Actually they are pretty damn smart if they grow up to actually learn. Elites used to have the youngest of the grunts sit next to a human radio and listen and within a week they learned to understand english. give them a month and they’ll understand code but they are instead sent as cannon fodder as soon as they can walk. Essentially grunts are toddler soldiers.

Yeah sounds like the Covenant/Banished may purposefully be keeping the amount of methane flowing into them at a low point so that they remain stupid. Like not enough oxygen flowing to our brains. That grunt had a little more methane and suddenly was a philosopher.

@@azure4622 the grunts seem to be the smartest alien in not just the covenant but the entire milky way the reason they're so dumb is because they're literal children but they breath meth and if it's too high they'll get high that's why the other grunt asked him if it was too high
Well since the Phoenix is classifide as "lost with all hands" those Marines are most likely report as "KIA" So no. If they have surviving family members they would have recibe the money as compensation.
@@riftvallance2087 That's assuming they have a Spartan in their squad. ODSTs are given more dangerous missions since they're better trained than Marines, but ultimately the point I'm trying to make is that some ODSTs were selected to become Spartans.
Maybe the reason the grunts were so foolish is because the covenant and banished kept their setting low and they were prevented from education and intellectual prowess.

Grunts haven’t they changed their voice over the years? Hmm I remember that they do use some guys voice in 343 but that does make sense as his voice changes so does the grunts no wonder their voices are kinda high now.
Exactly what I did in Halo 1-3 and Reach,tried to save every one of them. The ones in Halo 4,when they existed in a mission for a second,just were a mild annoyance I practically avoided. I dont even recall them existing at all in halo 5.

Actually, the humans left an AI in the Ark to study everything in the records of it, even the book Halo Mythos is all about the AI narraiting the story of all the Halo most relevant lore. So maybe, when the Banished got the control over the Ark they found the AI and it told them everything... Or it's just a joke...

@@forky1686 Marines in Halo tend to be pretty stupid sometimes, i remember giving on a rocket launcher and like 30 seconds into a fight another marine ran in front of the barrel as he was firing a rocket and blew everyone up

Yea. I don’t know why, but a lot of cartoon shows and games make everything have to make sense. Honestly, it’s the random stuff that’s the funniest, where everything else is up to the player to imagine
I know this is a late reply but I can relate. The Suicide Grunt said quote is saying he partake into the War, but was not called up at all to fight. Even if he did, I'd assume he came in with the rest of the unit in a "Clean-up" Duty.
@@thefiresworddragon927 More than simply being scottish, often times I imagine its the same people who are contracted as voice actors for game as this, but you can certainly tell they are indeed the same person by the way they speak.

Not only that, but a well fed and cared for Grunt can grow to be about 7 feet tall and have a carapace so strong Elite's tire themselves out kicking them. Then again Colt might just be a freak of nature like Atriox was for the Brute's and Xytan was for the Elite's
