Was wondering what sort of drilling tool you’re using? Would you be able to provide a link to it? Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed it.

I absolutely love your designs! Do you have any advice on websites/shops to buy good quality beads & wire in the UK? :)
@LilyTree
@LilyTree 6 лет назад
Thank you! I have quite a stock of beads from my JewelleryMaker days so I'm still testing out good suppliers for new beads. For wire, I tend to get most of mine from wires.co.uk - the copper is lovely and soft and I haven't had any problems with it or the service at all.

Hello! Beautiful earrings, could you please tell me about the Dremel attachments you used to finish up your pieces?
@LilyTree
@LilyTree 6 лет назад
Thank you MissKirin6! 😊 It isn't a Dremel, but the attachments will be similar. In this video I use my favourite combination of silicon rubber wheels, 3M Radial Polishing Discs and a wool polishing mop with Luxi polishing compound. These are all included in my video on polishing and finishing, so that might be worth a watch: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ynBCR6igKJM.html

Hi there. Thank you for all your informative videos. I’ve tried making these but keep having trouble when it comes to drilling the holes. I have one question. Does the annealing step also help with drilling the hole? Does it make it easier? I am having all sorts of problems. Even though I am using a dremel drill press. I haven’t annealed my earrings though maybe I should do that step as well….. thank you again for all your videos.

Hi. Annealing will definitely help soften your metal once it has been work hardened by hammering. It should make drilling easier.

What kind of hammer are you using to flatten the wire? Thanks!
@LilyTree
@LilyTree 6 лет назад
It's a raising hammer - it is slightly rounded in one direction so it helps control the way the metal spreads. A normal flat hammer will also be okay for these earrings, it will just flatten in all directions so the wire will lengthen as well as widen.

Could you tell us more about the torch and it’s specifications please ?
@sophiew1967
@sophiew1967 6 лет назад
Hi.depending on how hard your metal is you could get away with buying a simple blowtorch that is used in the kitchen for making creme brulee hard sugar caramel topping .Amazon sells small blowtorch very cheaply 😊,often improvising can be fun,nicest very soft sheet copper to emboss is found by cutting open a tube of tomato puree and is soft enough to emboss with an old girl that has run out of ink!

An old girl? Pen? Biro?

Sorry I don't understand you? Yes Biro ,a ball point pen does it matter ?I'm 50 ,don't have a grey hair or a single line on my face I'm glad to say :)

What are you using to seal the flame colored metal with? We've tried Renaissance Wax and also Protecta Clear but the violet tones seem to get lost. Want to be sure customers are guaranteed a product that lasts with wear, you know?
@tlojewelrylove
@tlojewelrylove 2 года назад
Are you referring to the bright, rich, deep, violet tones? Oh wow, if so, that's disappointing. 😩 I recently purchased Protectaclear and afterwards I discovered flame painting so I used it on a pair of flame painted earrings that had lavenders, golden, and greens and it was fine. It didn't seem to lose its effect but I haven't flame painted anything else with end results in other colors because I'm waiting on new and decent saw blades. Thanks for mentioning this. I'll take notice next time I make (and seal) a pair of earrings. 😊

Hey so did you get the color simply by using the torch?

Love these earrings. Sometimes, depending on the occasion and outfit, all you need is a tiny flash of shine around your face. These earrings are perfect for that. I see you annealed mid-way. Wondering if you annealed before hammering the ends.

What is the solution you are dipping the hot metal into? a pickling pot?
