You can tell this cast honestly understood what this song was all about.To those of us old enough to rememeber the original and having lived in the times, it pleases my heart to see there are still people out there in this new generation that get it

You can NOT do this show without completely bonding with your cast. You truly do become a tribe. My friends did this show a few years ago, and they are all still best friends and get together all the time. they still call themselves the tribe and such.
I made an account just to say this. The red head in the front with the flower crown looks like she is singing with such a passion and energy. So admirable and doing a fantastic job. Bravo to her and the entire cast of hair.
I thought this exact thing! I couldn't take my eyes off of her! Her dedication to this song is so beautiful. I do hope that her career has continued since this role.

Posting in 2023 where things are even more dismal than 1969. Saw original cast at Aquarius theater 1969 was obsessed then and still am. Would be great to have a current production in this style that gave hope to our current predicament.Im sure the talent is our there
I grew up hearing my mom play the "Hair" original cast recording over and over. We also saw the movie together when I was 11. ...and I always felt I looked better with longer hair.
here I am a year later re-watching this video and I find myself smiling yet crying at the same time.I want to just leave it all behind,get into my truck,and go off into the world.I miss the years of this message so bad sometimes :)
I saw the original Hollywood cast at the Aquarius Theatre and this bunch comes the closest to the true musical power that house rock band had...the music was so bad-ass good that the audience was dancing along in the middle of the numbers, just some of the best rock n roll you ever heard. Like most musicals, the story was shit, but the music!!!!!!
Apparently in the spirit of the fact that David Letterman obviously has some kind of nasty, cruddy cold that's making his voice sound as it does, from about the 2:50-2:54 mark, the band that is backing up the singers lose it for a few seconds and cough up a tremendously slimy, greenish colored musical clam.
Great performance by the cast, they hit it just right. I'm not so sure about the shows band though. They tried to be too cute which is not what the performance is about. Hair the musical must be done entirely the original way, the same way the music of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven are played.
Is 'HAIR' the best musical of all time? Of course. The score and lyrics are second to none. Unfortunately I was not able to make it out there with the lads who actually fought the war. But I would have loved that privilege if possible
That would have been completely consistent with the counter culture of the hippie movement. It wasn't about sexual prurience. It was about freedom and thumbing one's nose at current social more's. Naked senior citizens is exactly what our society could not accept. Some would even call it warped or scary. So it would be a real rebellion.
Beyond the hilarious awkwardness of career-driven 20- and 30-somethings pretending to be hippies, this is AMAZING. Sasha Allen has one of the best voices I've ever heard.
