28:26 "Michael just wanted a hug the whole time." Holy shit, I lost it! I remember watching it on VHS and rewinding the ending over and over. Between the shot of Micheal's body being gone, the theme music being cued up, Loomis' reaction, Laurie crying, the shots of previous locations, and Michael's heavy breathing....it all came together beautifully and gave me chills. Had no other sequels been made, I believe the ending would be even more highly regarded than it already is. But almost a dozen sequels and decades of the cliché that the killer isn't dead at the end have taken some of the oomph away.

I’m a huge huge fan of another RU-vid reviewer named Decker shado, he’s usually very Meticulous and intelligent with his reviews. He did this series last year and said that halloween was boring and Michael Myers wasn’t intimidating, and said the acting was poor and honestly he really dropped the ball in my opinion. But where he drops the ball you knock it right out the park dr wolfula, you nail everything that makes Halloween so special, the atmosphere, the moody lighting, the way Michael walks, you hit it all and really encapsulate why Halloween is a movie still worth watching today. I usually enjoy you for your snarky reviews but when a movie like Halloween or texas chainsaw deserves more you never fail to deliver and explain why.

Turns out the actor who played Laurie's father was Peter Griffith. His first wife was Tippi Hendren, star of Alfred Hitchcock films The Birds and Marnie. Their granddaughter went on to star in the most horrifying films of the 2010s, The 50 Shades of Grey trilogy.

The one thing that I feel like is always missing from these reviews of Halloween is the stare that Loomis gives at the end. He's not surprised. He's not dreading in fear. He knew this was going to happen. His facial expression is subtle yet powerful.
@Sjb99-f1s
@Sjb99-f1s 3 года назад
I like how this movie (and the sequel) doesn’t really dive into any of the protagonists’ backstory, notwithstanding the reveal at the end of Halloween 2. More than any other one of these it feels like it’s really a day in the life of some normal people who are interrupted by this horror. You know all you need to know just from these characters interacting and going through their life like usual before Michael catches them. Even halloween 4, which is good in it’s own way, spends a lot of effort fleshing out the characters who Michael Myers will stalk and with it so heavily tied into the backstory of Michael Myers from the get go, it makes it standout less from the crowd of slashers like this film.

Fabulous work, Doc. No one should ever question or complain about your choices. They should feel lucky you take time out of the strict daily regiment of abuse you inflict on Ghoulash to even make videos. If you want to review Halloween or anything they should be happy. It also gives Ghoulash time to heal...or does he regenerate? Maybe sews fresh slabs of flesh on his wounds? Maybe not so fresh? He is mostly green. You know what, I don't really want to know, so back to my original point, the fandom should just be grateful for whatever you decide to do.

I'm not usually into most slashers, but the first Halloween film is one that i love. The reason being is that it has a slow burn with plenty of tension even when no one is being killed. It shows him stalking and skulking around as a varied cast of characters who feel like everyday people going about their work-a-day lives and talking about this urban legend-esque figure. It kind of makes you wonder, "If Michael Meyers could kill as a little kid, what kind of remorseless monster could he have become now?" The thing is, I also always got the feeling that Michael may not be entirely responsible for his actions, at least not cognitively. It seems to me that he may have some kind of psychosis that drives him to suddenly kill out of nowhere without any cognitive awareness of his own actions. This movie does an excellent job of making Michael seem as though he is no longer truly human due to whatever it is that drives his crimes. It's almost as though his humanity blacks out and there is nothing left but the calculating monster within. Due to his condition he can't be reasoned with and he has no conscious awareness as a human being to appeal to emotionally. As far as we know Michael the man in this state just isn't there. The Shape, the Boogieman, the monster behind those dark eyes, the urban legend made manifest is all that remains.

I guarantee that if some apocalyptic event which could wipe humanity out were to take place; and the government took it upon itself to try and preserve human art and culture. A copy of this film would be locked in a bunker somewhere alongside ninety-nine other greatest movies of all time. I’m just saying, this is possibly one of the greatest horror films ever made. John Carpenter had next to nothing as far as movie budgets went- even by the standards of that time- and yet he singlehandedly made a masterpiece out of what he had. Regardless of how one may feel about horror, that’s pure talent right there..

Some timing this video came out right as I bought my copy of Halloween.

BTW The original Laser Disc special Edition let you program the TV scenes in their Proper Order to make it flow better when watching the Theatrical Version inserting the Scenes filmed in 1981 during the Halloween 2 filming. Some Laser Disc players let you watch certain CHAPTERS in different orders.

20:22 Bob looks just like my Dad when he was young, so I always say this is the scene Michael killed my PAW!
