It’s mad thinking about the crew of the Pillar Of Autumn and how 99% of them perished in the battle of Installation 04. Imagine just crash landing on a foreign land with an entire Covenant fleet on your tail and still managing to give them hell. It’s crazy how much of a fight they gave the Covenant. They were the real heroes. RIP POA Crew.

My literal childhood right here. When this game dropped I was in the 5th grade and I begged dad for one until I got an Xbox and a copy of Halo CE for Christmas 2001. Few moments in my video game experiences since then have come even remotely close to the excitement I felt unwrapping possibly THE best FPS game ever made. Those were good times.

It took me and my best friend almost an entire weekend to beat halo on legendary. Never had we ever cussed each other out for the little things. But never have we ever cried tears of joy at beating that difficulty. This game and it’s soundtrack is a league of its own.

I remember when this came out. We were floored by the capabilities. The art design, the feel of the gameplay, online multiplayer.. it was so new & cool! But the MUSIC.... that unbelievable Marty O'Donnell music... it was ethereal. It had a unique & captivating feel about it from the jump. My friend noticed that the music changed depending on what you did in the game. It was dynamic! We scrambled to get the surroundsound working. The music wasnt a simple level soundtrack, but part of the experience! WHAT!? Halo made the Xbox feel like a quantum leap in gaming. Xbox owes its success to Halo and Marty had a huge role in the success of Halo. His music made us feel like we WERE the Master Chief!

I’ve always loved the part that starts at 1:05:30. I’m not sure why it is so beautiful to me - to be honest, it almost seems out of place - but I’ve always loved it.

This was my first gameplay when I was six years old back in 2006. My dad introduced me to this awesome game on his Xbox. Ever since then i've been hooked with video games. That's a way to introduce someone to video games. I miss the days when my sister,dad,and I used to play games together,and hangout. Now everyone in my family is off doing their own thing. God I miss being a kid. I miss the good old days. I HATE getting old.

I had a bit of an odd halo experience. By the time I was old enough to remember the story and understand what was happening, Reach was already released. I wasn’t able to play any Halos other than Reach and 3 until MCC came out. Lemme tell you, finally getting to see what happens between those two games was an experience like no other

God I remember watching my brother play Halo 2 when we were young, he got that game and an xbox from I think our father’s mother’s something or other and he let we play it with him and those are my first Halo memories. We played Halo 2 so much I would always ask him if we could play Halo on the weekends or whenever we didn’t have school. Then he bought a used copy I think, of Halo CE and he would always play the game through once by himself and then we’d play it together. I remember once we were playing slayer and I won like 5 times in a row and he was so surprised. I sucked at Halo the first times I played it but he gave me pointers and I got better. When Halo 3 came out we did the same thing. Reach too and ODST that was our bonding activity was playing the Halo games. Eventually I played by myself and I used to love Halo 2 compared to the other 2 but when I was playing CE alone I think that bumped up on my list. I finished Halo 2 and I still actually haven’t finished Halo 3 yet which is a shame cause I played the whole of Halo 4 before finishing 3 alone. Anyway listening to this and Halo 2’s soundtrack is nostalgic for me, brings back all those memories of my brother and I being kids and getting along and just having a great time :( I miss those days. He’s not dead but we don’t play Halo together anymore

Holy shit, the opening chords of the "Devils... Monsters..." music just made me have horrible flashbacks to escaping my very first Flood encounter on the Guilty Spark level after all the creepy buildup and barely anything to kill in the first half.

2002 I remember my wife had just left me and I was alone in the apartment wondering what I was going to do. My friend lent me his XBox. I had a copy of Rallisport Challenge, and a copy of this game everyone had been talking about for a couple years since the launch of XBox. It was called HALO. With life as I knew it falling apart, I thought HALO might take my mind off my problems. Pretty soon I was playing HALO and listening to these beautiful songs as the story unfolded. I was the Cheif. Cortana was there to help me. I think HALO helped me get through a tough time all alone better than any shrink could.

I keep coming back to this soundtrack and I love everything about it. Some friends judge me for being on my 30s and still listening to a "video game score" . They're equally obsessed by soundtracks of movies or dumb jingles. I don't judge them, Marty did a beautiful job to turn this game into an iconic formula.
