We set out towards the Tennessee mountains at 6:30 Saturday morning on the first weekend in March. The weather had been perfect all week; sunny, dry, in the mid 70’s, and this weekend was no different. We hung a right on the first forest service road at around 8:00 am, just north of the Hiwassee River in Appalachia, TN. We crossed into North Carolina for a while before easing back into Tennessee at Unicoi Gap where the Benton MacKaye Trail crosses the road. We came out of the woods at the Coker Creek Welcome Center and took a right on Hwy. 68 for a quick 1.1 mile jaunt up the two lane before taking a right on Lower Smithfield Road and winding our way past 5 acre fields and rustic log cabins. We rode up the mountain to the Wauchessi Fire Tower at an elevation of 3,684 feet. We rode north and took a right on River Road in the Tellico River Gorge. Then we followed Turkey Creek Road to the Indian Boundary Lake and Recreation Area and then rode up the. Cherohala Skyway to Turkey Creek Overlook where we ate lunch. After lunch we extensively explored the roads around the Citico Creek Wilderness Area and in the Tellico Wildlife Management Area. Finally, settling on a spot we created across Doublecamp Creek, we set up our hammocks for the night. Noah and Aaron built a good looking fire ring and some primitive chairs with river rocks. Aaron brought some deer steaks, red potatoes, and broccoli that he cooked over the fire in his cast iron skillet. We woke up to a pleasant 60 degree morning by the creek, ate some oatmeal, and broke camp. Again heading north, we set our sights on the Tenasi Memorial and the Chota Memorial on the southern banks of the Little Tennessee River, west of Tallassee, TN. It was a long ride with beautiful scenery and interesting places to visit and the weather was perfect. Thanks for watching.

Great trip. That was really cool seeing the kayakers. I love kayaking white water. Loved the Waterfalls and beautiful creeks. You had a great spot for a hammock hang. Really cool 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah, I didn’t plan the kayakers coming by, seeing them got me itching to get my canoe and kayak in the water. That water up in the Citico Wilderness Area and Tellico WMA was some of the most crystal clear water I’ve ever seen. Thanks for enjoying the video man 💯🤙

Nice relaxing trip. Future tip to help with your location when you don't have cell service, Google Maps has an offline maps feature and you can save the area you are going to be in, and even if you are out of cell range the GPS still functions. Works with iPhone and Android.

I did not know that. I’ve always wished they had that feature. I’m about to look into that. That would be incredibly helpful. Thanks for the tip 💯🤙
