, the extensions won't look as blended in. Do you have any suggestions?
