The reason she wont say Palestine is because companies wont pay you if you speak of the things they dont want you to. Other things ad companies will do is pay you more to make Russia look lesser than Ukraine even by simply putting russia lower on any and all lists that also have Ukraine on them. Its all about what THEY want you to think and feel. It is so deeply rooted in everything we see and do especially on the internet. Anyway, back to the video. Definitely keep blocking even though they'll just fill her space with someone else.
If the US had another country put weapons "in their backyard" they would 100% try to invade it. Like I get it. And Russia is not right for what they're doing because Ukranians are dying and living in a war zone, but try to link it to where we are. It's the US' fault Russia is doing what it's doing. It was an excuse, but it was still wrong. Free Palestine. Free Sudan. Learn about the other 6 genocides going on in the world. It's so much bigger. And the US and our allies are at the center of it.
As a seamstress, Haley not paying Mark a cent is the opposite of making me sympathetic for her. Like I get that for him, it's a work of heart but it's also an expensive work of heart. She could at least go in on supplies because her exposure isn't enough of an exchange
Exactly.... Like if she was thankful, even if he didn't ask for any money, she could have paid him an amount she believed was fair or gifted him something.
From what I have seen, tiktok may be taking down videos of people who say Palestine, a few people couldn't say it and had to replace the word with different ones
That's not an excuse for her, this apology is definitely a pr crisis move, just wanted to make it known that tiktok is stopped some from talking about it
The fact that she completely didn’t comprehend why people were pissed off shows how aware she is. People were not upset over her going to gala. They are upset about the historic, insensitive and foolish quotation about the cake
@@Gush9x Not that it really distracts from the insensitivity but in actual fact there's no historical record of Mary Antoinette ever having said the phrase, was said factually in a book written around 25 years prior to the French Revolution when she was only 9 years old and had never even been to France at the time. Was attributed to her decades later and practically all historians doubt highly she ever said it.
Literally acting like she wouldn’t have been able to afford a dress for the Met Gala. Like what? Did she forget we know how expensive her apartment is?
She grew up on the richest part of my state, which has top 1% wealth, like CEOs of major companies living in that community… I think she was rightfully called out for her genuine elitism and ignorance.
People in AMERICA are starving right now. Flint Michigan... no clean water. The housing shortage. The CRITICAL shortage of help and care for the aging population and she continues to make outrageous and selfish content is disgusting.
I don't think we should crucify her for not wanting to comment on hot topic issues. If anything I respect her more for admitting she didn't know everything, and for knowing it was better for her to not say something on a public platform with the little knowledge she had. Too many people think they are educated on a topic and then run their mouths and clutter the internet with misinformation.
ETA: we don't know what she does in her own time. For all we know she could be doing the research, but has every right to still withhold her opinions from the public sphere if she isn't comfortable yet in sharing them.
she's not stupid let's not infantilise these adults for not taking the time to educate themselves or even just spreading awareness if she thinks she can't articulate things properly
@@sirilion I'm not saying let's let her off easy on account of ignorance. I agree with you that she (or any public figure) should be made accountable for bad behaviour. The video was tone deaf, clearly, and she's getting some flack for it. I iust think that her decision not to publicly discuss global issues isn't really a great offence. And if she had spoken about Palestine or any other social issue in her apology video, it would have come off as disingenuous at this point.
Imagine saying this about slavery or domestic violence, other unaccepted societal practices.. "Oh yeah I don't know enough about it.. sorry!" Its not hard to condemn abhorrent practices...
This is true, I will say the block out is to try and stop these people getting as much money as they do, but it is different with the government, we can't take away much from the government like we can from these famous people
the problem is not only with Haleyy, but with all influential people, because we are now vulnerable to a third world war, and people and children are d*ying, being bu*rned, and bo*mbed in Palestine for no reason. The problem is that after the displacement of all the Palestinians to Rafah, because it is the only safe place, and it is now considered the region. The most populated area in the world. An order came from the Israeli government to evacuate Rafah. The question now is where will the Palestinians go? Why are all countries silent about everything that is happening?
To answer your last question, they have literally made news illegal in my country to show on social media and has been banned from pretty much every app we normally use, I was surprised I could even post this video to RU-vid without it getting flagged and taken down. They are clearly trying to go to drastic measures to censor us here, you need to go out of your way to do your own research lately because you won’t hear or world events anywhere else. It feels like a civil rights violation to censor the media but here we are.
Why do you only care about Palestine? Lots of wars, child slaves, etc! We have known kids are having their hands cut off mining diamonds... Child slaves mining metal for your phones but ok
"Educate yourself then" Sorta unpopular opinion but I don't think some "comedy tiktoker" is fit to be the one discussing what's going on in the middle east currently.Regardless if they are educated or not people should force people to speak on everything, YES what's going on in Gaza should be talked about but for the sake of everyone wouldn't it be better to encourage people to go to more direct sources and do their own research rather then yell at some content creators who have nothing to do with what's going on?
Why are we making these people famous if they're so comfortable ignoring people getting killed when they could say ONE THING. There are multiple youtubers who do commentary that have spoken out about Palastine. Why does your empathy for a horrific situation have to "match up" with your content? That's nonsense. It really does feel like a modernized version of hunger games if we just excuse rich people's apathy when they could do SOMETHING if they really cared.
@@stxrstruck6755 Well, I wasn't trying to excuse apathy, rather I suggested that not everyone is fit to talk about the issue that's why I said it's probably better to encourage people to do their own research and spread awareness in other manners, the content creators can lead people to sources.
She's actually very well educated ... She majored in psychology and bio medicine science. Her "I don't know, I'm so silly" is her trying to escape any blame. Not only that she's a liar, she made a video saying she was incited to the MET gala, and in her apology video she says she wasn't invited. Which is it 🙄?
Kind of surprising how many people don't know about the "Let them eat cake" quote. Just some trivia: Marie Antoinette likely never said it. Not even the french version, "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche" (which is more "They should eat brioche" I think. Still the same weight, more or less. Brioche is a kind of sweet bread.) There's no historical evidence that she said this. In fact, the earliest known association between the two was around 50 years after the French revolution. The phrase actually comes from Jean-Jaques Rosseau's book Confessions in 1765, when Antoinette was around nine years old and had not yet stepped foot in France . From what I've read, Marie Antoinette herself was never actually that ignorant of the people's plights, but she wasn't particularly undeserving of criticism, either. Her bad rep had come mostly from propaganda and false accusations, but it's true that she was frivolous and made heavy expenditures despite France's financial situation. She did step up as queen and became more politically involved later on, but not to much benefit. She made several poor decisions that only added to political unrest. TL;DR: Don't confuse myth with facts! The story does remain an anecdote for the ignorance and apathy of the rich towards the common people's struggles.
Hayley is funny and I don’t think she meant badly, but I did find it so weird that she was very focused on justifying that she isn’t part of the ‘elite’ and wasn’t invited when the issue was that the video was ignorant. Not malicious really, but maybe a bit tone deaf. To use it whilst at a hugely exclusive event that is already heavily criticized wasn’t well thought out. She isn’t a ‘normal’ person. She’s famous and clearly wealthy enough to afford living in NYC. I feel for her, because she didn’t recognize that it was a bad idea.
For Haley or anyone to say that they "didn't know about Gaza" right now is like the worst apology ever. I am sorry but that is like someone stealing something from the store and than saying "Oh I am sorry, I didn't know you had to buy it"....Come on! 😪😪😪
I had no idea about the war until recently- it has recently been getting more attention, whilst stealing has always been a rule that we should follow, some people don’t pay attention to the news or wars or anything like that- you can’t say that if they don’t know about a war going on that it’s “unacceptable” Now I’m not trying to stand up for Haley cuz I haven’t watched the video but I personally find it really weird that it’s unacceptable for someone to not know about a war that has just now been recently talked about, please correct me if there was anything that I misunderstood
Wow. We are living in a world where NOT being invited to something like the Met Gala is an honor. I am sure Anna Wintour is not happy. They need to revise their guest list as it's turned into a freak show circus of Halloween costumes.
I'm sorry but people are stretching this out to something else she was just posting a funny video and embodying marie antionette because of her dress and where she is at the MET gala. To make this about israel and palestine war which she has nothing to do with nor any control over is ridiculous and stupid
The fact that Antoinette said it to her people when they were starving ! Let's put palestine aside how can use a quote that is so evil and has no mercy and yes it was no joke she said it and she got payed for it done 👍
It's not just about the genocide in Palestine. Did you even watch the whole video? The whole thing is so dystopian. That's what people are upset about. Americans are suffering while their tax dollars are being sent to a foreign country that's committing genocide, society is crumbling, unemployment and inflation is gripping the world. Famine, war, climate change... the world is literally going to Hell and these celebs are shamelessly displaying their wealth. It's not just about Haley. It's the whole entertainment industry.
@@humansworldwide763I mean she did say it in the video, everyone else was using it and getting no negative feedback so she thought it was harmless so she used it because it was a popular audio
So “its complicated”? 🤷♀️ she chose to be uninformed there is nothing hard in saying genoc!de is wrong, k!lling thousands children is wrong. Silence is complicity. Regardless of her fancy dreams.
Why are people mad at this girl who doesn't really have power to make that much change. Be made at the leader and law makes. They have the power to change things. I works the election in NYC and only a couple hundred people showed up, theres a couple thousand live in that District. If your not doing your part then you should be made at yourself
I am pro Palestine but why are people mad at Haley who is not even Muslim while literally the arabic and and Muslim rulers, people who actually have power to change things are silent, why are you not mad at arabic and Muslim celebrities who knows all the story If anything we should be mad at people who have responsibilities toward Palestine most Like Muslim and Arabs and than blame other, WE should bé thé one helping first then think about other, the problem is that everyone is blaming others for not doing anything and not blaming self for the same matter , each one is counting on others while every action and contribution helps and make difference. AT the moment where people are blaming each others , Palestiniens are dying
Ive been saying this for soooo long already.. ive been comparing the USA to France..wee need a revolutuon. Ive HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR SOO LONG AND PEOPLE DIDNT LISTEN UNTIL BY LUCK THIS COMMENT WAS MADE.. AND NOW EVERYONE IS ON BOARD
A "normal" person wouldn't or couldn't really spark this kind of reaction by saying something online, not would they need to apologize all over themselves for fear of loosing all their "normal" income pathways. The age of of celebrity worship hopefully is over for good.
If she wanted to speak on what is happening then she would learn about it so she can speak on it, she really thinks "I'm not educated on the matter" is gonna help her but she can find every bit of information by going on her phone, she just won't and doesn't want to
"He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first" Ignorance can't be anywhere remotely in the same level of fault as intention. So many people using that same damn audio, including the girl "throwing a lavish Marie Antoinette party" and people think it's "cool" and "aesthetic" until there's someone with enough following to get haters. She said it herself: "I'm so not elite I wasn't even invited". Even Addison Rae was invited once, Emma Chamberlain is recurrent at this point. People be criticizing incluencers when they speak on such topics cause "Performative Activism" or whatever, and when someone refrains from speaking on it cause that's not what their content is about and they rather not misinform with their ignorance, they're somehow worse? Like, glad we're raising awareness about the crazy disparities between the privileged class and the rest of the (struggling in their own way) population, but you've got to admit Haley has just been the scapegoat and the REAL privileged people are still going on about their days unscathed.
I believe Mary Antoinette’s actual quote was, “LET THEM EAT BRIOCHE…” but the sentiment of the quote is still the same, regardless of whether it’s “brioche” or “cake.”
The way in which she begins to tells us a very sad story on how little girl Haley always wanted to attend the met gala and how she was there as an unpaid worker for an elitist event is so heartbreaking
@@manoteriuesgaming well that was a lot of unnecessary information said only with the intention of making people feel either bad or somehow relate to her
did she just apologize by talking about how she "wasn't even invited" as if that even matters??? did she just apologize by playing the same line she's in trouble for over 3 times? did she just apologize by saying "well other people did it!!!" did she just apologize by saying SHES NOT AWARE OF WHATS GOING ON IN PALESTINE???? she couldn't even say it. doubt she even knew the name. keep boycotting celebs.
Even tho it was not her intention, the apology was just so bad. Like how can she as 30 yo woman who’s job basically is social media not know what’s happening in Palestine rn? Unless if she’s living in a cave
People use that phrase bcuz we are peasants, we are the poor, you were at an elite party and you said that phrase at a bad time and place.. you have no exucse .. we the people need to stand up..
To correct you rather was a book written about 25 years prior to the French Revolution thats got the quote "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche" which is where the quote Let them eat cake originates from Jean-Jacques Rousseau's book Confessions in 1765 (actually 24 years prior to the revolution). She would have been 9 years old at the time and had never even been to France, was just attributed to her (Mary Antoinette) decades later.
The fact that she, an affluent influencer, has not paid Mark a cent for his hard work, is atrocious. Let alone her excuse that "let them eat cake" was just a "trending" sound for her, is also atrocious. The entire thing is a fking sht shw. Her ignorance is not an excuse. ✌️
Hayley’s excuse saying she has a lack of education on the ongoing issues in Gaza is inexcusable. With how prevalent it is in the news and Palestinians and those who are in standing in solidarity with Palestine discuss it in the media, surely she already has enough information to be educated?
the people trying to defend her have the only argument that “its just an audio that other creators use” when thats literally not the root of the issue 😭
I am SURE she didn't do it on purpose, and she apologized about her mistake, what do y'all want her to do? Get on her knees and beg for forgiveness? Get over it
I think it’s nuts that we have to call out an adult because they don’t give a damn about a genocide that is funding by their own tax dollars BUT there’s a risk for asking influencers or celebrities to talk about Gaza like it’s an ad. They can deserve the cause and look dishonest, instead they could (should) share contents of people with knowledge and decenter themselves of their account (way more charitable if they actually care about humanity). In this case there's Palestinian journalists and civilians who talk about their situation everyday and many gofund me links are out there. These things are the minimum of what an influencer can do, most of the time they promote things about mental health and happiness but don’t do anything when it comes to the real problems that are actually hurting people. That’s why the all Hayleyy Baylee thing was the last straw, maybe she’s nice and funny but is not the same as being a good person in the exemplary way that I think people want to see in someone they admire. And her apology wasn’t really one, she only talked about herself, bad strategy if you want to be liked. At the end the overreaction is coming from frustration, people are realizing that shallow contents made with no real humanist values behind, is something they don’t want in their lives. It’s a challenging era and we need community more than ever, that’s what the boycott is bringing, as well as the protests, power and togetherness to build a world worth living in.
i am always on the fence about astrology being true, but hearing that a pluto was in aquarius happened at the SAME TIME the ACTUAL MARIE ANTIONETTE said "let them eat cake" is FUCKING INSANE. also, props for the casual and easy-to-digest format. it was well paced, well spoken, and easily understandable w/o much dramatization. i love and appreciate that, since i prefer objective takes and rundowns rather than passionate callouts. anyways, L haylee. can't believe how much greed can make someone so fearful, defensive, and unempathetic at the same time.
I dont blame her for not speaking up about the Israel Palestine war. Shes a comedy creator and thats not her job. However it ticked me off a bit the amount of times she tried to highlight she didnt spend money because she couldnt afford it or she wasnt very famous because she clearly could afford it and she is famous. I started to get annoyed when she went added that she wasnt paid. Theres no hiding she has money and she can spend that money! But you cant go on the internet clearly looking for pity and acting like you cant afford things.
She is doing the Mila and Ashton apology - white wall back 😞. she missed the mark here using this video to speak about how she wasn't invited to the MET. Plus the theme of the MET is based on the poem 'The Garden of Time' by J.G. Ballard 🤮🤢 . #eattherich
YALL SHE KEEPS THE HEAVY MAKEUP, GIVES HERSELF A "PEASANT" OUTFIT AND HAIR?? SHE HAS DONE THIS IN HER EARLIER VIDEO OF HER CRYING ON CAMERA, SAYING SOCAIL MEDIA IS HARD LIKE SHES A REGULAR PERSON
These ppl in comments should find them selves a hobbymore than literal half of em aren't even educated about the phrase or the French history, it's all a bunch of ppl begging for influencers to give their country's some attention, embarrassing honestly
I used an audio everyone is using with no negative feedback because I didn’t know what it meant 🤪"Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. Right is right even if no one is doing it." ~William Penn
But from the normal person’s point of view, like the girl really meant no bad. She is uneducated for sure, but tbh I myself did not know what “Let them eat cake” meant. Like my first time hearing it was not about a cake was after her scandal. And mind you, I have studied French history at school but we just never talked about this particular expression. So I can easily understand how she did not realize it had a deeper meaning
Marie Antoinette probably never said that, I don't disagree with what is happening in this video, but it isn't a historical fact... She definitely shouldnt have said it though 👀💚
12:46 but now she had better research what’s going on in the world cuz I know she put research into this apology. So now she’s knows 👏🏽 great learning lesson
I dont understand people Let me say, Im not a capitalist, Im so against that system, I despise materialism. But How is a celebrity makign a video with a tik tok sound capitalistic, ignorant or disgusting? Hayley is one of the sweetest people I have seen. This boycott is stupid. These money wont ecen go to the people who need it That audio had bren used by million and it had no deeper meaning We have a system that doesnt educate teens and this has impact on adults. And THESE are these uninformed adults. This war, that we all think we are so well informed about it is a very thin subject. Its stupid that we even think that a war that has been going on for years and hides deep secrets of humanity has any valid information and truth anf that WE simple people knwo about it. I personally think Hayley should stay out of this. Her apology was pretty much valid. If you WANT to raise awareness recah out to your local school, YOU can talk to the internet, a celebrity who doesnt know anythign about it cant. We should ALL be informed but making this pointless boycott just to show what? Our anger ? At what ? Feeling unseen and threatened by a viral tik ton sound ? All in all. Stop cancel culture
She just wanted us to feel bad for her. Oh poor you! You didn’t get invited to the met gala. Yes you’re such an average person not like you don’t live in a penthouse in New York. Seriously ew.
