1. Use a wet brush or something with flexible bristles 2. Brush from the bottom up 3. Pat/dab with a microfiber towel 4. Don't use a lot of hairspray/product 5. Use a water-based leave-in conditioner 6. Leave your conditioner in for at least two minutes.

Tell hairdressers this coz they’re always ripping your hair out of your head when it’s wet!! I’ve actually had to tell them to stop!! They also rub your hair between a towel aggressively when wet!! It’s embarrassing having to tell a hair washer and a qualified hairdresser to stop wrecking your hair…..especially when you’re paying high end prices!! I hate wrong with these people???!!!

@avgonyma1
@avgonyma1 18 дней назад
I think in this case it makes sense to change the saloon. Usually all hairdressers in a saloon will follow the same philosophy. So if they have no clue of how to care and protect the hair, then there's no sense telling them (,they are way too behind with the contemporary knowledge). Lately, in a high end saloon they a very good hairdresser told me what not to do, in order not to have hair thinning. I knew most of it, but she went into such details, so I asked: "does that influence hair fall, does it matter?". She said:" everything matters!". (They care for the hour gently at every step of the way, they touch it gently, the pad it gently, they massage the scalp gently, they detangle it gently, bottom IP, with the right tool, slowly and gently. Then they blow dry it by using Dyson hair driers exclusively. Another time, I had no option but to go back to one of my previous hairdressers (a hairdresser if 10+ years quit working due to health issues), and while this guy does good haircuts, I was shocked at how he was brushing my wet hair: from the top, with force, practically trading them.....😮😮😮 That's the previous generation He's been working for 25+ years, no sense of me teaching him now all the new ways that not even I know all ...I will just try to find someone who's up to date.

Chris, I just came here to say I started following your tips about two months ago because I was at SUCH a low point. I was undergoing a lot of stress and my hair was falling out like crazy (I normally had medium hair but it became super thin), and my life has completely changed! I used to have to wash my hair every other day because it would get so greasy and I felt so defeated, but I just went FIVE DAYS without having to wash it and I'm so excited right now!!! That's like a record for me, even when my hair was healthier months ago. My stylist even told me she's noticed a huge difference in my hair health. THANK YOU!!!! ❤

After my hairdresser left & didnt leave her clients any way to find her, I had to trust another lady to cut my hair. I was 35 & she told me," Women of a certain age, should have their hair shorter because everyone will think youre trying too hard to look young." She cut off what she was pleased with.My last trip to a hairdresser ended with my hair literally melting off after having my hair highlighted. I know do my hair by myself all the time! Typically, those that have to wash their hair more than once or twice a week, due to it getting greasy, is because they wash too often. Which would make sense if your scalp was greasy fast but dry hair. When you wash your hair daily or every other day or more than once or twice a week, you’re washing the natural oils and so when you wash too much, your hair is producing more oil and trying to overcompensate for the oils being washed away so often. While it takes time for your hair to adjust to washing it less, the longer you go, the more your hair will adjust. I workout 5-6 days a week and wash once a week. Once a week I just rinse and still do the conditioner routine and I use a healthy dry shampoo when needed.

Listen to this man. I started following his "triad of hair care" and it made a world of difference! A few extra tips I've found helpful: When I put conditioner in my hair, I gently "squish" it in there. That way I get all the hair, and not just the top. And finally, when applying leave in conditioner (make sure it's a conditioner, not a "mask"!), I lift my hair up and let it fall as I spray. I noticed I was really only getting the top layer a while ago, making the top nice but everything under it still frizzy. "Fanning" my hair out to apply the leave in made a huge difference! Oh! And I had (had) really dry hair, and the thought of two washes was frightening! I thought it would dry my hair out more, but no! Do it! If you grew up in the 80's this all might feel counter-intuitive but trust me, what Chris says WORKS!

Since I have really porous, coarse and color treated hair, I used to shampoo with creamy, "low poo" products, but since I traded them for a detoxing shampoo and, earlier, oil treatment and overnight cream, things have improved immensely! And the microfiber towel is a true life hack. It's used on gym/swimming towels for a reason, after all. I have to tell you that you have actually changed my hair life… I really thought I was doing it all right before…. I was already using redken shampoo and conditioner, but it was the acidic bonding line. So yesterday I switched the shampoo out for volume injection. After the shower I used my leave in conditioner, and blow dried with the big blowout cream and OH MY GOD… I literally cannot believe the difference just those things made! I also bought the redken heat protectant, but I haven’t even felt the need to use an iron yet! Thank you so much, I’m really shocked. I’m also in Florida and want to try the Kenra heat protectant you mentioned but I didn’t see it at Ulta… is it possible that it has a different name now? Or maybe it was just my Ulta store

Thank you Chris for your advice ...I've learned a lot from you. I am in my 50s and have waist length bleach hilighted curly hair. I never shampooed twice but now I do and it has made a huge difference in my texture for the good. I also started to use leave in conditioner and honestly IDK how I lived without it. I don't comb or brush my hair....I use my fingers to detangle in the shower when using my conditioner. I also don't fully blow dry....I only dry the underneath around my neck area and air dry the rest. I would love to see videos for curly / wavy textured hair and what your opinions are because us curly girls handle our hair differently than straight hair girls. :)

Hi do you also double wash in the summer? my hair gets a little dry in the summer so I'm only shampooing once every 2 washes instead now I wonder if anyone else with curly hair has the same problem in the summer

How do you detangle? I've been using a wide-tooth wooden comb (3b hair here) because I've heard the Wet Brush brushes out all the curl - what's your experience?

Thank you Chris for these tips! With this hot nasty humid weather, sometimes I don’t want to be stuck drying my hair and sweating, especially with my long hair. What tips can you give me so that I don’t damage my hair when I leave it wet? Thank you for your help! 😊

Make it into a ponytail, add additional bands for long hair. I actually use very products now and got amazing hair. The last time I lost hair was in a literal ice rain, which broke it. 1. Avoid the hair dryer as much as possible (when it is freezing and you want out, use it) 2. Use mild hair products, I'm in love with solid shampoo. 3. A leave in will make the hair soft, mine are based on light plant oils. Avoid stressing the hair. If a 50 cm hair is broken, it really takes long to grow back to that size. Physical stress, heat, UV and freezing is all bad.

Thanks so much for the tips. I have single processed blonde hair that is really broken. I have not been using conditioner as much because I thought it made my hair look limp and greasy but I think not using conditioner has added to the breakage problem. I am going to get the leave in conditioner and do it your way, along with getting “professional hair coloring and a good cut! Thanks so much for pointing out the right way to use the new products!

I am sooo pleased with my hair since using your tried and true methods! It's growing a lot, is strong, and is much thicker than before. I've been getting compliments from my hairstyle. Finally I know how to grow out my hair! 1. Professional shampoo & conditioner (I prefer Redken.) 2. Leave-in conditioner 3. Olaplex hair oil.

I love your videos, you inspired me to try and take care of my hair, before i was a shampoo/conditioner/air dry girl i didn't really love it but styling it seemed like too much work and a damaging habit. Thanks to you my hair feels and looks better than ever and I only have to wash and style it once a week :D! Completly worth it. My only question could be if you have any other recommendations on leave-in conditioner, because pureology isn't available in my country, I bought one but an alternative would be great.

I use a comb and my hair is never tangled. I just slide the comb through the strands. Never had tangles. Maybe because my hair structure? or because I do not have thick hair? not sure. And I have one better tip to share than to buy a microfiber towel. Use an old T-shirt (oversize or mens size) - put your head and hair through the bottom half, with head upside down, then fold (no need to wrap tight, just fold), fabric on top of each other to the front, and fold it double back and gently tie the sleeves in front and your turban is done. It is so light and absorbs water well. No tension to hair, because it is so light.

You’ve taught me so much already I’ve watched 10+ videos and my hair is way less frizzy and feels healthier and I’m only 3 washes in. I’m still using my drugstore products until they’re all used up as it’d be a waste to throw them out. And I’m pleased with the results so far. But I have purchased the products from your list and will be using those when my drugstore ones run out. So thank you!!!🎉

I haven’t started the whole “healthy hair routine” yet but I’m planning on buying the leave in conditioner from your recommended list! I was wondering if you knew anything about thinning hair? I’d be interesting to see your reaction to some trichologists online who educate us about not wanting to “moisturize” and keep water in our hair. We want to condition it. From what I hear from the hair chemists and trichologists you don’t want to do that? I’m so confused. 😭
@ambernoland1506
@ambernoland1506 11 месяцев назад
People use moisturize and condition interchangeably. You want your hair to be wet the least amount of time possible, as water is damaging to your hair. You do want to condition your hair, which you do while it's wet. So, when people say to moisturize your hair or that it needs moisture, what they mean is conditioning products, not actual water.
@shineseeker7
@shineseeker7 11 месяцев назад
Hair chemists and trichologists are referring to the scientific word moisture to refer to water content. But generally we use moisturizing and hydration/conditioning interchangeably even though they mean different things in a scientific setting.
@Julia-su1vu
@Julia-su1vu 11 месяцев назад
@@shineseeker7 I assumed as much but a few times I’ve seen it mentioned on these videos that “moisture will leak right out threads of the hair” and I’m really confused to how that would work.
