@@clwhi4736 I actually really liked 4 and 5s soundtrack. Sure it wasn’t Marty, but Kazuma Jinnouchi (I doubt I spelled that correctly) really did a good job as a replacement. I don’t think he got treated very fairly by the halo community.

@@poultonboys3108 The music just didn't have the same nostalgic feel to it most of the times. I memorized all Halo 3 music for example and literally see the cutscenes in my mind when I happen to hear that particular soundtrack. I love Halo 4's 117 theme, the Didact theme and The Light is Green from Halo 5 though!

Knowing the composer, the mic picking up the mechanical sounds of the sax was probably intentional

The sound of the keys being pushed was 100% intentional. Martin O'Donnel is the kind of guy to do such a thing. What you hear as amateur hour is heard by the player part of the world building the piece does. You're a lone soldier in an African mega city being invaded by aliens. You were being sent on a suicide mission that had gone wrong, separated from your squad mates, and now alone in the city in the rainy night. You're only way to survive is to hug the walls and stay in the dark as you try to shed light on where your team is. Also it's Hay-Low not Ho-lee.

There were times I’d just purposely take my time with the missions just to hear the OST and almost every halo I usually leave the menu playing to hear the full ost. The menu music hasn’t disappointed me yet

Marty made halo music famous, but it was mike salvatori that made the best soundtracks what they were. He worked on odst and reach and continued to work on destiny 1 and 2, making the most amazing music in video games there is. The odst soundtrack pefectly captures the somber nature of being a disposable nobody in a dwindling army just hopelessly losing a war.
