The half nuts on my south bend lathe had seen better days, to be honest they were well and truly munted. So, I set about making a repair that would allow the threads to be replaced, as and when the need arises. I hope you enjoy the Video
I had hoped to assemble the apron and get these half nuts up and running, but there is another problem that needs more attention in amongst the gears. The issue is with the sliding worm gear, it is held in place by two bushes, it in turn slides along the lead screw along the keyway, this in turn is held inplace by two threaded locking rings, these rings have worn the bushes to such an extent that they have buried themselves into the bushes in turn require replacement.
