Here's a time-lapse of a smoky Jack-O-Lantern mini painting. I like to paint in layers because it helps give the subject or item a more realistic look. Instead of shading the pumpkin's shadows with just black I've mixed deep violet and orange to give it a vibrant look. Then darker areas I used black. This was a lot of fun to do and I hope it inspires you to try it. Thanks for watching!

The acrylic paint I use for this painting is Liquitex Basics, but you can use what you have.
Wood colours: Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Unbleached Titanium, Titanium White and Mars Black. (some of these colours I've also used for the stem)
Pumpkin colours: Yellow Naples, Cadmium orange, and Deep Violet.
Smoke: Transparent Mixing White (love this because it's transparent and great for doing special effects).
