I want to make a small doll that has punched-in hair, I’m wondering what kind of silicone you used for this and if it comes in a liquid form (or any type of form that can be molded)? Since my doll is small I want to use a silicone that I can be poured or pressed into a mold of the head first, then punch hair in after it cures, would you have any suggestions?
It's a regular sewing needle with the tip cut (using heavy wire cutting pliers) at an angle, to create a sort of fork-looking punch needle. Just buy a variety of cheap needles with different sizes of eyes, then cut the eyes at an angle, so you have a lot of different sized needles; experiment to see what works best. .
You tend to use this method for hair punching into prosthetic pieces rather than for wigs. However you can make a prosthetic hair line, use this method and then blend it into the wig hair. www.jesslloydcreations.wix.com/specialeffects have a look on my website I have created a prosthetic forehead on there.
