@@renatoparra9780 He doesn't like being known as the "Minecraft guy." He's been trying to branch out and create his own music and everyone just either points out/compares it to his Minecraft music. He's vented about it quite a bit on his Reddit page, and I'm assuming his music not being in Smash has something to do with it.
if he doesnt want to be the "Minecraft guy" why doesn't he hand the copyright to the Minecraft tracks to Microsoft or Mojang? That'd be the easiest way to sever ties with Minecraft completely
When I first heard the original I thought it was going to be Sweden because of the piano and it probably being the the most iconic Minecraft song so this is was very nice to find.
I don’t understand why C418 didn’t let this happen, if my first work turned out to be for one of the most popular games of all time in the future I’d be honored
@@rep9303 This really wasn't Microsoft or C418's fault, it was really just a disagreement. You see, when C418 was making music for Minecraft, the music he made was entirely owned by him because it was very much still an indie game made by a small team at the time. And since the music was entirely his, he decided to allow everyone to freely use it. When Microsoft bought Minecraft, they still wanted him to make music for the game, but in order to do that, he had to agree that all the music he made for Microsoft was owned by Microsoft, he really didn't want that, he wanted his own music to belong to him and for everyone to use it in his name, so he stopped making music for Minecraft. It wasn't anyone's fault, it was just a corporation trying to keep it's integrity, and an individual trying to keep their individuality.
i think this may also be the reason pigstep or any of the nether update songs aren't in smash, strange as it seems lena is likely open to her songs being in smash since she made a tweet regarding discussing thinking of "hanging out with sakurai and discussing madeline mii fighter" back when sans happened (which implied all major mii fighters come with remixed music), so it's most likely them not wanting to put any maingame minecraft song because c418 didn't accept
The good timeline where we get to actually listen to classic Minecraft songs instead of random music from Minecraft Dungeons, the game we all forgot existed until this moment
I think the reason why it wasnt used for smash was probably because of the fact that sweden (or any music) in minecraft was far too calm for a fighting game, Steve had lots of fighting game potential and they put it to good use, for the music I think the reason why was because in minecraft dungeons you're actually fighting. And btw, minecraft dungeons was pretty big during release... Just saying...
@@JoeContext Sakurai did say on Famitsu that some remixes had to be dropped mid-development when they found out they couldn't use the Minecraft OST, so it's 100% possible the composers reworked those early arrangements into the final versions (or at least kept some ideas from them).
Nah halland was actually a cooler choice since it highlights other minecraft composers than just c418 and also less overrated and known to the general public than sweden
@@torino20 Well, now we've gotten no track made by C418. Halland/Dalarna is a great remix and is deserving of being in Smash, but there should've been something like this too. At least one song made by C418.
@@TicTacToeCraft I mean if they picked something from him I would hace prefered they picked some of his most underrated songs, like Cat, Ward, Living Mice, Mall, Aria Math, Haggstrom or just anything that isn't Sweden or the overplayed main theme, also some Lena Raine would have been nice
I can see it. Decades from now, another gigaleak happens. Early Ult music files are discovered. The early version of Halland / Dalarma is found. It has the melody of Sweden.
The reasoning tracks from the main game weren't remixed and added into Smash is because neither Mojang nor Microsoft actually own the rights to the original game's music, C418 does. Either C418 declined to having them be in the game, or they just didn't feel like asking him Edit: This is also why any new tracks added to Minecraft aren't by C418, cause Microsoft wants the rights to any new music he would make for Minecraft, and he doesn't want that. I think it's most likely that if they made remixes for Smash then Nintendo would want the rights to them, which would have caused the same situation
Apparently they asked C418 and he replied that they never asked him to put his music in Smash. Considering how strict Sakurai is with representation, it might have been Microsoft's choice to not contact C418.
YOOOO THIS IS SO GOOD?!?! How does this not have more views? Really did a great job. I felt like I saw a vision of what could’ve happened but unfortunately didn’t. Very impressed
Considering how much of a legal battle it definitely was getting Sora in, I'll give the Smash team a pass for not fighting the legal battle for this one
By the way, GGalactical, could you upload more of your songs to RU-vid? It's the main place I listen to music, and I would like to listen to your music more often.
plot twist: this is actually the song that was originally in the game, but then nintendo realized their fans would love this, so they changed it into a lesser song.
I wouldn't have thought getting Minecraft music would be difficult. But I don't know. Maybe Nintendo just didn't want to negotiate with another party, C418, and just stuck to the Microsoft owned tracks. There were scrapped music tracks, maybe they were remixes of C418's work.
