Halo 3 ODSTs gives this solace, but light at the end (no pun intended) of the tunnel-like feeling, and while the Halo soundtrack in general is great, none of them make me feel quite what ODSTs soundtrack manages.
I really enjoyed how it felt like everything you did, had to be a calculated move. You were so vulnerable to attack, unlike a Spartan just being almost indestructible haha
Virgil: "HELLO, TRAVELER. MOMBASA WELCOMES YOU! ANXIOUS? STRESSED? PLEASE REMAIN CALM. CONTROL CIRCUITS NOW OPEN -- WITH PRIDE!" The best part of ODST was uncovering Sadie's story as you searched for your squad. It gave the game a sense of mystery sort of like CE. Only this time it's not about saving the galaxy and you're not a 7 ft tall cybernetic enhanced super soldier. You're just a boots on the ground hell jumper, trying the piece together what happened to a little girl and what she has to do with the superintendent.
That's what I loved about it so much too. The fact that it felt more real than other Halo games. You felt like you were in danger, like every move you made could go wrong. Unlike other Halos where you just run in and shoot 🤣
that and the parallels with dante's inferno continuously jumping back and forth where each level is a new lvl of hell and the ending with the superintendent being escaping hell.
