In Halo 2 during the fall of High Charity you can hear Cortana say “I'll do what I can to slow the launch sequence. But there's something inside the ship, a presence that's fighting back. For a Covenant construct it's unusually formidable.” That’s her fighting Medicant Bias himself. Pretty cool! Oh also within High Charity’s soundtrack if you play it backwards and can hear Medicant Bias speaking.

Learning about the forerunners and their backstory really makes me love how diverse and broad the Halo lore really is.

Calling the keyship the covenants equivalent of the eiffel tower is probably my favourite new thing about the halo universe

When you mentioned that the didact was the bad guy in halo 4 after hearing that he helped create mendicant bias, he didn't make mendicant bias while "evil". The most supported theory is that didact was put into the sphere (I forgot what its called) by his wife, the librarian, because he was infected by the logic plague and the sphere was intended to cure him. However that didn't work and you can see the results in the game.

There's a video on RU-vid where a guy reads all of and gives book reports in the halo franchise its a great way to get caught up on the overall extra halo lore.

While a lot of the lore was written after Halo 3, Mendicant Bias is mentioned indirectly in Halo 2, and the core of his, The Didact, and The Librarian's story is in Halo 3's terminals. It's also important to realize that a lot of lore around the Spartans and Humanity's conflict with the Covenant were detailed in books while Halo 1-3 were being made, but Bungie didn't like being constrained by them, so they tended to ignore the books' lore entirely, which is why it all SEEMS like it was written after Halo 3. As far as 343i putting more lore into the games proper, they've really tried their best (and missed the mark in a lot of cases), but the average fan doesn't like getting so much lore info dumped on them, and there is SO MUCH context missing from the games that it's really hard to sink the average player into it naturally. That said, the Halo in Infinite, Installation 07/Zeta Halo, is the Halo that Mendicant Bias once had control of. Wrapping your head around this is difficult, for sure, as you're getting the cliffsnotes of several books' worth of information. Mendicant Bias' story is probably my favorite in all of Halo.

Fun fact, if you listen to Cortana carefully in the background of high charity in halo 2, she says there is an AI fighting her, which is surprisingly advanced. That’s mendicant bias

U need to see the precursor's story as well if u wanna know more about their lore... Especially the primordial guy. U will know what the mantle of responsibility actually means.

What I think is even crazier is some of this lore was planned and even written for the Original Halo CE game. Makes you wonder how much they planned out with the launch of the first game.

You've entered the high grass of halo lore, and I couldn't be happier for you. I just want to offer *Hunt The Truth* audio play, which is a prequel to H5 and is the best representation of ONI imo. The books 📚 add a lot to the experience & world building with the universe. But there's at least 20 books, so it'll take a minute, lol. #crackon

The best thing in all of this lore is that history repeat itself again if the puzzles will come together properly, where Offensive bias tried to stop Mendicant bias now Weapon will do the same against Cortana, this going to be epic.

It is also implied that the Spirit of Fire arrived at the ark in Halo Wars 2 because of mendicant bias. Another theory is that the desert pat of the Halo 5 trailer with poncho chief is him walking an talking to mendicant bias

The Forerunner trilogy explains the fall of the Forerunners and the Didact, through the eyes of a human. But the 2nd and 3rd book get pretty confusing. I don't know if your ready for them yet. It's like the Silmarillion for Halo. It gives some jaw dropping information, but you might need a chart to help you understand it.

Medicant Biaas was first encountered back in Halo 2 on High charity. So he was not put in to the story as an after thought. He was always there

The precursors were the ancient aliens that created everything but the forerunners betrayed them and the remaining precursors turned to dust and was corrupted. They became the flood. The final precursor was the first gravemind which are like the hive mind of the flood.

Really liking this Halo content. Been playing Infinite multiplayer/ranked but I feel like these videos are helping me “catch up” for Infinite since I never played Halo Wars 2 or Halo 5 Keep it up 👍

The Forerunner Trilogy is the best source for both the Primordial and Zeta Halo. I'm with you on digesting all this extended lore for Halo, it's a lot to take in but it's very interesting stuff. Another of HiddenXperia's videos to check out, if you haven't already, is the history of Zeta Halo

Firstly, spoilers for the forerunner saga of books. Ok so you know the Forerunners and how they're this ancient technologically superior alien race, The Precursors were a stage above them, they were pacifists and the ones to initially seed the galaxy with life. Their tech was all created via neural physics, so thoughts rather than material compounds, hence why you won't find any artifacts in any games or anything. They had this role called "the mantle of responsibility", essentially being the race responsible for seeding and developing life. The Precursors initially picked the forerunners, the most promising of their creations to take up the mantle after the precursors were gone but later were deemed unworthy of the Mantle and instead the role was given to the Humans of Old. This Enraged the Forerunners, who promptly declared war and systematically exterminated the precursors, leading to their near extinction. The remaining precursors went into a suspended animation by turning themselves into a molecular space dust that will regenerate into their former selves at some point in the future. Over the millions of years, the dust degraded and became defective, no longer regenerating themselves, rather inducing mutations and madness to anyone who came into contact with it. After ancient Humans discovered the dust and experimented with it, it eventually led to the first Flood outbreak. The Primordial was one of the precursors who just used a stasis chamber to hibernate instead of being fancy and turning yourself into a powder. He was later found by some humans and proceeded to explain the flood's origins. He viewed the flood as a means to bring unity to the galaxy, vowing that none of their creations will rise against them again and that stripping all life of free will and merged into a single race would bring peace and unity to the galaxy. His body was destroyed but he transferred his consciousness into flood hive mind, Who now calls itself the Gravemind.

so you said it would be amazing if cortana was somehow connected to mendicant or if he created her - well you might like then that cortana's creation was influenced by the Forerunners - by the Librarian specifically. "I hid seeds from the didact. Your physical evolution, your combat skin, even your ancilla Cortana"

I just realized something while watching the video it took 43 years to turn mendicant bias to the flood and it took 43 days for cortana to be turned

Primordial TL;DR The Primordial (Also known as the Captive or the Timeless One) is a hybrid of a Flood Gravemind and a member of a God species known as the Precursors, who brought life to the galaxy. After being killed on Zeta Halo by the Iso-Didact and 343 Guilty Spark, it transfered it's consciousness into the Flood Hivemind. All Graveminds going forward are him, essentially making him the main Villain of Halo until all the Flood have been killed.

You saw the story of Mendicant Bias from rise to fall and eventually hopeful atonement. Now go and watch the story of Offensive Bias it is just as amazing. Plus the story of the primordial/timeless one with the lore of the precursors is both horrifying and a touch sad. Hiddenexperia made great videos of them. Go check them out as quick as you can before The Flood return.

Most of the Forerunner lore is from The Forerunner Trilogy by Greg Bear. My favourite one is Primordium, the second one, which is set on the same Halo ring in Halo Infinite.

Well yes in halo 1 they were kinda dumb creatures cause they didn't really have a grave mind yet, however if they are able to get the mass to make a grave mind (or worse multiple graveminds) they can become quite a force.

The Precursors are the supreme beings in the galaxy, their mission was to seed other galaxies with life, creating life from matter and (pretty much inter-dimensional) space travel. They were quite literally the gods the Covenant would worship, but in a few million years in our galaxy, the Forerunners killed them off, and in the next million their legacy was reduced to Forerunner fairy tales. Despite all this, the Precursor technology still outlasted and outpaced all others... until the Halo array was fired.

I really hope for a big forerunner dlc or something for Halo Infinite where we either meet mendicant bias or go to Maethrillian, I would love to see one or both of them

He was a man who fought in 3 different armies, Finnish, German SS and the US special forces in Vietnam. There's soo much intriguing lore in Halo, the books are amazing. My favourite and the lore I hope they touch on more is ancient humanity, hell I hope we see ships and weapons of theirs at some point, but that's wishful thinking.

An ok, primordials, are what the flood were, f I remember right, they became a powder thing to put last the forerunners in a losing war, the break down of said powdered primordial, led to the flood, the literally degenerate primordials. I could be a bit off, but from what I remembered that’s the basic outline.

Also a lot of this information wasnt created after Halo 3 as a lot of it is in the terminals on the levels that took place on the ark

You just gotta find “Flood lore/Flood origins” the primordials are just basically halos most advanced ancient aliens who become the flood… somehow. They’re like eldritch monsters in that their technology and their minds can basically let them do anything. The Halo rings which are what the entire games revolve around stored everything’s dna and also destroyed all organic life to stop the flood from spreading and make them die out. Those floating robots are forerunner robots and they put them incharge of whatever on the rings it doesn’t really matter. That’s why you’re one of the robots in forge. And yes it is hilarious that the forerunners who are so much more advanced then us had so much more trouble containing the flood then we did. We didn’t even have the hindsight
