Garish is to Halo CE what ZFG was to Ocarina of Time's 100% category. Simply untouchable, always ahead of the field by a massive margin. Truly one of the greatest speedrunners of his game. Way to go Garish!!
Hard agree, I love how hard the top runners push themselves, other runners, and the game itself. I have so much respect for people who commit to something they enjoy so much simply for wanting to see how far they can go.
I like that he doesn't have a perfect down to the second run every time and that he doesn't rage if he makes a small mistake. It makes it more interesting to see that you don't have to be a machine to do this. It actually makes Garish look more skillful, because it's not just memorization but actually an ability to modify his approach in response to changing battlefield situations. And it makes for better viewing, since it's not the case that "if you've seen one run you've seen them all"
I think for those of us who watch just the highlights and records, its easy to forget why ‘safe’ and back up strats exist as well as how much mental state factors into it. There’s a reason why a good amount of speedrunnders have heartbeat monitors on stream.

Garish has done the last 46 records and improvements to Full Legendary runs of CE, and held the record since April 2015 when Scurty lost it....and yet he STILL continues to set records over 30 seconds faster! He also was the first to prove that Legendary could be done faster then Chronos old run on Easy, and hes now done it faster by 131 seconds faster on Legendary than that particular old record from chronos. Hes only 40 secs behind the fastest ever CE run on Easy now too Crazy thing is....a sub 58 minute run is easily possible if you took the beat times ever set on each level on Legendary(by anyone, not just garish) and didnt mess up 1 time. So there is still room if someone was anywhere near as good altogether as Garish
@@horrificpleasantry9474 his personal best do...but he doesnt have the record any per level basis Cambid beats him on Leg POA by 25 secs alone. Thats why i said if you took the beat times ever set on each level on Legendary and didnt mess up 1 time
@@man9005 Yeah but that's also with many rng opportunities that have to be perfect. The odds of getting a run where sub 1 hour is even possible are incredibly slim. And no I don't want to calculate that lol
@@samcooke343 on this one I noticed he had added a glitch through the map on level 1 which he didn't have before, the rest seemed very similar to what I remembered -- oh, and he got the second grenade jump on cartographer this time
@@horrificpleasantry9474 he also did a new strat on TB which saved quite a bit of time. Between the new POA skip and TB strat he could've gotten a low 1:05, which he almost did until he died on the warthog run

Loved that he explained what he was doing with the ships at 5:59 onwards, it's this kind of stuff that makes me love speedrunning. The amount of skill required to get a world record speedrun is insane, but the main interest for me comes from learning how the game works and why speedrunners do everything that they're doing. I'd have no idea you skipped a ship if you didn't mention it.
I’ve never done a speedrun and never played CE on legendary but I struggled on hard a few years back so this is wild to me. I learned a lot from this video!

Good one and unexpected. It's the second time i've seen you explain the run and then getting a good time. Just curious why sometimes you get negative.. i've noticed everytime you're doing good and a negative comment comes then something happens after you mention it.
