The drinol making it to 2 and being cut doesn’t surprise me. I never even heard of the bugger tanks before. Also kind of impressed the Earth Ark did get modeled and animated, makes me wonder if they may find some map data on the forerunner tank level

Forerunner Tank was basically a fever dream idea by Jason Jones. I don't think any serious work was done on it considering the only thing we know about it is some Bungie guys going "it would have been the most awesomeness thing in the history of awesome" and that's it lol Earth Ark on the other hand was how the entire game was gonna end and even if it was scrapped early they probably would make a test level of it.

@@genericwhitekidthesecond4330 Bungie has alway been, for lack of better words, jokingly hyperbolic on certain topics and I imagine Forerunner Tank is no exception. If I had to guess, realistically, the Forerunner Tank would've been just another "Giant Slow Moving Set Piece" that Halo 2 loved so much. With that said, we do know it was supposed to properly introduce the Gravemind. Hopefully someday will get something along with the cut Covenant Ship and Forerunner Dreadnought levels.

It was made for the schism because the hunters were going to join the elites so they needed a tank unit. So bugger tanks would’ve taken the role of hunters on the side of the covenant.

@@lotty. what’s wild is even with the cuts it still was a classic game, but if the true vision was fully realized it’d have been legendary and they’d wouldn’t have been a halo 3 also

@@redditor7548 Or, Microsoft could have gotten just as money hungry over the success and made Bungie do another game or two, since that's what happened to create ODST and Reach. I wonder if they'd have done those after the original 2, or did something else? Either way, after the incredible crunch and sprint that was Halo 2's development, being faced with the demand for another couple games might've just made a bunch of the team just quit.

@@redditor7548 i would have much rather had halo 2 uncut than halo 3, paced way better and in my opinion had a more interesting story that being said, halo 2 and halo 3 are still my favorite games of all time so that's gotta be a testament to old bungie lol

Oh man, if Ruby of Blue did an extended Ruby's Rebalanced Halo 2 where he and his team add the original planned Halo 2 ending, that'd be the sickest mod ever. They've already added back the Juggernaut and mongooses and expanded on more stuff, and it all just looks so great.

The mods that we are going to make with these are insane! The custom levels, and the fact that each day we come one step closer to resorting and completing the 3rd act of the halo 2 campaign. It is a good day to be a halo fan I will tell you that! First time seeing the drone tank! I feel like a kid at Christmas!

the Ark opening in-game, in real time instead of in a cutscene is just that much more impressive and cool to see, even if it takes just as much resources to pull off, technically speaking. the Drone Tank looks similar to an Enforcer when it flies

I really hope Ruby of Blue gets his hands on these before he finishes his mod. We didn’t get the newer dig site stuff in Halo CE Rebalanced and it was a big missed opportunity since I don’t see him going back until he does 2, 3, ODST, and Reach. The Drinol and Drone Tank are neat additions that can help bolster the enemy factions especially since a Halo 2 splits the Covenant in half near the end with Elites, Grunts and Hunters vs Brutes, Jackals, and Drones.
