Back with more Halloween Tombstones. We're making sturdy wind proof Halloween tombstone decorations with plywood. These homemade large heavy duty DIY Halloween graveyard props are the perfect DIY Halloween decor. Instead of carving foam DIY tombstones we decided making tombstone decorations for our spooky Halloween graveyard out of strong, sturdy and longer lasting material. If you are building Halloween fake gravestones or easy Halloween foam tombstones for a scary cemetery scene then check this out. This video shares a close look at how we made these heavy duty plywood Halloween tombstone DIY props for a creepy and spooky cemetery Halloween display or yard haunt. We made these three examples for a cosplay photo op scene. You could always add funny tombstone sayings and epitaphs after you build these with a router or Dremel tool. The old overgrown gravestones also come with matching cemetery columns and walls. Which tombstone WOOD you make? Would you just purchase the cheap foam Halloween tombstones each year from Walmart? Or make DIY Halloween tombstones out of cardboard. Thanks for watching!

Just a tip: go to your local hot tub dealer and ask if they have any old hot tub covers that they don't want and then use the hi-density foam to carv your tombstones.

matt Fiscus hey Matt that is a really great idea to get free foam. People are giving hot tubs away all the time. Thanks for the comment it has us thinking now 🤔

I think a combination of the plywood and foam tombstones would ve good as well. The plywood would add the weight while the foam makes it easier to add age and epitaphs to. Thanks for the video and idea!
@bransonhauntedhills
@bransonhauntedhills 7 лет назад
I like to use both. Foam stone with a wooden base. It gives it the weight so it doesn't go flying away and you can still carve into the foam. I just had someone give me a tombstone made from concrete with packing peanuts in it. It looks really heavy but it's not. Just the right weight. (it is small) I love how you made these stones. The leaning one is my favorite.

I loved this video. I was watching it in between putting decoration touches on my home haunt. My wife yelled from the other side of the haunt , "We dont need anymore tombstones". Mine are constructed with 2 pieces of MDF and 2×4 scraps. I then monster mudded them and place them into the ground using rebar. It keeps them safe and sound in 35 knot winds! Also the 3/4 inch MDF stops vandals from destroying them.

They both have there prod and cons ... Plywood separates the laminate sections I made up a few and painted with that Graber effect and had them stored in the shed and they started to fall apart ... But still better than foam this was a very good video...

I use both wood and foam, both have their pros and cons. I've even repurposed old tower speakers and turned them into tombstones. That was 8 years ago and I still use them in my home haunt. Foam is definitely quicker, but wood holds up a lot better over time

Foam is easier for me but for something that's in a photo ops I think this is a great idea. One of the reasons I don't live in Southern California is the heat and here I am in the north west and it's 106. Missing the rain now.

I sure others may have the same idea but what combining both foam and wood. Using the wood to build the fundamental part of the tombstone while carving the front out of foam. Upside too you can change the fronts out whenever you want.

I'm looking into tombstones that aren't foam but I'm not sure if I'll buy or make them yet. Buying seems easier but I see the fun in customizing them myself. I just don't foam. Bought 3 foam tombs last year and before the 31st 2/3 were broken by the wind. I'll be keeping this video in mind. Thanks for this! :)

What about a hybrid foam/plywood tombstone? You could make the base with the door for weight and attaching lights, then attached a detailed foam upper some way so that you can have the best of both. No flying foam tombstones, and they might even be easier to store since you could stack bases one place and headstone another stack.

So call me crazy. But I'm already planning on Halloween decorations and its only May! Found a construction site of a new home being built with a bunch of lumber in a trash pile this evening and didn't realize I was trespassing til the Cops showed up and gave me a warning! Fortunately they let me drive off with all the scrap plywood and lumber so ive got a huge pile sitting in my garage! Can't wait to get things started! Great video man. I'm gonna try and follow what you did here witht the tools I have. Alreadyb getting other items like low lying fog and lighting ready.

I hear all your concerns about wear and tear, durability and theft-proofing. That's why I make all my tombstones out of granite slabs. And for added realism, I bury real caskets underneath. With dead people in them. For realism. That, and also because I work at a cemetery.

Your video inspired me to build some wooden tombstones. I like how they are turning out I used a router to carve out epitaph we have Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers next marker maybe Freddy Krueger. The question I have for you two is about security . How do you keep the graveyard or headstones from being stolen. Thanks love the channel you guys make great props.
@HollywoodHaunter
@HollywoodHaunter 5 лет назад
So here are a couple ideas that we have done in the past. One is to drill holes somewhere in the prop and run your extension cords etc. in and out through everything so that if someone was to try and swipe something it would be complicated because everything is connected to each other if that makes sense. You could also lag screw or install an eyebolt to the prop and attach some steel cable wire rope with clips and u-bolts to a tree or something stationary. I set up something like this in one of our large pumpkin videos if your interested. Thanks for watching.

ROFl dude you are funny and YES! I do know what you are talking about .. last year I started working on my Halloween display in the last week of Sep. I worked 7 days a week from 6am till 11pm everyday until Halloween day itself when I finely able to carve my pumpkins .. but, what's that?? KIDS AT THE DOOR!? It's 1pm!! .. yeaaa not a single pumpkin got carved sigh.. So this year I started 2 weeks ago I had 300+ people show up last year so this year I wanted to go bigger, as I tend to say and do every year lol and the one thing I need is MORE TOMBSTONES!! Cast Risen are a bitch to find and way too high priced I do not like cheap foam but, I did make a castle entrance to my torture dungeon from 2" x 4' x 8" sheet foam used my router to carve stone brick work into it cracks etc painted added moss it was a real hit, but, we had really high winds last oct and just ripped it to shreds last yea so I had to destroy it after Halloween it won't see another season so I have to go MORE OSB this year! And I was not thinking of making tombstones out of ply or osb because its just so heavy. But, DAMN you made it look good and gave me plenty of ideas! Thanks for the video I subbed and Thumbs up hope to see more ideas from you this year. Also I will be making a few of my own animatronics this year as well any tips??
