Fun fact, the Spirit of Fire was a former civilian colony ship that was retrofitted into a warship. As a Phoenix Class she plays more of a support role than a typical frontline warship but has MASSIVE foundries and factories inside the ship to manufacture whatever she needs, be it replacement hull plating, weapons, vehicles or even prefabricated bases that can be airlifted directly from the ship to a combat zone.

The ace of spades card actually links back to his daughter who has her own book trilogy, also the characters, as you can guess, actually get development in the gameplay, that's why they seem generic/bland

23:16 if you’re referring to the Spartans in that shot, it’s probably because of their Mark IV armor as they are a bit bulkier compared to Mark V that Chief wears in CE

The framerate was much better in the game from what I remember, might be a recording issue.

One of my favorite things about Halo Wars is the music. The piano at the start, beautiful!

So, the reason Sgt Forge was able to tackle then later take a gut punch from Rippa is because of his exceptional strength and durability, which he inherited from his father who, like Sgt Johnson, was a Spartan 1, making Forge what's known as a spartan 1.1. That's also why he seems taller and bulkier than the average Marine.

Probably should have watched the in game cutscenes as well.

10 year old me constantly played Halo Wars, it was the one strategy game that I regularly played.

23:10 a little attention to details, Spartan 2s eye sight were enhanced to such a degree that they could see perfectly in darkness. Noticed how two of the three Spartan's looked at the camera's direction as they thought they saw slight movement coming from that direction. This is foreshadowing their encounter with the Arbiter who was cloaked, the reason they ignored their suspicion was due to the mission at hand.

Halo wars 2 is magnificent with the cutscenes.

I love how they show the scale of the Spirit of Fire. It's a damn big ship. One of the larger in the UNSC.

19:11 and the final battle cutscene are my favorite cutscenes of the game 19:11 mainly because it actually puts into scale just how *big* these ships are when put into perspective.

To give a bit of back story on the Ace in Forges sleeve: Before he left on board the Spirit of Fire, Forge played a card game with his daughter Lucy (or Rion) as he was leaving she gave him the Ace of Spades as a sign of good luck. Later on as an adult she owns her own salvaging ship which she named “Ace of Spades” in memory of Forge and is currently searching for the location of the Spirit of Fire, as they still are unaware of its true location. Currently she found the Roman Blue, which was a ship that was completely destroyed in the Battle of Chi Rho and referenced that the Spirit of Fire had placed a log buoy for them to pick up but that the Radiant Perception took after they defeated the Roman Blue in battle during the Battle of Arcadia as well. Currently they know where the Radiant Perception ship is but due to an infestation of Hunters it’s been left completely undisturbed, meaning that at least until the Spirit of Fire was just jumped to the ark the UNSC had about 20+ years where they could have easily found them but instead chose not to. There is a lot more they found and did but I’d be here all day in that case😅

You should react to Halo legends, a Halo anime, chapters like prototype will blow your mind and the best part is taht all of the capters are canon in the Halo lore, except of the dragon ball style one and origins part 2 Lol. Oh and happy birthday btw :)

Just play through the game on easy difficulty for the hell of it.

One tiny detail I love is the bit where the arbiter is talking to the high prophet and has he pulls out his swords, the honour guards flinch slightly in the background.

27:00 tbf the classic slingshot maneuver works wonders in Kerbal Space Program like sorry I don't have the rocket fuel to b-line towards the moon but I do got a planet to circle back around like a conveyor belt hahaha

This game… this game seriously has one of the best themes from a Halo game. The emotional piano building up to the rest of the orchestra is so fitting and nostalgic to the Halo franchise and this game.

Just to clarify something... forge is a little bit cheessy in the cinematic, I personnaly like him very much in the gameplay side of the game... ...and why he can beat a Elite ? he is one of the first spartan 1, like Johnson... the Orion Project. Orion project was the code name of the first itteration. Really not the same then the spartan 2 project, but enough to give him more chance to beat anyone in combat.

Halo 5's flashy intro to Osiris is great, but I still think that short highlight of Red Team is still the best Spartan action scene!

Chief was actual trained before the war, he was in his mid to late teens when the war began, because of cryo he isnt an old man yet, he was there at one of the first confirmed covenant contacts

The Chief and the other Spartan IIs have been active for around 6 years by the time these games take place

I like how the Arbiter is like, "Like the rest of your race, weak and undisciplined" and then the next scene is just 3 Spartans absolutely kicking in the rest of the Elite's shit.

No idea why you didn’t like these cutscenes that much, it’s one of my favorites. Also, using gravitational assists such as slingshotting around planets with dense gravity fields are what we do today, almost all of our space probes and spacecrafts that are in deep space have used the slingshotting method to travel faster and further. I have more gripes about your reaction to these cutscenes than you’re inaccurate gripes about the cutscenes themselves lol. Also gotta understand this was made sometime back, so we should be a little more lenient and not beat dead horse(s)

I like to compare Forge to Cayde-6 from Destiny. He's a hotshot cool guy whose mouth always seems to be faster than his brain, but he's a cool guy anyway.

God the dialogue in Halo Wars 2 is miles beyond this.

Seargent Forge is actually a spartan 1 like Seargent Johnson. They were both in the Orion 1 project.

Halo wars 2 has one of my favourite cutscenes of all time there is a speech during those cutscenes that is S tier.

Ya did yourself a disservice by just watching only the cutscenes instead of the game movie, you missed like 2/3's of the characterization & story watching this version. And Forge is a good character, sadly part of his characterization is in pre-Halo Wars material too so you need to look up his Halopedia wiki page to find out.

Hw2 has way better dialogue and some pretty damn good cutscene. And yes, more badass Spartans. It will also give you some insight as to what might entail in the infinite campaign.

23:00 dude they increased the chest plate size due to the first encounter in Halo Fall of Reach as Samuel 034 chest piece was easily pierced by a plasma bolt that prevented him from escaping into space since his armor was breached.

Halo Wars has its moments, but it really feels like a kid's TV show The little music stings announcing scene changes don't help either (like 24:53)

side note: chief was active during this time the Spartans in this game (Spartan-IIs) are the same class as chief and were trained at the same time. cryo sleep and the fact that the spartans are actually very young at this point. the Spartan-IIs are kidnapped children who were trained to fight for the UNSC and then injected with every steroid and drug they could find.

I don’t know if you still look at these comments, but fun fact about the three Spartans on the Spirit of Fire, all three of them failed their Spartan augmentation, that augmentation killed half of the kids that were drafted for the Spartan two program, these three Spartans were so dedicated to humanity that they went through the augmentation a second time and luckily it took the second time

the UNSC Spirit of fire is Phoenix class colony ship refitted to be a support carrier.....she is 2.5 KM long half that of the the Infinity and at the time was the one of the largest ships in the fleet

Spirit of Fire was not originally a military vessel, it was designed with colonizing new worlds in mind and during the outbreak of the Human Covenant war many civilian vessels such as these were retro fitted for combat. The Pillar of Autumn is also a vessel that was refurbished for war, Halcyon class cruisers such as this were expensive and unnecessary prior to the war due to their honeycomb structure with the war making ships such as these invaluable. The Pillar of Autumn even gave rise to its own class called the Autumn class cruiser which is seen as part of the UNSC Infinity's escort fleet. Also here's a bit of info on the Spartans seen in Wars, Mjolnir armor didn't actually have energy shielding until much later once ONI had finally reversed engineered alien technology. So spartan armor was still extremely vulnerable to energy weapons as energy shielding wasn't tested until 2544 with Master Chief as the first subject.

2531, is when the first batch of Spartan-III start training at the age of 6-7. Master Chief has already been deployed around this time around, since he was a part of the Spartan-II batch. Chief would be around 14, so just through with augmention and on his first mission if my calculations are correct

So master chief is a Spartan 2 they where recruited before the human-covenant war to put down human rebellion, so red team and chiefs team “blue team” trained together before the war. fun fact Captain Cutter and fleet admiral hood where classmates and friends and actual at the time of Arcadia then Captain Hood was there and had a choice engage the fleeing covenant or pick up spirit of fires beacon and due to his rage he choose to engage the covenant thus losing track of spirit of fire and in the comics after the human-covenant war and after the events of halo 4 fleet admiral hood, the Arbiter, and one of the last high ranking brute chieftains where at a summit to discuss a truce and came under attack during the meeting by human insurgents one of which was captain cutters son

Fun fact, the Mjolnir Mark IV Armor System didn't have energy shielding like the Mark V.
