First off, I am so very sorry for your losses, I can't imagine what you have been through and admire greatly your courage and thoughtfulness in sharing your experience. I so appreciate the time and expertise as well as the positive, creative energy you put into your videos, they always make me smile and I always learn something new. You were the beginning of my curly girl embrace about six years ago, before that, I straightened my hair almost every day! I shudder to think! :) I have never looked back since discovering your videos, I can't thank you enough, your videos bring me joy! I can't wait to try the hair oiling you outlined so well in this video.

They actually came out with a lighter weight rosemary oil from Mielle! I haven't tried it yet but it's in stores. Love the video!! Scalp care is Soo important ❤️

For those in Canada the Innate Life has some really nice scalp treatments including a rosemary scalp treatment. And their rose hair elixir as a daily oil is super lightweight and smells divine! Also using baby shampoo instead of a moisturizing shampoo works really well if you're limited in curly hair products in your region

Honestly I haven’t even watched yet but I already know this is gonna be a great video. It’s recent news to me that healthy hair starts at the scalp and I’m so glad I know now because I’ve never really truly taken care of my scalp and now that I am my hair is so much healthier!

I started oiling several months ago. I also massage my scalp and it feels so good. I have been using the Mielle Rosmary oil lately for my scalp and I use the OGX Coconut Oil or the OGX Morrocan Oil for my ends. I do mine on Sunday afternoon for a few hours before my Sunday wash. On a side note, recently one of my nieces saw you on a video I was watching and said you looked like a mermaid Barbie. Yep, I can see that. So adorable.

Thanks for saying this about wet hair. Every curly method tells you to comb through when wet, I loose so much hair doing so! Going to try to do it dry next wash day!

Girl, I've been trying sooo hard to recreate your hair. I feel like I'm missing something. I've watched at least a dozen of your videos tutorials, and gone out and bought the 'not your mother's curl talk line', and I'm just getting a giant display of frizz every time! Gahhhhhh. I feel like on the inside, my hair is just like yours, and I just don't know how to return it to its former glory.

oiling my hair while watching! I'm prone to seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp and oily scalp, so I just do olive oil on my lengths and ogx argan oil on the ends.

This is such amazing timing! Literally just yesterday I was thinking about looking into oils again because I can get bad itchy scalp in between wash days. Oils and pre-pooing was never something I got fully down or committed to enough.

Secondly, I just stumbled upon your videos because my former stick straight thin hair has now turned into wavy hair due to perimenopause. I’ve never even heard of hair oiling. This is too funny. When you asked your ALEXA to play that song, mine did play the correct song. I have always shied away from oiling because I have an oily scalp, but naturally the links of my hair are dry, but I think I will get a lighter oil and try this.

Aloha. Great video and your hair turned out awesome. I have the exact same curl pattern and blonde hair. Issue for me is I live in Hawaii and being in the ocean and sun really fries my hair. Will try this method vs just dumping olive or coconut oil on it. Blessings to you. ❤🌺🌴

Something I found helpful was before going in the ocean I’d spray my hair with leave in conditioner! Almost like a protective coating :) it helped a ton with how dry my hair was! I grew up spending my summers in Florida and I had the same issue

Guys it is not try and error to get scalp oils. It is knowledge. Name of it COMEDOGENIC RATING of oil. In Mielle first oil is soy bean oil which rating about 4 ( from 0-5max) this mean it could be very comedogenic- pore clogging. It could suffocate your hair and they can fall off ! So better to get some professional product for scalp (not oils) that made to not clog your pores but promote hair growth. Oils possibly could lead to hair shedding from the roots!

I don't really get the obsession with rosemary oil. I thought I read somewhere that it primarily works on people with thinning hair. Personally I love the Wen eucalyptus and peppermint oil. I'll admit that I kind of forgot about hair oiling for a while. I'm trying to get started again. I meant to do it yesterday but decided that I was too lazy. ☺️

What is the difference between the oils you use for the scalp and the type of oils you use for the lengths? I'm only used to sealing oils or scalp oils so not sure what to look for when using something on the ends.

Brushing hair wet is individual and depends on hair coarseness/curl. I have super coarse curly hair and if I dry brush, it causes breakage and pulls hair out at the root. Coarse dry curly hair is ridged and lacking the stretch and flexibility needed to brush through without damage… so adding that hydration is key to making the hair more pliable… I find the opposite is true for fine hair. So brushing wet hair is less damaging for some textures! Sadly the science doesn’t reflect this as ethnic hair textures are underrepresented in research. 😢❤
