I just realized something while watching this review. This show feels like the writers wanted to make a Mass Effect show instead of a Halo one. This feels way more like Mass Effect than it does Halo. Including the hot model hero being more a Commander Shepard thing than Master Chief's, as well as naked scenes being more in line with Mass Effect.

i hate how here they call him Demon from the very first episode of S1, its just so unearned. In the games the Covenant starts to call him like after he destroys the "Sacred Ring", they just dont get Halo or dont care, not even the basic stuff.

@@truthfulpurpose they probably read the story from wikipedia or something, either that or the actually played/watched the games story and decided to to their "take" on it, which can be fine for a adaptation, as long as its faithful enough, but here its not. The series is a action-soap, with below average writing, not even the genre itself fits Halo, its so unrecognizable.
One of my favorite parts from the book Halo The Flood is when Chief is just getting dogged by Commander Silva and Chief doesn’t say a word. Then Silva at the end says’ “Do you understand?” and Chief just says “Sir, no sir.” Such a badass moment. Too bad I can’t say the same for emo cheeks.
I place a large portion of this shows failure on Kiki Wolfkill. Shes still allowed to damage the Halo IP and its disgusting. Kwan is her character insert and until shes fired from the show we are stuck with that awful character.

@@CoyoteKnight Yeah, it's far too late to fix things by firing high level people who were bad for the franchise. The cancer has metastisized too much to remove. Gotta shutter 343, shuffle some good people around to other studios maybe and fire known bad influences. In 5 years minimum we can think about putting together another team, but I'm not sure building a team like was done with 343 was a good idea. Maybe find a studio that's been good in the genre or could be, contract them if they're external, and have them do pre production brainstorming, concepts, demos for 5 years. Then maybe we can start making another Halo game refocused on the original roots of halo lore and forget what happened after the events of Halo 3 as a fever dream. Try Harvest, or even a Covenant game if there's interesting story and gameplay to be had.
Halo CE had the single best cinematic out of all the other games, CE wasn't the best for cinematics, but Jenkins helmet recording was by far the best single cutscene out of all the games.
As a sonic fan who likes the movies, i think they can do a lot better. Im hoping they nail the third movie later this year. As for Halo I hope someone does right by the fans some day.

Yeah that's fair. Again I enjoyed the movies but in retrospect there are things that bother me and I want to be better. My biggest issue was eggman. No shade on Jim Carrey but he was not a good eggman at all. But I respect the filmmakers for listening to the backlash and fixing the problems (mainly the design in movie one and adding more game stuff in the sequel). Personally I think that Sonic should have an animated movie, that better suits the series and storytelling. Plus any true Sonic fan knows that Sonic has some awesome animation in the form of cutscenes in the games. I mean imagine a full movie animated like the opening for sonic unleashed, sonic 06 or the sonic riders anime intro. It would be amazing. Still Im hoping movie three is good.

The truth is IMHO more about the value of an actor. Without a face to put to a good performance means less actor market value. Ironically despite a lot of face the result is the opposite. 😅

Halo is such an easy story to do. Ship chased by aliens. Ship lands on strange stellar object/space station. Monsters attack humans and aliens. Human supersoldier destroys stellar object. You could cut parts of Star Wars, Prometheus, and other movies and stitch them together into a monstrosity and it would be more Halo then this trash.
The Elites in this show behave more like the Outriders from Infinity War. They seem kind of mindless and not like warriors that use tactics against their enemy…..then again none of the characters actually behave the way we remember them so at least it’s consistent in that respect

Things i wanted to see in tv show: Sarge, captain keys, low poly cortana, original chief voice, pillar of autumn, flood, thel vadam and shipmaster, lord hood, marines with iron plates, Spec ops elites, noble six, emile, original voices of marines and grunts from halo 1.

Akerson is also close to the same as the actual cannon. Akerson is responsible for the Spartan III'S. He tried to have Chief and Cortana killed in the main cannon. This RU-vidr doesn't really know the extended lore. I guess this guy doesn't know the Spartans were created to fight Insurrectionists. The UNSC was actually viewed as the bad guys by the outer colonies prior to the Human-Covenant War. So the opening scene makes perfect sense if you have read the books. Yes, they changed some major plot points. No, I don't agree with them all. But, the show still has many things taken from the books and lore. My God what a depressing video.
@@johnwstruhar The problem ain't "muh lore"; the problem is abject incompetence on the part of the writers. The show doesn't make sense on its own terms. The characters are unlikable idiots, the UNSC does not operate according to any kind of sensible military protocols, and nearly every decision anyone makes is foolish. The show purports to be military sci-fi, but is in fact a shoddy soap opera, occasionally interrupted by some VFX that might amount to a passably interesting 10-minute supercut. It is unfocused, and it utterly fails to establish believable stakes. Adding an approximation of Col. Ackerson cannot paper over the fractal garbage they have foisted on us. Adding more connections to Halo lore in future cannot possibly save it. Only better writing can do that. It's unfortunate that Halo must remain in the category of ruined stories, but pretending there's merit in this show will only invite further butchery. Enough is enough.

the worst part about this show is that 90% of the work is alredy done. They just had to retake the massive lore and games and put it in episodes, yet they manged to work more, and fucking fail more , thats insane !
There's only 2 praiseworthy things about this show and that's the production values and the action scenes. The costumes, sets, props and CGI (especially for the Covenant) are all excellent. The fight choreography and action scenes capture the "combat evolved" and show the deadliness of the Spartans, but also how scary the Covenant are to most humans. Unfortunately, the plot is laughably bad and the characterization is a joke. The show creators stole a much from the source material, but what they're making isn't Halo, which is a real shame.
Literally all this show needs to do is focus on the marines and the camaraderie they share and the show would be fine. There was only a single scene of that in S1 with Kai and it’s the best part of the show so far
Since this video is a bit of a rant it was gonna get things wrong but i Should point out at the stupid family dinner the KD was a reference to the shows in universe Videogame not to chiefs personal record as its only later they notice he is a spartan.
Soren was a spartan II washout in both timelines, so he's not as strong as a spartan should be in the silver timeline. In the regular timeline he's actually crippled by the augmentations not working properly. His muscles grow so large they rip themselves apart and one of his arms is described as being basically a giant club. He's constantly put on incredibly strong painkillers but he stops taking them eventually because he thinks they cloud his mind iirc. His disfigurement actually makes him the strongest spartan II out of all of them, and by extension probably the strongest spartan ever. He desperately wants to be put in combat but he's too disfigured to wear mjolnir and he'd be a liability because the other spartans would feel obligated to protect him. He's instead made into a desk jockey and eventually gets convinced by a coworker to join the insurrection, he tries to escape in a long sword (i think) and is shot down and crash lands on a planet, his body wasn't found at the crash site and he's listed as MIA. Some more background on him, unique among the spartan II's, soren wasn't abducted and replaced. His family lived on a rural planet and his mother died of some disease, his father went mad and soren ends up stabbing him and running away to live in the forest, his dad eventually dies of the same sickness his mom died from iirc. Being orphaned, Halsey lets him choose if he wants to join this special program of hers, promising him he'll become strong. This makes his later disfigurement much more tragic. (This just a real brief summary of his character from the main timeline, theres a LOT of details i left out/forgot.) Also he's blonde with blue eyes in the regular timeline. So a much better character all around imo and it would be very interesting to see his story play out on screen.
Glad I watched this video. I was almost thinking of giving it a second chance. Between this and the interview where Steven Kane said they only talked about characters and didn't look at the games, it definitely seems like a total waste.
I recall as a kid wanting a halo show…..man thank fuck I outgrew shit like this and Star Wars otherwise this shit would be heartbreaking to see, now I’m just….apathetic….apathy is death.
If Star Wars had been a mega galactic video game series, the diehard fans would also have been apoplectic bc some characters or scenarios were changed or removed from the film storyline. The same goes for Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and the 1st Dune film - which were all based on hugely popular, world-building, epic books. True the TV series, is not 100% canon to everything in the 20+ yr old game franchise, but as stated above -- it's certainly not unprecedented. I think the Halo series, cast, and show runners have successfully brought to life these iconic characters and storylines and introduced them to a new and "larger" audience. As for the outcry about the TV series showing MC cheeks…well the body design of Cortana in Halo 4 was pretty R-rated IMO. So yea I’m very ok w/ the Pablo's MC cheeks -- I know they ain't CGI. 🤩

A show about Carter and Noble Team would actually be awesome, I think. You could have your helmetless protagonists, an automatic full cast, and lots of new turf to work with for a set of existing characters. But nope, gotta get that triggering marketing clout. You'd think that if there is to be a show about Chief himself, why not take the opportunity to patch up the timeline around Halo 4 and Halo 5, potentially redeeming their stories. But nahhhhh
Humanity is doomed in this timeline as the UNSC is the worst military ever, badly run ill disciplined and weirdly happy to let their super special soldiers wander around with civilians even after beating up a couple of Marines. Also I'm still not sure why they are happy with a team of super soldiers suddenly appear to have had a personality switch and are all emotional now.
