Great father-son experience. He will talk about this for years to come. Children love adventure and nature. You are right to say more people, (young) should be doing this. Great video.
Went camping there in that same area when I was a kid with my dad and uncle charlie in an open area off the side of the road called Butler fields during the winter with snow on the ground!! Great memories!!
Hay Hay Caleb & Noah Great Seeing A Post From Ya'll ! What An Adventure Shared Here ! Great Memories ! Really Enjoyed This, Tuned In From The Maritimes On The East Coat In Canada ! ATB T God Bless
I've been wanting to go to this...I'm in Ringgold and I have always heard about this.I have a mild obsession with trains and tunnels...Another cool tunnel with a crazy story. I lived in Richmond in Church Hill and the Church Hill Tunnel was right beneath me I'd walk by the closed up entrance everyday I walked down the hill to work....Also Nashville's underground tunnels that were used during prohibition. Every building downtown that is over 100 years old has an entrance to the tunnels in the basements
im an 60/40 offtrail packer from the n.c/s.c. line not far from g.a. we need to talk. im sure we could trade some secret local hush holes and hilltops. the kind ya leave no trace cus ya don't want it to get out... love your vids
Man I am 56 years old but this video brought me back to camping trip with my Dad in late 70s early 80s my son who is now 22 we really enjoy camping together and sharing stories about my Dad and trips Keep posting. Your son will cherish this video years from now.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It sounds like you and your son have a good thing going. Don’t let life get in the way of living! Keep making those memories and sharing the old ones. Thanks for watching 💯🤙
The rattler was cool. I just discovered the tunnel on Google map. I'll be in that area and will probably go see I I can find it. I did hear it was becoming a bit dangerous now, with the falling chunks and brick, so I'll only take a peek inside from a safe distance.
3 of my friends and I did the entire etowah in 9 days back in 09. We went through the mine tunnel in day 1 with 5 days worth of gear, crazy times. Dawsonville is my favorite stretch on the upper etowah
It’s my favorite stretch too. Cleaner water, swifter water, just enough shoals to keep it fun and interesting but still easy enough to relax and enjoy it. I would love to do the whole river in one trip someday. Thanks for watching 💯🤙
I received a trespassing warning here. Well worth it though. The owner will sometimes watch the premises and get law enforcement involved. You go back up to your vehicle to find a cop car beside your truck😂😂😂
I thoroughly enjoyed the YT with your son Noah. What a fine gentleman he’ll be. I moved from Sugar Hill, GA about 8 years ago and moved to ST Augustine, FL. Boy do I miss living in GA where I lived for 11 years. I sold my 2 kayaks when I moved down and I’m now in the process of buying a new one at REI. I have kayaked the Chatahoochi in Suches and also took it down Etowah above Allatoona. I showed a brief part of your video to my wife, me 72 and her 66 now. She said let’s go shoot the arrows and go back up into the Blue Ridge again. I’m stoked and hopefully we’ll find a good weather window to camp too. I’m sorry I’ll have to go back and find your name, but thank you for your inspiration and fine video and my best to your family. With regards, Steve & Pat
Yes sir, thank you for watching and enjoying our video. I think yall should definitely come back up here and do a few good floats together. You’d have a blast and the memories will last yall the rest of your life!
Yeah the trail you are talking about follows the ridge line and dead ends at some private property. I’ve been to the end of it. Very narrow trail, nowhere to get turned around so you’ll have to back all the way out if you get to the end. There’s really nothing worth seeing down that way, the overlook is as good as it gets.
July 2024 I passed the front of the trail, the sign that the forest service officers put up was taken down and there where a few trees fallen over the trail we’ll see if they gate it up eventually I hope they don’t because it’s one of my favorite lookouts in north Georgia
I noticed the gutters right off, I think they were so long to allow for a water barrel further from the house but would not damage the house itself. Beautiful home I am in a wheelchair and happy to be able to see such a beautiful piece of history and home life as it truly was. They must have really struggled in winter. Thank you and your son, be safe!
That’s very possible! Folks in those days surely had animals and gardens that needed water. I hope you understand how sincere I am when I say that I’m honored to have been able to bring you along on our adventure and I’m so glad you appreciate this historic architecture as much as we do 💯👍
Would be interesting to compare location of this cabin to Civil War troop movement to see how close Donley and his cabin perhaps ever came to being discovered during the war.
I did the math one time buying firewood by the bundle like that For around nine dollars to eleven or twelve dollars here in vermont equals out to a lot per One cord, which is a 4 foot by 4 foot by 8 foot long. There is in between $811100. Can you imagine making eight hundred dollars off one C o r d of firewood
I would love to metal detect around that area. Excellent video, very beautiful scenery, legendary epic amazing beautiful, your name, it's there. I use voice text
Going good work man. I live in the area and need to find places to take be 3 boys under 10. Your videos are great source for me. I'll see if I can reserve this cabin for a night, the kids would LOVE it
Love all of your directions. Wish everybody who makes similar videos did the same. Have been planning to head up that way to run some trails and I'll definitely start with this one first because of you
That’s awesome man! I’m glad my videos are helpful. Same as you, I’ve always been frustrated watching people post content of great looking spots but never mention where they are or how to get there. I try to be as specific as possible in all my videos on where I am and how to get there so other folks can get out there and have the same incredible experience my son and I had 💯👍
From highway 193, turn onto Estelle Mines Road. Go approximately 1.5 miles. There will be a road that cuts back to the left. Once you turn left you’ll immediately be able to see the entrance to the tunnel straight ahead. Good luck 💯🤙
