"Feet Sliding" is a common animation problem where Quadropeds are hard too animate and thus look weird with there feet moving in unrealistic ways that has them sliding at points when they should be staying still.
Wait I swear I have seen that gunner military man thing. It might have been a Gmod addon but I clearly remember him blasting me with his mini gun, but I might be wrong.
Probably you mean: Half Life Renaissance by Silverlan for SLVBase 2 on Garry's Mod[1][2] There's several cut enemies and weapons in it, all retouched, some probably taken from Sven Co-op. I can't confirm it but I believe that there used be cut Half Life 2 enemies too added in Half Life Renaissance but were removed in updates and reuploads. I don't have as much interesting things say about the other addons, both of them have gunner military man thing though probably. You also probably mean: Half-Life SNPCs addons by presumably Boo on Garry's Mod[3][4] and the list of contributors and fix up by them. Requirements not included and neither mounts [1] Reupload of Half Life Renaissance as addon on Steam Workshop: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=534755660 [2] Reupload of Half Life Renaissance as addon on Steam Workshop: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1516718459 [3] Several addons; seems not be reuploaded, but rather expanded upon addons probably because of file size restrictions and errors: [3] The addon of Half Life SNPCs: steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=759043063 [4] Continued addon of Half Life SNPCs: steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=957226287 [5] Additional mod of Half Life Renaissance I'd found of interest to note from: garrysmods.org/download/24105/half-life-renaissance
I remember the companion monster thing being really big news, npc companions were not really a thing in FPS games at the time. I think in strife (1996) you could teleport friendly units in, but that game wasn't very well known.
I am the one with less education of my family But, i know how to talk and behave as if i really know what i'm talking about, sometimes someone asks me to read about something and then try to look as if i was an expert in the topic since some time ago
I feel like that would not work with half-life on any level. I imagine that on e you're pinned it would basically be a quick time event, which feels very wrong for half-life. Also, the tone.
4:49 I remember seeing the blue panther eye in a magazine. Years later I realised I had never seen it in the game at all. That was my first experience of cut content and the disappointment along with it ha.
The PolyRobo is base from a 80s anime cartoon Macross (aka Robotech) enemy ship call Reguld Robot Regalia - i.pinimg.com/564x/6a/92/ed/6a92ed2e01be60f34c6efdc989317786.jpg Had one as a kid in the 80s ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7UQJ5_fYLFg.html
@@Shrek_es_mi_pastor Robotech was the American release of macross. Macross was too short to fill the minimum number of episodes for it to air on American tv, so two other anime were added to the end as a continuation of the story.

It came to be one of the signature visuals of the series and has reappeared over the years, most recently in modified form for Macross Delta. Despite being an enemy mecha (and all the neglect that comes with that less-than-royal position in Japanese merchandising), recently Bandai's Hi-Metal R line has produced one of the best Reguld renditions in recent retail resale. I've managed to recently obtain the HMR Reguld Missile Two-Pack and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of these classic robots.
That's not true at all, they were cut because most of them were redundant and felt the same. Archer was cut because they liked the more terrifying Ichtyosaur and he was perfect as an underwater enemy. Snapbug was most likely similar to the Headcrab. Stukabats and Floaters were cut in favor for Controllers. Kingpin was scrapped because Bullsquids already existed, they both had melee attacks and projectile attack. The only one i believe was unique was Mr Friendly and his attack concept is the only one i believe was cut because at the time that wasn't possible
You forgot the robot grunt (this robot was cut in the american version but in the German censored version for a while before getting replaced with regular grunts.)
With the Human Sergeant as a mini-boss encountered before reaching the Labmda Complex with the remnants of the H.E.C.U engaging in a final stand with Gordon, with tanks, helicopters, snipers, etc., Bombarding the players location to force Gordon out of cover, and introducing new variants of Marines like Rocket Launcher Grunts, Engineers, LMG Grunts and the reintroduction of the P.C.V, and the Human Sergeant being at his full potential, with the dual rocket launchers from the concept art, while keeping his minigun and his melee attacks, while also having a P.C.V, I'd also picture him with a Beret (likely Green), this could also be part of a new chapter in between "Forget about Freeman" and "Lambda Core" (possibly based on the military base idea, a fitting name for the chapter would be "Final Stand"), with Xenians like Gargantuas attacking the base and dealing with the rest of the H.E.C.U while the player focusses on the Human Sergeant (which would likely have a name such as "Sergeant Major"), this would also be the only time he is actually fought, he would likely be introduced earlier on, likely during "Apprehension", in a modified version of the scrapped cutscene, with the grunts overpowering Gordon, pinning him down, while the Sergeant knocks Gordon out with his Crowbar, during this the player would only be able to look around, the player wouldn't be able to see the fight, until at a later point, where they can see it from the recording of a security camera, the Sergeant wouldn't be encountered in person again until you fight him, but he could be seen moving through the facility on security footage, and his voice could be heard on radios, such as in "Surface Tension" and "Forget about Freeman", the ladder of which would have him sending a message to all remaining H.E.C.U forces, there would also some messages involving him talking to command, such as one after your capture, and another would be about the Gargantua on the loose in "Surface Tension", I feel like this would be a great way to reuse some really cool ideas and a cool way to bring over some things from Opposing Force, and it would be a great way to introduce the Human Sergeant without it feeling shoehorned in, it's believable that the Marines that didn't escape would do whatever they can to kill Gordon and would regroup with whatever commanding officer that's left.
The snapbug looks like something you'd step on, then it would bite you. Hence the mouth on top of it's body. Perhaps it was meant to be used as a moving bear trap?
as much as i love the hassault, i feel like itt was a goood decision to cut iit for the current HECU, but itt made sense back in 1997 when the HECU wernt US marrines buttt black mesa owned mercany people.
translation: as much as I love the hassault, I feel it was a good decision to cut it from the HECU, but it made sense back in 1997 when the HECU werent marines, but Black Mesa mercenaries
@@narrowgauge0727 a cool way they could've kept him in would be to just change him from a regular enemy to a full on mini-boss in either "Surface Tension" or "Forget about Freeman" either trying to take down the Gargantua (if in "Surface Tension") or by regrouping with and taking command of the remaining Marines, acting as the H.E.C.U's final attempt to take the player down (if in "Forget about Freeman").
Some monsters I don't see mentioned are: An alternative version of the Flying Flock or boid.mdl in the game files, aflock.mdl. May exist in the game files but was never used by valve and very few on mods. Chumtoad, I know there was an easter egg on Opposing Force & Blue Shift but weren't also intended to be enemies or pickable by the player in one of the earlier versions of HL? And I know it exists on Svencoop but that's another thing on it's own An enemy that I don't know it's name but I know it exists on the Half-Life manual and it's model too, though I don't know if is the original or if it was recreated, is located on page 19/20
Also on a sidenote, in the files of Half-Life Source, you can find textures for alternate colored skins for the Chumtoad, as well as textures for older versions of the other enemies and NPCs.
May be normal and common senss to us now but they really had to innovate to make an FPS unlike those at the time. Ivan the Space Biker is a good example, had to make a normal guy and not some huge, brash, kick-ass man.
The Gunner Sergeant carrying the M60 on the Drawing model is the appropriate weapon to use because in reality, the Gatling Gun/Minigun Requires a Battery pack, Ammo bag and Drill discipline to operate. People say that Navy SEALs are carrying Miniguns on a Standalone platform is not true because it doesn't fit their doctrine as Special Forces. Plus, you're an Easy target.
Mr. Friendly and Kingpin was in game since it was Prospero (Pre Quiver), which was 3rd person game where we play as female named Librarian and use psy abilities, Kingpin was one on mini-bosses because it would hit her in the softest spot (well, psi with psi). And Mr Friendly... just think about it - idea of this enemy was even more screwed up because main protagonist was female and it all would happen in 3rd person (damn...). Ah yes, almost forgot, one of those enemies could devour their pray and keep them alive while they inside, devoured human can live inside them for years and don't age... and also be conscious (at least in some part). P.S. Also some music files named Prospero, which suggests that we listening for soundtrack which intended for a absolutely different game
I still say Ivan the Space Biker needs his own Half-Life spinoff in the vein of Barney and Adrian (and Gina and Collette for those who’ve played Decay). Heck, make him a maintenance worker who’s given an obsolete model of the HEV suit due to his work in Anomalous Materials that due to running late for his shift for some reason or other sets up the faulty equipment as seen in the introduction chapter in Gordon’s story, and give him the Pipe Wrench from Adrian’s story as his melee weapon. As for what he’s doing, perhaps Ivan could be setting up some major plot point for one of the established protagonists while also attempting to escape from the facility. Seriously, I just want Ivan to get his much deserved spotlight moment since the poor guy never got the chance to save the day, just sayin’. 😑
For me the Human Sergeant is definitely one of them, he had so much potential, I'm sure that if they had more time they easily could've reworked him, I feel like he would do really well as a mini-boss in either "Surface Tension" or "Forget about Freeman", he also would've been cool to see in Opposing Force, he would definitely work better as a standalone character and not a regular enemy, he definitely had a lot of potential, a cool way they could've put him in Opposing Force is after Shepard gets left behind and later finds out he is still at Black Mesa, and Shepard tries to meet up with him and finds that Freeman already got to him, it would also be cool if you could pick up his Minigun, but you don't get ammo until right before the fight with the final boss.
gman : doctor freeman... Did you loose your, *inhales* glasses again? gordon : yes this thing sucks do u mind giving me back the glasses friendly : *autistic screaming* gman : what was that, come again doctor freeman? this is definitely why he was cut and for good reasons
Mr. Friendly and The Cremator from HL2 were the two best cut enemies... Edit: I never had heard about this Kingpin enemy, maaan it's a shame we don't have these disturbing-looking enemies in the released game.
I just found your channel the past month , I was searching for a youtuber who actually do content about Half-Life 2 beta , and other things related . and I found a jackpot finally lol , I am enjoying your videos soo far , keep the good work !!!
I remember that 4 legged thing in a double page ad(or a publisher screenshot but anyway it was an official thing given by the dev or publisher to the magazine) in a pc magazine from the month HL was released 🤔 why did it take me 20 years to realise it was never in the game ? 😅 Now that I think about it it was false advertising 🤔
Oh that's a mod called Absolute Zero. Its goal was to recreate most of the Alpha within the retail game, but unfortunately the mod has ceased development :(
you technically forgot the chumtoad but even then id consider it minor in the sense that it was the reverse of snarks and that it acted as a distraction. also usable as a weapon.
Mr. Friendly kinda looks like an evolved headcrab. Maybe if half life 3 comes out we could see it actually taking control of human bodies unlike how headcrabs just hit your face.
2:42 Hold up, did the pistol actually have an empty mag reload animation or is this a fan addition? If not, why the hell didn’t they use it in the final product?
Damn this mod in the background is actually really sick. Being someone that went through a phase of obsession for the Half-Life alpha, this mod is a really cool re-imagining (or de-imagining?) of the game in.
cutting the construction worker is the weirdest move tbh. it doesnt make sense how every single npc in the facility are either scientist or security guards.
Finally a video about this topic. Thx man for making it. Also, most of those enemies make an appearance in several Half-Life mods such as Sven Coop, Absolute Zero and Restored.
