Hamas on December 8 claimed that it had foiled an operation of the Israel Defense Forces to rescue hostages held in Gaza. Hamas said that an attempt by IDF to rescue soldier Saar Baruch had resulted in the latter's death. Hamas said that many Israeli soldiers part of the rescue team also died. The IDF confirmed that it had undertaken a rescue operation but did not reveal for whom. The Israel military said that two of its soldiers were severely injured, and that no hostages could be rescued as part of the mission. Watch the full video for more.

I also want to point out that the usual forces tasked to do hostage/POW rescue belong to their special forces not just ordinary infantry. Even IDF so called best unit is getting it's ass kicked by bunch of guys wearing flip flops with only homemade rpgs and just AKs, no tanks, no jet fighters, no satellite, no helicopters.

Well the Israeli special forces are good... But the secret has been out. And their specialty was formerly rescue and assassination... Typically affordable if softer targets... Gaza is Jewish land. Look up Gaza synagogue in Wikipedia: "The ancient synagogue of Gaza was built in 508 CE during the Byzantine period"...that's 150 years before the Muslim conquest. The site was discovered in 1965 by Egyptian archaeologists and includes a mosaic of King David.

Actually the unit that attempted the rescue probably belongs to their special forces like the Sayeret Metkal, and that what makes it very humiliating. Despite the IDF bombing Gaza to kingdom come, despite their tanks, satellite and AI surveillance, state of the art electronic communications. IDF is best Army ( Self Proclaimed) but these they are a bit nervous due to Orphaned, half starved, those who are fighting in Tea shirts with bandaids on their heads. This Army of Orphans n half fed , oppressed Suppressed n tortured for decades called Al AQssam will become their doom.
