It all looks awesome, we have some of those little pillars and just love them. That paint technique really works well and is perfect for the stone cemetery type props Nice job =)
Its hard to say, the gray I use its a medium shade but really its up to you as you can make it lighter or darker depending how much you apply. After 25 stones you will be an expert!!
I got them from Kingmetals-com I ordered the 3/4 inch plastic ones which fit over the 1/2 inch pvc when heated with a heat gun first. They are pretty cheap and ship really quick!
I know I'm three years late but great video. Can you tell me where you got the raven statue column? I've been looking for that kind of thing for a long time!
I am thinking of building a monster mud graveyard statue. I can see the dry brush on a smooth surface such as the tombstone, but would dry brushing work on the folds and creases on the statue or would another technique be better?
I see that you put down the black first, but my question is are you dry brushing with a grey or white color? Also do you add polystyrene to the paint to help protect the tombstone against the outside elements?
I am using exterior latex paint without anything else and so far its been holding up to the Florida rain and sun pretty well now. I have thought about a matte clear coat but havent tried it yet!
