I am not a part of this culture at all but every time I watch a haka dance being performed I cannot help but feel real emotions and tears of joy just build-up inside of me. This is all quite amazing and I truly wish that some people would just stop being so ignorant about this because I truly believe that it is disrespectful to their/this culture !!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂

The haka brings emotion. Its Awesome to see that they are honoring their culture and ancestors. Much love to New Zealand and all those in the Samoan tribes!! Way to go brothas!
Aotearoa ( Land of the long white cloud ) or known as New Zealand is the homeland of us Māori people, so the Haka belongs to our culture. Our Samoan brothers and sisters are from the beautiful island of Samoa and they do a similar war cry but is named Siva Tau, just to clear up the confusion. Both have similar cultures and language, yet still very different. But both countries and people are from the Polynesian region though and Kia Ora ( Thank you ) for showing love to both cultures.
War dances and war cries are not unique to the Polynesian people and performances often seen at the start of so many international games played at many sports. We all see the NZ national teams performing them and showing their "respect" to opposition teams. The Australian Kangaroos, the national Rugby LEAGUE team, used to perform a war cry from the early 1900's through to 1967. While being a more theatrical presentation than the Haka it was done for the Indigenoue people who were frequently represented in the team given the many great Indigenous players over the decades. The Wallabies (Rugby Union) team used to also perform a similar chant but this died out well before it did with the Kangaroos. It would also be something I would expect to be seen at Aussie Rules games given the links of that sport to the game called Marngrook that was played in ancient times by the First Australians.
Maori's and samoans are polynesians, but New zealand has a long distant from the main region of polynesia so they pretty much developed their own unique culture
@@leroyshipp7532 the ghost dance, and shirt along with all our spiritual practices were banned by the government, and we couldn't hold pow wows until I think it was in 1974. We have loss alot of our dances.
I was never REALLY interested in Maori culture and the practices they've kept alive through the ages while growing up. But seeing these kinds of videos make me feel proud to come from New Zealand because the culture really is super special, there aren't many traditions left in the world which are similar to a Haka. As I got older I've learnt to appreciate it WAY more.
@@ElBantosClips Even as a white 20 year old fukktard living in The Netherlands i feel all the way connected to Hawaii and Australia. HAKA, has nothing to do with where u came from what u look like, it has to do with the power of a "small" culture expressing themselves. Cant imagine how scared the white folks who went to Australia for the first time would have been
Every haka is so powerful. Even tho I am not connected to this culture just hearing that triggers my inner tribal instinct. What a beautiful tradition. bless these people.
i’m black, and do not have an indigenous bone in my body, but i feel a true connection to natives. african americans and native americans built america. we are a very close knit community and i do take pride in seeing these extensions on my ancestors show their pride in who they are. i am proud to be black, and i am proud to know my ancestors worked with these peoples ancestors. that brings me immense pride.
If you are not Aboriginal what are you? Don’t let ppl not qualified to label themselves, assign you. You are Aboriginal my friend - true enough attempts have been made to wash away who you are, but look at what you have come to see. It’s in your programming which is in your carbon/melanin. It makes pale ppl feel a bit uneasy watching - they don’t know why. But we feel it deeper without knowledge because the authors of this Haka were originally black like everyone else on the earth and they were passionate ppl just like we are today.
I wish we had a similar respect for indigenous culture in Australia. There are many traditions we could take on - but seems to be a visceral dislike by many non-Aboriginal Australians. But like others, I tear up when I see a haka - and then spend hours searching for them on RU-vid!
@@ellederberryblue8377 sadly, you are correct - australia tolerates the indigenous people, but only to the point where they cannot be accused of cultural genocide
My family is Eastern European, Czechoslovakian and Polish. I find haka to be fascinating. I find it there are interesting facets to all cultures and I like to find the history and also the beauty of those cultures however they manifest. I read some of the comments and some of them were favorable and some of them were downright hateful. Personally I think there's way too much hate in the world as my parents experience world war II in Europe. if people find something not interesting to them they should just move on to something that is interesting to them rather than lambasting it because they're not a fan. I would like to see a world where people actually followed loving teachings which exist in many of the spiritual teachings in the world.
Well said. Different cultures do it in different ways, and variety is good. But ritual song and dance speaks to every human soul. And it should be something shared as a species that brings us all together.
Me too! The first time I saw one my initial reaction was that it looked terrifying. Yet within a minute or two I was tearing up. There's just so much emotion in Haka that you can't help but to feel it too. Amazing.. 😊
For those who decry the Haka - and what it represents - try to take on board that it was the ancestors of people like this, who helped keep YOUR ancestors safe in Two World Wars! Go, Kiwis! :-)
The Haka has such Powerful Mana, it bubbles up the waters within & causes the eyes to be water falls, it brings in Universal Prana & one feels strength in Oneness. It does not matter which culture you arrived in or what color the skinsuit is that you wear nor does it matter the shape of the eyes, everyone recognizes the Universal & Cosmic call to defend The All That Is! As a People we too will become One with the All & race becomes The Human Race undivided. 🥰🙏🥰 I Pray For This, No More Division.
There are Two passionate anthems in sport. The Haka. very peaceful words with compassion.. You'll Never Walk Alone. So many reasons that song means such much to us Liverpool. The Liverpool fc family
Married into and accepted by my Maori Whanau. The Haka has many different aspects, but I can still not put to words the depths of feeling it provokes within me.
Put the fear of God into anyone. Now we are familiar with it afabulous spectacle that still gives me goosebumps! Thank you for sharing a morsel of your culture
Hi Julia I am a Maori woman myself and the Haka was a dance of intimidation for war but specifically for men to protect their tribe(woman and children) until it slowly became apart of us women aswell however we have different rights in the approach depending on your tribe, status and faith as each protocol is different accordingly if that makes sense. But there are a few that women can do if representing nationally or for specific occasions such as weddings, bdays, funerals etc...and there are some where we cannot. But it's beautiful to see
Love it.........always love a Haka.........to the thumbs down sadsacks, you have no souls.....hope you find them soon............well done NZ you are a class act. 🇦🇺🏴🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
