I like pin-down for thumb-in players, or short-pin for no-thumbers on this one.

Honestly could see having two. A short 90x2x40 for early and a stronger 55x4.5x30 for once the short just isn’t digging enough. Though I’m not sure it’d be necessary with the cohesion. One might do it.

Short pins aren't usually earlier, they just feel earlier because they are thrown in friction. That said, two different layouts on Effect would cover a WIDE range of conditions!

@@BowlingBuckosh right. I suppose it was a bit of a misnomer. Thank you for the correction. I was using it more as early in play, first game or so, rather than early on the lanes front to back. Which would be the proper application of the term, instead of how I used it.

I agree! It's a surprising amount of total hook, so not that different in total boards, but certainly more clean and sharp

Hey Brian I was trying to get back into bowling and really like what I'm seeing with this ball. I wanted to know which other ball you think will compliment this ball. I only plan on having 2 balls and a spare ball. So the other ball would have to work when the Hammer Effect doesn't.

Would need a bit more info on your playing style and what you normally bowl on. There are so many options. Generally, probably a weaker symmetrical ball

Theorem vs Effect where do you place them in the bag?

The Effect slows down faster in the midlane and hooks more downlane. The Theorem is cleaner and sharper as a small step down

I really want one… however I feel it’s a big ball for a house shot. Maybe I’ll run it with a low flare layout. I’m a righty two hander plenty of rev rate. What would be a good layout to consider.

in this case i recommend a pin-down layout for thumb-in players, or a short-pin layout for no-thumb bowlers. you can pair this with a long drilling angle (1st angle) for later revving, or a shorter drilling angle for an early/blendy look depending where you want to put it in your lineup.

How would you compare this to a versatile drill layout on a Radical ZigZag? I'm stuck between the two and I'm trying to find something between the Original Envy / Hammer Scandal (yes I still use it) and lower end of a Raw Pearl for when my house shot burns up and I move right. Thanks for your videos and input!

ZigZag hooks a little more in the midlane and is a little smoother on the backend. Effect still has a secure midlane, but slows down a lot more at the backend and changes direction harder. Effect is a small step up from ZigZag, but Effect's total hook is more at the backend.

i think so! it might be a step down as a later day ball from something more aggressively sanded, but for a shiny ball, you won't get much better for this style.

Bring back the Jigsaw Trap medium mass bias core Rg2.49 .58diff .14mb Or the high mass bias jigsaw core less diff but .20mb

The Gasmask numbers are right on top of Trap, and the Effect goes above it like the Jigsaw, so no need at this time.

How would this ball compare to the envy tour pearl?

the Effect has quite a lot more flare potential and a stronger cover. The Envy Tour Pearl will be longer, and have a quicker hook window down lane, meaning it might be a little sharper, but it will cover noticeably fewer boards. Effect will cover more backend, but might not be as sharp.

Effect is a small step down with a much longer/stronger reaction, but overall they are both toward the top of the bag.

Effect is more midlane and more backend! Usually it's just one or the other. 2.0 Hybrid is a small step down.

I studied a materials science engineering at Ohio State, learned Solidworks for CAD design, my family owned a bowling center and pro shop, and we are family friends of the late great Mo Pinel.

no physical chart. Hammer does have strength ratings with the ball/core images on their website. if you have questions about specific balls in relation to each other, i can help answer those.
