Oh, how I covet this glorious radio! My question however, is about model designations. When I sesrch the ads, I see various configuragions. There’s a “Lincoln II Plus”. Then there’s a “Lincoln II Plus D”. And a “Lincoln II Plus v3”. 😮I’ve seen all these advertised, but scarcely anything given about the differences. At one time the Lincoln II made a big deal about advertising that it was n “Now II Plus” by putting a red star decal on the box, and a few words of upgrade. But, that seemed to be a few years back. I read about expansion of receptionn via adding another band, but am confused if that’s a factory thing or an after market thing. I see a few expansion ads and they always seem to uniformly charge $40 for the upgrade service. 🤷🏻♂️🤷♀️
Great little radio! I love it. I've made a lot of wonderful DX contacts with it on 10 meters. I live in New Jersey. I've made contact with Australia, South Africa and Reunion Island from the mobile. The antenna that I use is a vintage (25+ year old) K40 mag mount cut for 10 meters. I also had the HTX-10 in the mobile and replaced it with the Lincoln II plus about three years ago. Little word of advice do not change the mic on that radio. From experience and from what I've read, the mic and the radio are perfect match. Enjoy the radio and solar cycle 25. I don't need one but I want one! I have similar features and power with the Anytone AT-6666 but no 12 meter. Ranger has 12m but limited Scan and is just kinda boring. The Lincoln has the classy display plus all those cool bells and whistles. BTW: Let's all use 12 meter when we can, it's under-used but so fun when it's open.
i contacted new zealand years ago using a cobra 148gtldx and a silver rod with only the power out of the back of the radio and nothing more nothing less
