In the games/canon, they don't actually find the first Halo ring randomly or by luck It's explained in the books that Cortana intercepted the coordinates from a covenant transmission and initiated a "blind jump" to those coordinates

Soren's arm didn't take particularly well to Halsey's augmentations. This was kind of a weird episode but I still liked it. I was hoping there was some kind of bigger reveal at the end also. I'm thinking the keystones will need to be brought to the portal and they will work together to make a map to either a Halo or the entire array, I really hope it's not just a portal to a Halo.. That seems like something the Forerunners wouldn't do. Everything is being set up but there's only two episodes left and a lot of story to piece together in short time.

I'm concerned about this portal and mystic story line. Just doesn't fit with the rest of the story, even in this timeline. I don't want some portal to be how they find halo. It has to something like silver team does an op to recover the 2nd artifact and gets it to Reach. They discover the rings location and Reach gets attacked and they flee on the Pillar of Autumn with final scene being the start of Halo CE.

No insult meant to the actress that plays Kwan, but the character adds nothing to the story. The discovery of some magical portal could have been done in any number of ways using the primary characters. We don’t need an angry, whining teenager to add this new element to the plot. I wish they would just focus on the Spartans.

She is a primary character. It's an ensemble cast, there's no main protagonist. That said I really don't care for her either.

Soren's body rejected the Spartan augmentations making him not only much smaller but also having massive deformity's, in canon he was unable to ware even the spartan armor and was way more disfigured than he is in the show, one side effect is that was apparently stronger than any of the Spartans. As for the portal i do not think it is a literal portal, I think it is more like a portal of knowledge much like a mirror used to be called a portal.

enough with this kill her off like yesterday why are we watching a halo show and its a Coin toss if it will even be a "halo" episode - we wasted way to much time just make the show 30 min because for some reason you cant find a way to make a hour long halo show

This episode was terrible. The writers had no idea what to do with Soren. He got off Madrigal somehow, he's pulling a heist, he's back on Madrigal and knows where Kwan Ha is. Also it really shows the director didn't respect Kwan Ha's character either by having her drive in an open vehicle at high speed heading toward the dust storm... and no wind. They didn't have the awareness to at least blow a fan in the actress's face to simulate wind.

The mystics people in Madrigal is very similiar to the dryads from the witcher, even the leader is the same actor.

I didn't mind the episode..... in general. I do like Soran and his misadventures and the rest of the Insurrectionists before they were just.... killed off in the first episode intrigued me, but I just can not find myself caring about Kwan Ha.

I wonder if its a portal to Halo (that is what i see people assuming), or a portal to something else like the Ark or a shield world and would link up much further down in the story. There are lots of important destinations in the Halo universe....

The "sheer luck" of the original game was actually explained in the books that Cortona figured out the destination from artifacts and put the coordinates in for the "random" jump.

Madrigal might be a Forerunner Shield World- and the apparition that spoke to Kwan's ancestors might be the world's Monitor. Hell, my crazy land theory is that, when both Artifacts are combined in the finale, the center will light up as....Guilty Spark. Wouldn't everyone shit if that Guilty Spark voice was the last scene?

Meh. They've made Kwan's story integral to the plot but I'm just not that interested. I liked it when she found John's gun. It was a neat representation of the thread that links them together. I'm just not a fan of fate/destiny stories because I don't believe in those concepts. The shot of the two moons was beautiful. And the effect of watching the line of her ancestors morph into each other and ending with her father was really cool. There wasn't anything inherently wrong with this episode. It just didn't scratch my Master Chief itch.

Probably the best way I’ve heard somebody put into words how I feel about this show as a whole. I don’t hate it at all but I don’t love it and it sucks that I don’t. Because when the war scenes hit, they HIT and John is ACTUALLY john. They use Chief’s personality from the game well. I think this opens doors to other Halo shows/ movies that can tackle other stories cannon or not.

@Author B.L. Alley Kwan is just a little brad no one cares about. If they would give me an entire episode of Miranda and Kai becoming best friends, i would love it... But madam insufferable and her nonsence quest is just... Ruining the series.
