Mitch has such a clear tenor tone that blends with Kristie so well. But Avi's unique base just makes the song quiver with depth. this group is special.
[Lyrics] (fixed) I've heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do ya? Well it goes like this: the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, hmm Well, your faith was strong, but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to the kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Well baby, I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Well, maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who has seen the Light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Zachary Goddard Millions with the potential maybe. A cappella is a hard thing to master, and the blend of these voices is phenomenal. The odds they came from the same place makes it rare.
I would say amazing that three people with the capacity to push to fulfill their dreams and the work it required all in the same place is far more amazing. They definately are talented people, but they have come a ways since they started. All the vocalists have cleaned up pitch and the live performances keep getting better.
Last count it was five people that made this dream come true. It started with Scott and then he called in his two friends and then they called in Avi and then Kevin. Without the five I don't know that we would be getting to listen to this great music today.
Anthony Hernandez I knew them long before, but didn't pay much attention. But on New years even this song played on a tv and I fell in live with them all over again.
*REST IN PEACE LEONARD COHEN* MAY YOUR MUSIC LIVE ON FOREVER. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AWE OF THIS RENDITION JUST LIKE WE ALL ARE ALSO. THANK YOU FOR GIFTING THE WORLD WITH YOUR MAGIC AND POETRY. *RIP TO A TRUE VIP*
my Brother who was 40 was murdered in 2016 and this song played at his funeral and it makes me cry every single time . Aging is a blessing that is denied to many May He sleep in Heavenly peace ♥️🙏🏽
I love how everyone else is peacefully singing this beautiful song with a calm and soft voice and then there is Kevin slapping the shit out of himself and kicking the ground.
@@sprinkles4375 Have you heard Ave Maria's vokals performed by Dimash Kudaybergen? This is a beautiful prayer without words, something incredible like angels singing. Думаю не пожалеете,он невероятный.
You guys were my parents favorite group. At 70+ they were excited to attend your concert just a few years ago. They're both gone 😢 . Thank you for your doing what you do!❤
Michael Vilain That was my favorite thing about the new album, it's balanced; on their original one almost everything was sung by Scott. I hope they will continue this trend in the future
Anhell Hana I love songs like these where everyone's voices is shown off but I do also think it is important to have a lead singer though. I love Scott's voice so I may be slightly biased lol.
I Pray That Pentatonix, Their Team And Everyone Who's Watching This Will Live A Healthy And Happy Life. May God Bless Pentatonix, All Of The People Watching This, Your Families And Your Friends. Praise The Lord. Amen.❤🙏
Halleluyah means, “Praise YAH!” Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV). YAH, which means ‘I AM’, in Hebrew, is the name which is above every name revealed to Moses (Exodus 3:13-15). Christ acknowledged that His name is YAH, as in YAH Saves, which is YAHSHUA because He has the name which is above every name. For He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM {YAH}” (John 8:58). “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The Heavenly Father revealed the Savior’s name: YAHSHUA. The apostle Paul, on the road to Damascus, encountered the Savior, who introduced His name to him in Hebrew as YAHSHUA. The apostle Paul actually wrote the one name, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! YAHSHUA is the name of salvation, and the gospel warns us not to reject His name: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). The Savior’s name is YAHSHUA, and any other names are counterfeits (Rev. 12:9).
Cyan Dragon As a music major, I can tell you that if you read music, the didn't chance much of anything other the adding more percussion. It's a nice cover.
Lyrics I heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? Well it goes like this: the fourth, the fifth The minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah [x4] Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to her kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah [x4] Baby I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor (you know) I used to live alone before I knew you And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah [x4] There was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me, do you? But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah [x4] Maybe there's a God above All I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah [x13]
This was my first experience with Pentatonix(years ago-I just go back and revisit this video time and time again). I get shivers every time I watch this video. How can they all be so perfect??? The pitch, the harmony, the rhythm-each different with so much power in their styles and voices. I just can't pick a favorite out of them I love them all the same. I miss the voice of the one who left (left in such a wonderful way-to note) and I love the new guy just as much. This is just a fabulous group!!!
Actually I don’t care. Your not the only one who has lost someone and this song is a popular one to play at funerals so your not special. Coming to RU-vid comments for likes makes me salty
@@uhoh5776 Does that makes you feel better? And yes, she is for sure not the only person who lost someone but that person she lost meant something to her. She isn't here for likes, she is here because she wanted to say how beautiful that song is and how it remembers her of the beautiful person she lost. You don't know anything about that person so shut up! Better for everyone.
Barbara Kingcake that is so true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for someone to say that! ( well not exactly that- but similar!) that's a very nice 👍🏾 comment! I like that you give credit to the singers and saying that they inspire kids!!! Thank you pentatonix and
I didn't get him at first, I thought his voice reminded me of that creepy kid from Children of the Corn, but now it gives me chills every time he sings.
I'd be honored if some Pentatonix fans who appreciate 80s/90s classics would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of PURPLE RAIN by Prince and PRAYING FOR TIME by George Michael on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the greatest vocalist-songwriters in music history. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and RESPECT to the legends of both yesterday and today.
This isn't really the Christmas version. There is one out there that is. There are so many verses to this song. Leonard Cohen wrote like 60+ verses to his hallelujah. Others have put Christmas verses in it. John legend and Carrie underwood did one that is more Christmas.
My Grandfather wasn't a religious man, but really loved this song. I miss him so much. He was such a good man in a time that didn't have a lot of legitimate "GOOD" men. He was a special breed of human and I miss him so greatly. He was one of my first best friends. I wish I had realized that before he was gone. But looking back now, it's so clear. I hope I make him proud.
To me the one that gave me chills was Mitch starting in 3:02 - 3:16 . OMG that Note was out of this world amazing!! Perfect vibrato and beautiful high note. AMAZING
Ever since I heard this song 4 years ago, I always imagined myself walking down the aisle with this song. This April I got to walked down the aisle with this beautiful song, it was such an amazing feeling and experience. Thank you Pentatonix for this unique and beautiful version ♥️
There isn't a single comment in this entire section that isn't wholesome and kind and beautiful... music like this is so healing and pure and it truly brings out the best in all of us.
