I mean yes UNSC is "viable" but it is undeniably underpowered compared to banished. During earlygame, a banished player can easily bully ANY UNSC player off of their own resources, they get 50% more starter units than UNSC and marines cost 150 supply despite not being 50% better than grunts. Marauders are only a bit costlier than hogs and have far more utility in combat despite their lower speed. Banished heroes are, for whatever reason, all extremely powerful with the exception of Voridus(unless you include cataclysm, where you can send him, an engi and two wraiths to kill a base while you main army kills another using cat). I mean the arbiter hero is as tanky as a hunter captain but can run faster than a freaking jack rabbit allowing him to kill a gen while being mained down by the army. This self healing nonsense is exclusively banished and is insanely broken. Why does Yapyap's heroes get three super fast heals than can't be canceled and have invuln while Johnson's hero has a heal that can be targeted and destroyed even though it's much worse than the goblin heals? Even strong UNSC heroes like the forge hog and Jerome were nerfed like hell and are weak to choppers even in tech two. The tanky UNSC hero the bison is also weak to choppers, cheap crap you can spam like hell and choppers are only a bit pricier than rabbits. Why were the few UNSC leaders who could win against banished nerfed like Anders, Forge and Jerome(he used to be SOOO strong)? I suspect it's to engender an underdog mentality in the UNSC since that's what the story paints out. I beat banished guys with UNSC but when I do they are markedly worse at the game than me, they forget to pop engi bubbles(how tf are you supposed to win an engagement with an army that takes 40% less damage for free while you get fart gas?), they forget to make shield towers and forget they can bully me with choppers. When I do fight a decent banished I need to focus to win but if they are really good and they get to tech three with cloaking gens it's normally over. On the other hand if I play banished I can fight and beat a guy who is clearly better than me especially if they are UNSC. They play hit and run really well, their splits are pro tier, they combo leader powers very well and their macro is really good but they still lose to me because I have shield gens, stronger counter units, better heroes and way better leader points. You can win as UNSC, but it's always an uphill battle when it shouldn't be.
