Tower build and Antenna Install for Dan (KC9IKI) - This Tower was installed over a 2 Day Timeframe - Originally it was supposed to be a 50ft tower but due to limitiations of our lift and due to the fact that I didn't want to guy this tower it seemed better to stick at 40ft of tower to be freestanding with this antenna - We made a few adjustments along the way - The Mast pipe alone weighed in a 65lbs and when we tried to put it up installed on the top section of tower with the rotor it was way to heavy to manage so we decided to put the mast in after the top section of tower was installed. The first day of installation got rained out soon after the top section of tower was installed, so we had to try again the next day to finish the installation. This is a tri-band beam (20 - 15 - 10 meters). After the antenna was up, the first contact made was in Hungary (Europe) and then second contact was in Rome, Italy. The Antenna Work Great!

I love watching these videos I'm wondering if everybody survived this project. As a retired professional tower erector that worked for a company called Stann & associates out of Park Ridge ILL. I amazed more hams don't wind up hurt or worse killed . You have enough concrete for a much larger tower and that Rohn 25 needs to be guyed as it's being erected not afterwards also if that is a Rohn EF 2545 ginpole the rope goes down the inside of the pole for the down line their has been to many hams seriously hurt fooling with towers we never did tower work for hams they usually want you to cut corners . W e put up one tower for the ham club at northwestern u

Rohn say it will freestand at 40 ft, with a 3x3x3 foot deep, am I wrong?

Good job, few rough points but you got it done and everybody went home. I did mine a little different, other than no lift. I empted for 2 more sections of mast and put my rotor closer to the ground

"ford nut" How about plain old nut? You, like others here, apparently didn't bother to read his caption. " but due to limitations of our lift".

Nice video - but if that is Rohn 25, should be guyed or house bracketed at 20ft and then guyed at 40ft. Check Rohn catalog. You see how wavy it was with just you touching the tower at 30ft level when you were trying to add another 10ft. Guy now or be worried with any gusty wind or worse.

I would venture a guess that it has still not been guyed.

We put up a tower over a year ago using a lift. However each section were hoisted by a Gin pole and only guided and tightened by the crew in the bucket. We went 40 ft as well. The Gin pole makes it a safer operation. The antenna was installed on the last section before hoisting it up

from the way it looked, the top section with rotor and mast and 2 operators might have been a little much for the lift. Other wise I can't understand why they had it going up and came back down only to do the top without the mast. And would have had the rotor wired on the ground.

Oh my...... credit for having a go at this, but please please be careful to pay attention to your safety. Please guy the tower and stay off the boom lift. Good luck with the DX but no QSO is worth dying for.....

That is way to much concrete, you don't need that large of a hole for a Rohn 25 tower at 40 ft.. 3x3 ft area would have been enough especially if you guy wire it. With that large antenna it needs to have guy wires.

При хорошем прохождении будет работать,высота маловата. под такую мачту ненужно бетонировать.

I had to stop watching this. These are the types of Hams that sooner or later are spoken of in the past sense.
