I had the same theory. Corey had gained some supernatural abilities. I did not think Corey could have overpowered even the weakened Michael with normal human strength. Michael showed by one arm choking the female victim in the house, he had a level of superhuman strength available. Corey could be the new MM still. The could retcon Halloween or even a soft reboot, or dream scenario to give the franchise an out.
