I can relate to the Doctor Who story; 9-yr-old me used to binge the Science channel and by dinnertime I'd get lightheaded and despondent with all the ways I just learned our species could get wiped out in an instant by shit like our galaxy being torn apart by Andromeda when they inevitably collide or the sun going "red giant" and slow-cooking us like the delicious leftover roast turkey from Thanksgiving that I no longer had the appetite for. Shit got real af.

One of the coolest parts of Halloween for me were the homemade costumes my father made or helped make for me, or the few I made myself even though they weren't as good. The first time when I was in preschool, I was a dope firefighter with an air tank and everything. Another time my dad made my brother and I some really cool Transformers Armada costumes. I was Optimus Prime and my brother was Jet Fire. It was the coolest.

When I was a kid, I was terrified of E.T. When my grandfather was on his deathbed (cancer), the last birthday I had with him he got me the E.T. Special Edition on DVD. I was still terrified of it at that stage, and I knew it.

I feel so weird cause I wasn't scared of these things as a kid. I feel like i was supposed to be scared of a lot of things, but I just wasn't. I actually liked most of those creepy things. Wanted my toys to look weird like in Toy Story too, but i felt bad for the toys so i didn't do anything to them.

I learned of the concept of death at like 3 or 4 years old and it scared the fuck out of me. Initially the fear was that I'm the youngest so everyone will die before me and I'll be alone so I hade terrible separation anxiety but like 2 years later I started becoming very acutely aware of the fact I'm viewing everything in first person and that I have eyes in my skull and I'd look at my hands and wonder what they'd look like 10 years from now, 20 years from now and then the realisation hit me that one day I won't be able to see anymore and I'm going to die and everything will end and that terrified the fuck out of me.
