I didn't notice Yoda's Theme cleverly placed in there until now.

I've always noticed it, but I didn't notice the following chromatic bars after it were also a play on Yoda's theme! Very clever!

This is still my all-time favorite film score...it’s hauntingly beautiful, inspiring, uplifting, and it boggles my mind how a person can compose music like this...it seems more complicated and intricate than is humanly possible. When it launches into the bike flying, that crescendo and release makes goosebumps over my whole body. Music is amazing.

My local symphony orchestra had an event where they would play the entire score live in concert as we watched the complete film. It's a memorable experience to be able to feel the music pop right out of the screen, watching this video reminded me of that night. Though I wish I were there when they performed Jurassic Park

I saw Jurassic Park with an orchestra, but honestly if there's no choir it doesn't work.

I went to see this movie with my father as a child. Afterwards he immideately bought the LP with the soundtrack. And my 5 year old self was mightily impressed how analytical he was about listening to it. He had noticed right away that the great flying theme is a development of the opening picolo call that starts the movie and pointed it out to me.

I've always heard the second movement (game of pairs) of Bartok's 'Concerto for Orchestra' in the opening vignettes of double reeds then trumpets. Great music, as always! Thanks for making these videos, Brad!

Yes, almost as if it served as a temp track. Maybe, too, it was inspired by the very title, "The Presentation of the Pairs", as Eliot and ET's first appearance in public together.

Bartok composed a lot of music, especially the Concerto, based on heavily on intervals. It's almost like he set rules for himself when composing. Each set of instruments in the Concerto plays in succession with one another: 2 Bassoons first, then 2 Oboes, then 2 Clarinets. Each are defined by different intervals. Williams obviously focuses heavily on patterns of intervals in the beginning of this excerpt. I can definitely see why it comes to mind. Concerto is one of my all-time favourites.

That modulation at the end is really out of this world.

Seriously, how do they find musicians to play these passages? That woodwind part looks cancerous.
@TiagoNugentComposer

It's a combination of really good players and smart orchestration. The musicians who play on film scores are the best sight readers in the world, but they're still human. The way he gets the woodwinds to sound like they're playing forever without breathing is to alternate between two different players. Flute 1 plays 2 bar, then flute 2 plays the next, and they switch.

1:04 - 1:15 is so gorgeous. I have ripped that off so many times. 😇... and it works every time. The magic lies in the transitional material.

Bartok's concert for orchestra, II -Giuoco delle coppie. That reference it's a bit to obvious at the beggining

I wonder if the triangle additions in the opening were to address a note from SS.

Do you think it's likely that they used ET as a temp for Buckbeak's flight? Seems way to close of a cut to be done otherwise - through regardless it's clearly an homage.

Beautiful work on this, many thanks for sharing these resources with the world. Where/how do you get the exact movie clips you are looking for when doing these? I'm practicing some synthestration and it could be cool to have the film clip in the DAW session.

This is amazing work! I was wondering if you could do one of my favorite scores from The Adventures of Tintin. You can buy the whole score here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/the-duel-from-the-adventures-of-tintin-sheet-music/20443277?aff_id=15025 I'd love to see one of my favorite Williams scores transcribed by you!😁
