For those nerds curious: "occlusion culling" is when the engine hides 3D geometry that is out of sight. This is important for optimization because without occlusion culling, map geometry and objects that the camera can't see are still processed by the renderer, taking up GPU cycles. Back in the days when I played Custom Edition and my PC was a potato, it drove me nuts when map makers wouldn't bother to learn how to place portals effectively because a custom map that was no more detailed than something that shipped with the game would run like garbage.

This is honestly a brilliant looking map that feels exactly like something that would fit in the classic Halo trilogy. The Forerunner architecture in particular is not only spot on, but a model for how it should be done

This is so nostalgic to me, I used to create maps for Halo Custom Edition such as [H3] Core and [H3] Imposing among many many others, I started all the way in 2007, I used to spends HOURS doing this... and seeing that not only it's still alive, but also that 343 even brought the tools back to the MCC brings a smile to my face

About the grass painting part... as someone who made tons of maps for Halo Custom Edition, in Sapien from Halo CE you can actually see small black lines where the grass would be (don't remember if you have to enable it or not), and there's a button in one of the windows that allows you to render the grass within Sapien, that way you don't have to compile the whole map and see it in-game, idk about Halo 2's Sapien but I doubt Bungie downgraded it from its Halo 1 counterpart, hope that helps!

wait a second, coming back to this video for a second time made me have an idea when inferno was talking about how the grav lifts work... please Inferno make the Launcher Hog, a Warthog entirely designed to be driven into any living thing and launch them further then the blunderbuss in cursed halo! Edit: I'd specify more but if I did it wouldn't be as fun and if Inferno saw this comment with no extra details and found the idea of it worth doing I'd prefer to see how he'd pull it off with no idea about its design or how it works past knowing somewhat of how it works

People were already modding demo builds of Halo Reach on PC, so its a safe bet that even if there isnt OFFICIAL mod support in MCC when it comes out, modding will still be doable.

I remember being in middle School, making Halo ce mods, My clan members loving it.. even when the Halo ce equivalent you showed at 16:30~ it felt wonderful.. That feeling you get when you can pay the the way you want and your server it's always full, even when you restart to apply new mods and people just keep playing on it forever... Killer video, dude. Halo CE and Halo 2 Vista had such great map making tools. I wish more recent AAA games had mod support. It's unfortunate that Epic stopped UT4 development because of Fortnite.
