Responding to near-anarchy conditions in the Republic of Haiti, in 1915 the United States sent troops to Port-Au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, under the authority of U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. The U.S. seized control of the country until the occupation ended on August 1st, 1934. While Haitians are commemorating the century-long anniversary of the invasion, our guests discuss the impact this event has had on the country and the affects that are still felt in Haiti today.
Guests:
Carole Demesmin, Award Winning Singer
David Kilroy, Ph.D, Nova Southeastern University
Gerard Metellus, Oganizasyon Pep K’Ap Lite (OPL)
