Hakuba (白馬) is the site of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano (長野). There are several ski resorts there. The biggest and most famous is Happo One (八方). It has the largest ski village with hotels and restaurants. There are also many foreigners, and foreign staff working the restaurants and hotels, so you can get by speaking English (or Chinese). There are other mountains, including Iimori Goryu (good for beginners) which is connected to Hakuba 47.
