I really like Master Chief going so far to test Cortana's control over him. It's great that he's doing what he should be doing. John-117 is nobody's drone. Cortana will have to choose eventually and I do expect her to side with Chief by the end of season. Separating Halsey from Master Chief before Combat Evolved sets in in Season 2 is very much accurate lore wise. I do like they sorting out Master Chief and Halsey's conflict so quickly and doesn't drag it out indefinitely. In terms of Halo books, the Spartan II program did go public and the Spartan II made peace with their kidnapping long ago but I know that kind of stuff is hand waved in a video game medium because they are not the focus. But, this is television and you have to demonstrate convincingly that people won't just ignore the mass kidnapping of children and turning little kids into killing machines. That sort of thing cannot be ignored and must be talked about as a morality issue. Master Chief said it again to Kai "We're still Spartans" - this is important because it shows that John-117 understands his pivotal role in this war even though he's dealing with this horrible revelation himself and he's able to compartmentalize that trauma so quickly to focus on the real enemy.

@@OrionInSpace No, I just read the Halo wikipedia. You can learn a ton of things just by reading but I guess most haters just want to see shoot shoot shoot and everything else is not relevant or filler.

I think Makee is on her own journey. There's been foreshadowing of her trying to hold onto her humanity. Right now she's in-between and will most likely start to realize she doesn't want to be with the Covenant.. and that they're just using her.

It seems that way for sure, she comes off as maybe over time learning a lot about the covenant and their goals and now wants out. But at the same time she did kill people in episode 3 so maybe not.

@@OrionInSpace to be fair , she only tricks them while the other things do the work . They seem like flood larvae or some other weird non canon species. At the same time she is searching for the artifact and trying to extort the captain.

I might be wrong, but wasn't it said earlier in some episode that the spartan program wasn't even for the Covenants, it was to deal with the rebellious groups or something? Then came the Covenants and "Well, let's use the spartans for that".

@@3mrwright haha .. the Kwan story is so boring and irrelevant that the show can continue without showing her and it wouldn't make a difference. Nobody cares bout some flippin rebels.. People want to see the Halo ring, Covenant v Marines, Master Chief.. Cortana.. etc. Not Kwan 🙄

So I'll say this, why I think last weeks episode was better I still think this episode was solid. Giving us more development on what's going on with the artifact, Cortana, Halsey, the goals behind the UNSC and ONI, and now with that ending to the episode which gave me chills and made me happy. I think we are definitely getting somewhere with the story. Like dude let me say I am still very much anticipating the episode where we see Chief and Silver team Halo Jump no pun intended out of a pelican into what looks like could be another battle. I don't know what episode that will come in but I am looking forward to it.

Maybe the reason they don't call out Kai's behavior is because of the implants. The same reason they don't question orders in the first place. Means they don't question their team mates. They were all like Chief knows what he's doing when he went rogue. They never doubted him. Even though they should off because he went rogue.

It's so nice to see positive reactions for the show. I'm already bored of all of the negativity. Like damn, I know it means a LOT to a ton of people but when it comes down to it, it's entertainment. I've not played any of the video games or read any of the books, however I have done quite a bit of investigating regarding plots, characters and their pasts, etc (I'm one of those who would sometimes rather learn about it all than experience it firsthand in most cases). I loved this episode. The end interaction between John and Makee has me super intrigued and I can't wait until next Thursday. And honestly, I'm glad Kwan's story wasn't in this one. Soren is epic but she just rubs me the wroooong way.

Definitely wasn't expecting that ending. That last scene with Mackee's lip shaking had me laughing so hard. Are we gonna have to get the hose for these two?😂 I have know idea were this story is going & I'm here for it... except for the Kwan part. So glad she almost wasn't in this episode. Thanks for the reaction guys.

What I think will happen is that the transmission from the ship that had it's crew slaughtered will be cleared up, and then they'll match the voice to Makee, remember that Miranda recorded Makee speaking Sangheli. And if they want to go with the dramatic route, they can reveal it at a point where Chief is getting close/trusting Makee, and Makee is maybe deciding to stay on the human side.

It was so satisfying finally seeing the surface of the Halo, in my opinion it was one of the best parts of the episode, the other being the part when the master chief tests Cortana’s limits.

If Cortana's gonna be Chief's waifu, he has to know that he can trust her with his life. I respect Chief for doing that, even if he had to threaten to kill his abusive mother.

I really love this Series and so far it's doing so well. So i don't understand why it's rated so low. I guess these days people don't watch much anything other than that has Marvel logo in it or something based on Comics in it. Very sad.

It's not really even that, it's the hardcore game fans that love the games that I think have the game too much set in their mind and can't separate game from show/game storytelling from show storytelling.

Only the die-hard Halo fans don't like the series because something stupid like master chief taking his helmet off etc. I'm big time halo fan and I love the story. As this show is what I aspect TV show and gaming are two different things you can put everything in gaming relating on a tv show that doesn't work that way

I don't think Kai reactions came unnoticed, but maybe the right people who would know, have been occupied with chief. Miranda noticed it, and referred it as a possible glitch. Vanic blamed it at the gun oil in her hair😂 only chief knew something was up because he grew up with her and he only knew about the pellets because of Soren. The Spartans are told it was for combat efficiency, they don't know what feelings feel like or have any memory of it. There was a scene where chief couldn't taste, what other senses did they suppress. I do feel a lot of this little moments do get over looked. Kai and chief both took out their pellets with different mindsets, chief knew what they were and what they suppressed, Kai didn't, she didn't know what to expect. Now Kai, after the battle, experienced shock, Maybe pain, and also had memories. Now she's catching up with chief, asking the serious questions. I been enjoying this series, very entertaining and treating it as it own thing, giving it a chance. Excited to see what feedback the hear when making season 2. Great video guys, great discussion 👍

Makee, or in french "Maquis" (said roughly the same way) were french resistance fighters. The book she holds onto in a lot of those shots is a real book. I cant recall the story specifically but its about escaping from your captors.

I like how much respect Chief is getting from all the marines wherever he goes. I know these same marines were ordered to aim their guns at him but you can tell all of them have the greatest respect for Master Chief.

i like the show...not what i thought it's gonna be but it's entertaining...moments like seeing the Halo ring ..cool fight scenes... accurate stuff like space ships..and the master chief that's what's keeps me going.. and i have a little problem with the pace of the show.. it's a little to slow i think..so they better go for at least 4 seasons

Oh, I remember the Farscape days. Still some of the best television I've ever watched to this day and very creative for its time with the CGI, costumes and make up. I would've loved to see what a show like that could've achieved, if it had kept going up to this day and age.

You guys were talking about the baby thing, but keep in mind Halsey didn’t develop the Spartans because of the Covenant. They were developed to knock insurrectionist ( like Kwan’s people) into submission. The Covenant just came along and a negative became a positive.

Oh my god! You guys are not Halo fans if you think that "there's not a heck a lot of a story". That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard about Halo. The world building, the lore of Halo is as dense and detailed as the books from Tolkien and Martin. Go look it up yourself, but watch your mouth before say some dumb shit like that. From the Precursors, to the Forerunners to the present (Halo time), the world is full of history and stories and legends. So don't sit there, acting like you are some kind of fans of Halo. Halo, without any doubt has the best sci-fi story ever. Even better than Star Wars and definitely better than the Expanse.

I get that Kai is sort of over-emoting but as far as her fellow Spartans not reacting to the change, I think it's part of the programming because they are not meant to be reacting, so it would kind of go over their heads, either that or they just wouldn't care as much because they are programmed not to. On the other hand, I know that Jaby said that in that one scene, she was just trying to share with them what she's been going through, but I took it as that, the other Spartans are noticing the change, which is why in the last episode there was that comment about the oil seeping into her brain, and in this episode, they started a meeting without her, which looks to me like, the rest of the team are starting to isolate her and John, I mean they still have a bit more faith in the latter cause he's the Master Chief but, I think they notice the change, they are just not as emotive about it, but in that last scene with her and the others, I just feel like it seemed as if she was just trying to reach out to them but she was being excluded. Don't know. I could be wrong.

I was a HALO geek. I still am at age 62! When something is good it has no age limit. Now I am on the design team making this series. Combat evolved is the theme that we will follow from now on. Season 2 will be an action fest of insanity. Everything after that will be intense! We want to impress the world and the gamers. This first season was a test idea. We heard you load and clear. You want pure Halo ideas. We will go that way from here on.

GetJaby you basically laid out Halsey's pov exactly. In main canon her mentor authored a theory called "The Carver Findings" that found humanity was destined to become unstable with colonization in the next decades causing billions of deaths in an unending civil war. Her solution to preserve humanity through this destructive period was the Spartan II program who could be used to decapitate rebel leaderships.

I can see how the Spartans who didn't have their pallet taken out could just be less perceptive of Kai taking out her pallet because they haven't taken theirs out yet. And the scene from the recent episode between Vannak and Kai kind of shows that they aren't very inquisitive with the pallet still in because Vannak didn't care about thinking about Kai's questions.

I am not here for maccies hooking up with master cheeks lmao I hope they don't hook up man 😂 If they want a covenant defect team up with chief you go with arbiter and chief man it's a no brainer and it's more interesting cos you have an elite learning the truth about his covenant being founded on lies and manipulation etc... Who knows, that might still happen as chief and arby don't cross paths till after the fall of reach and destruction of the first halo ring but we shall see :) quite enjoyed this episode tho
