This brief demo shows how the Arcom RC-210 repeater controller can remotely control radios. Additionally, I modified a Kenwood TM271A to allow remote memory scan control. The video was done while the equipment was on my workbench.
The "how to" details are here: www.theradioroom.net/projects/...

Does the controller accept DTMF tones over the air or does it require a cable for DTMF?

The RC210 controller accepts the dtmf command over the air.

Is the cable from the rc210 that blue one going into the 271 mic jack or did u run it in the back to those solder pads ?
@ShawnDienhart
@ShawnDienhart Год назад
Hi Bill, Actually both, there are two cables needed. The first is a cable from the solder pads to the controller which is done via a DB9 cable that provides the rx/tx/COS and ptt functions. The second is the blue cable plugged into the mic jack and connects to the data connector on the RC210 to provide the frequency manipulation. Here's an old video that shows some of the above. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uezlGhx2hEE.html Thanks for asking.

Slick. Where is this functionality used in practice?

These radios are installed on a mountain top as a repeater/remote base. The 2 meter radio is used to scan the band remotely from my QTH, or elsewhere, and the 440 radio is a half-duplex link to another mountain top repeater/remote base. More info here: www.theradioroom.net/hamradio/remotebase.html
