HALO 1x6 Reaction/Review! "Solace"

Halsey wasn't blowing smoke about what the Cortana system could do, but if you remember back to that episode she intentionally prevented/locked out Cortana's ability to take full control which Cortana complained about. As for Miranda, Halsey was recording a retinal scan.

I figure the last scene in episode 9 will be a beautiful Pillar of Autumn floating space, carrying all of our main characters, with a full halo ring in the background. Then cutting to Reach being glassed at the same time.

I played all the games and I'm enjoying the show for what it is. But I still say this is the prelude for the MC we know from the games. We start with Halo right off the bat in the game, MC & Cartana work together. We are very early on before the Halo adventuring Master Chief when John & Cortona are solid and the UNSC rally behind him.

The final sequence with the halo reveal was just awe inspiring, seeing them together on that field showed so much symbolism for the destiny that our species awaits, as if it was the garden of Eden, and they were our Adam and eve. brought a tear to my goddamn eye

I think what Kai was thinking is she was debating telling the other Spartans.

It's ironic that I had relatively no experience with Halo at all before this series. I've started playing the games and diving into lore now because of it. The series is not without it's many eyebrow raising flaws but at they very least, it's been picking up steam lately.

I find this series pretty entertaining. Might be different than the books and games but its doing a really good job at setting things up and keeping it interesting so far

I love the direction the show is going (minus the Kwan Arc). The show is feeling very Game of Thrones with all the drama and politics in most episodes followed by big action pay offs. That's probably how they're going to do these episodes/seasons and hopefully they don't screw it up in the end like GoT.

I loved seeing the halo, also perhaps Kwan’s planet was once visited by the forerunners and that is why she is important?

This show has been fantastic so far. I've loved every single episode. Even the Kwan arc that so many seem to dislike, that's VITALLY important to Halo lore. Life in the Outer Colonies and the impact the Covenant will have there is super important to the overarching Halo story and fiction. So her story is key. It can't be cut out or ignored.

Halsey duplicated and copied Mirandas iris to get access to all systems. She is not emotionless but her tears served a purpose.

I love this show. I even don't mind the side story stuff on Madrigal. The problem with the Madrigal stuff is that it being intercut into the cheif stuff fucks up the pacing. If they would have compiled all of the Madrigal stuff into a single episode or 2 on its own it would have been fine. A note they should have taken from the early seasons of Game of Thrones. You stick with one set of characters per episode. This episode felt more cohesive because it didn't cut away. The previous episode, although it had the great action sequence, still felt chopped up like a regular network show. It even felt like it was cut up for commercial placements.

Also, Halsey didn't fib. Cortana CAN control Master Chief in a more complete way, but Halsey during the episode where Cortana was first implanted into Chief, Halsey intentionally didn't fully integrate her the way Cortana knows she could, granting her more total control. Go back and watch that episode and you will see. Halsey intentionally limited Cortana's level of control over Master Chief.

I finished watching it just now. That halo ring though I loved it so much ❤️ can't wait for more

Hold on so I’m confused. I thought Makee was undercover for the covenant but then she seems to be trying to help chief. Why was she wanting to get out of the room so bad when she pulled out her finger blade thing?

Thank god there was no Kwan in this episode. Every time it faded to black I was worried I would have to watch some meaningless scene with that character. This episode made me want to watch next week's episode just like the last few minutes of ep 5 made me want episode 6. My problem with the Kwan character is that because of editing or writing choices she means nothing to the "Halo" bigger picture. I had hopes when Kwan and Makee were on the same planet but nothing happened. What a lost opportunity to make Kwan matter to that bigger picture. All it would have taken was a scene where Kwan saw Makee ordering around the elites and it would be a race for her to get that info to John, her only UNSC contact. It would have also provided a character growth moment for Kwan as she would have to struggle with staying to carry on her father's rebellion or saving all of humanity. (idk something like that just to make her matter.) Kwan's story is not as interesting as the UNSC v. Convenient race to the sacred ring. If the show sticks to the UNSC/Cove storyline then I'm happy to never revisit Kwan again. (Unless maybe a scene where Soren turns her in for the bounty and returns to his "20's flapper" wife) ;)

Non battle episode done right, surprisingly. One way or another, the "blessed one" is loyal to the Covenant purely through it's religion. Since we know it's religion is a sham, and that that fact will become inescapable, it makes sense that she'll either turn or die. Everything was exponentially better without any of that trash revolution sub plot crap. So much so that I can't help but wonder it wonder if perhaps an entirely different show was folded in as folded into the Halo show as filler, rather than bean being an integral part of it from the start. It's like a substandard, wisely discarded piece of The Expanse was superficially modified and added to this show as padding. Some of the characters are identical and even played by the SAME ACTORS! ☝️🤨 Strange! 🤪👈

So I saw sneak peak into next weeks episode and the writers are starting to piss me off with this Kwan character. We get some reveals in this episode about chiefs past and finally get a glimpse of Halo and now it looks like next weeks episode will at least partially be about the most pointless character I have ever seen in a show. One of the biggest fears people had was them building a show around this Kwan character and while its not entirely around her they show her enough that not only nothing makes sense but with 3 episodes left wtf can they possibly do with her.

I will just never be able to understand why chief has his helmet off so much like what the fuck is the deal with that? You did it one episode, but now 90 percent of the time his helmet is off. They’ve also just turned him into a generic action movie character. Way too “human” rn. I just don’t like his personality at all in this.
