Of the thousands of times Ive heard this song over the years I have NEVER been touched by the lyrics like I have with your rendition, Frank. I’m a 55 yr old US Navy 100% disabled combat veteran. Ive seen things and done things in my life that people shouldn’t have to see and do. I’ve experienced the worst life has to offer. As I wipe the tears from my eyes I can now say I have experienced some of the truly best life has to offer. You’ve made a mate for life, Frank. Thank you for filling my heart with joy 🙏
One of my favorite versions so far. A lot of people cover this song with extreme runs and exaggerated falsettos and vibratos and all that fancy-singer stuff that end up leaving the essence of the song behind, however yours is so humble and honest that really showcases the value of the song, totally love it.
I agree 100%. Jennifer Hudson's version just makes me screech. I think Frank here and the late Jeff Buckley did it justice and would make Mr. Cohen proud. "It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah" is the essence of the piece. To me at least
Completely agree. My parents both love KD Lang's version and it was too much variance for me, although genuinely full of technique and talent and heart. Frank's version here makes me thing of a Wainwright-Buckley hybrid, and his voice is just raw and beautiful. I love it. If you don't listen to Malcolm Gladwell's podcast "Revisionist History," you might want to check out Episode 07 (named Halleluja, go figure). It takes a look at the evolution of the song and how it's just one of those things that continues to evolve. One of my favourite episodes :)
I think that there is not another way to describe how you can feel the song he is so much in the song that he bring you in with is voice full of emotion not like the way they sing now or play guitar I could listen to him and fall asleep or cry because he make me feel the music that man can sing better than some people that goes on tour around the world he beat a lot of them nice voice so soft
Oh my. Five years ago I had to watch my sister pass. She unfortunately had a cancerous brain tumor and left at the young age of 53. Some of my fondest memories are of me playing this song on my guitar in her kitchen while she sang this song with me. On May 23, 2015 she slipped into the ether quietly from her bed as we all gathered around her. This song was playing on the radio. And I know she would have just adored hearing you play this. Thanks for sharing.
My Mom passed from a brain tumor on the same date in 2019. I am so sorry for your loss. Frank, I just love you. Thank you for sharing with the world. It would be a shame if you hadn’t. ❤
... chills and tears.. This song is the most covered/recorded (over 200+ times) ever.. THIS , YOUR VERSION.. what a hauntingly beautiful soulful gut wrenching rendition. I got to see Leonard sing this (he was age 82 and played a 4 hr set, dancing on and off stage.. life changing moment) *HE WOULD BE PROUD: THIS IS JUSTICE TO HIS SONG*✨️🕯✨️
I love how you bring your own spirit into these songs. You are a shining light in the collective beauty and power across generations. Ultimately, we are all better together.
I am from Leonard Cohens hometown of Montreal, and as such, a big fan. You gave me shivers with this cover! It's beautiful. I have listened to all of your originals as well, you are a true talent. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Dreamy Frank, As a Canadian and a poet, Cohen has such a deep strong place in my heart. I rarely like people’s versions of this because they are to clean and impersonal. This one is beautiful. You did it justice❤️
Just discovered Frank and wow! I’m just now going through all of his songs. We have the same taste in music. So cool to find someone in their older years find music and RU-vid to be able to share their passion with the rest of us. Cheers!
Frank, I just cant stop watching your covers. I cannot tell the live you've lived but the way your composure, voice and evocative ways you sing, truly tells how much of a wonderful person you are :)
Here from TikTok! After I watched/listened to three of your most recents I was like “his voice would sound perfect covering Hallelujah” found it and am not disappointed! Amazing!

Frank We Love You in France ! Great Soul my Friend, Bro! Hallelujah! Christophe
This is one of my favourite songs of all time and you just made me see it in a whole new light, I don't know if you're told it enough but you are a truly talented man. ❤
Thank god for the blessed RU-vid algorithm which has made me discover this gem! This is my favourite version and I have listened to almost half of all the covers you've uploaded (on a Watkinson binge atm but I don't mind). This made me smile, cry and feel at peace. Love this and all of your covers.
So happy to have found your channel. I have not heard a cover of yours I have not loved! Sending positivity and good vibes. Also going to share with my kids. They will love you to. Your original music is so beautiful, fantastic!
