The anti parasiticals probably did work actually and the dead flukes just further clogged their vessels and caused heart issues. To determine the cause of death you'd have to get a necropsy done. It sucks- and I hope you recover soon, RIP torts.

A friend of mine lost all her prize ducks to bird flu last year, I totally understand how devastating that is. she's very determined on rebuilding her flock this year, past two weeks I have been helping her sterilize everything in preparation for the arrival of eggs she's planning to hatch. the thing is she not going to give up on something she loves. she learned from her mistakes and is pushing on, I'm proud of her for doing so

I really appreciate your candor in this situation. I struggle every single day with prevention and treatment of illness in my various bantam (miniature) chicken flocks, sometimes I have been so discouraged to pursue livestock breeding. Over the years I’ve had so many setbacks and losses of irreplaceable rare birds. The only thing that helps is experience in dealing with health issues and persevering to hatch more babies and increase the quality and number of their species for yourself and the planet. 🌎 🐢 🐓 🐣 🐰

I commend you for your strength, even during these vulnerable moments. I recently started following your channel, because I came across a baby yellow belly slider in a parking lot. And your video on creating a hospital shelter, really helped me out a lot, thank you! My baby was showing signs of an infection & became lethargic very quickly. By day 2, he was gone, & I was so hurt! The impact that baby turtle had made in my life in that short amount of time, was major. May peace be upon you friend. I know exactly the feeling of immense frustration and devastation after working with your animals on so much and for so long and it all going down the drain. I’ve done small animals for about a decade and sometimes it doesn’t matter your experience or how hard you work at it. I’m surprised the vets didn’t begin treatment on everyone exposed to the flukes, as soon as the necropsy results came in. It seems by the time symptoms are present it’s too late. So sad about this Dan

I’m crushed for you. A similar thing happened to my frogs, and it left me so sad knowing that there was nothing I can do as they so rapidly declined. I also feel absolutely dreadful for your friend. Even when you know it’s an accident, the blame and guilt are so heavy and ever-present. That’s a dreadful situation to find yourself in, especially being far from them and such. May your babies now grow well and strong 😢 I deeply admire your ethics, and deeply empathize regarding your views of most breeders. Really scummy people see this kind of situation as a monetary loss, but in all actuality, it’s deeply upsetting and painful.

I just subbed after running across one of the Pipsqueak shorts. I'm not a turtle nerd, yet... I am a shrimp and fish nerd. But I've always loved tortoises and I'm quickly falling in love w the turts. I'm so sorry for your loss, sending love and support from the uk also if you have like a wooden fence around the pond, putting a copper pipe around the edge with stop snails from climbing up, it's mostly used for growing vegetables but it would work for ponds too

Like you said you cant dwell on the past and what has happened you can only learn from that and use it in care for future animals. This could happen to anyone and they were very lucky to be your animals, they were so loved and taken care of so well.

Bro, so sorry, that is heartbreaking.......poor lil babies... i lost two cats real fast to sickness that couldn't be fixed, thankfully my terrapin is always indoors....which i feel terrible about but i dont have the room or money to make a pond. but god......so devastating.... please feel better man. i know that probably doesn't help...but what else can we do or say?

I literately stared at my turt and pictured myself In your shoes and got extremely upset. I pray for you and working through this hardship. I could never imagine the pain you’re going through. It was even more heart breaking when you starting to talk about memories of certain turtles and smiling in the process. Just know your turtles were loved and had the greatest life to the fullest because of you. You’ll see them again some day. Hope this season is easier than you hope it to be. Once again I’ll be praying. Sucks man.

My Condolences for your terrible loss. They had something resistant to treatment. Everything was done within your power to help them. Wish that the fungus, fluke, virus could be isolated and the fast acting deadly reason could be found why it took them.

There’s nothing more frustrating than to have a pet, who for me are my family members, who gets so sick through no fault of yours or anyone else’s and there seems to be absolutely nothing you can do to save them. It has happened to me and it broke me for a good week or 2 before I could push through and even then, I could only push through because I got myself a new baby to help heal my heart. That was about 8 or 9 years ago and I still have the odd moment where I feel the intense pain of losing Max. But to lose so many around the same time. That is just awful. And your friend….. oh my goodness I know how difficult that whole time must have been for him. Not only does he lose some of his animals, but to also lose some of a friends animals as well………💔 and guilt would be unimaginable. Thank you for being open and sharing this awful experience with your audience and anyone else who comes across your video, like me! As this is the first time I am watching one of your videos. I'm so sorry for your loss it is never easy deal with this kind of thing..... I went through something similar with the rabbit I have as my icon Pic. I still don't know what happened but she got sick started showing symptoms and then about a litte over a week after I got her checked out at the vet she was gone. She was a beautiful pure bred Chocolate Japanese Harley Quinn who was a little over 2 years old. I had lost rabbits in Years past but she hit me harder than the others. She was more special to me because I had raised her from 6 weeks old. The unfortunate thing is with animals that are often prey to many animals they hide their symptoms until it is pretty severe. I agree that the best thing to do in this situation is to move forward and learn from it. And help anyone else who is going through this.

I'm so sorry, Dan, and I applaud your hard work to get to the bottom of the problems. When you mentioned scales rotting my first thought was Aspergillus fungus; for years I took care of a ball python with a case of that. I was able to keep her comfortable by periodically cleaning the infected spots with Massengill douche, of all things (recommended by the vet at the zoo where I worked) and watered-down Betadine, and using warm water and blunt tweezers to remove any shed bits that were stuck on her. She never was able to shake the infection entirely, but her quality of life was comfy enough that there was never a need to euthanize her -- I just made sure that she never came in contact with any other herptiles!
