Yes I have known quite a few Catholics who are somewhat antisemitic and as a Protestant myself I found it confusing. Eventually a professor explained it was because Catholics traditionally blamed the Sanhedrin (Jewish priests) for the crucifixion whereas Protestants blamed the Romans. And this impacted their attitudes. However the Catholic Church ended up changing its policy/ position a few decades ago to hold the Romans responsible
