Great video Ben and explanation and demo of the IK Multimedia B3-X! Greetings from down under Australia. Have you managed to map other controllers on the B3-X app e.g Chorus /Vibrato and percussion settings (other than just drawbars) with Nord Stage 3 compact or Hammond SKPro? If so could you please explain the procedure to a lesser, novice IT and app user? Regards 🎹😀
I’m currently a few days into skipping into this video. I own a SK1 and I’m jaw slackened that this app is in every single way better than anything my SK1 can produce. The sounds are mesmerising 😧 I’m now planning my move to buying this whole package.
It is astonishingly good! I had a new SKX Pro and I still thought B3X was better. If you already have a computer, the plug-in is available on Mac and pc as well.
@@benallen5967 I’m blown away in a second every time I revisit this video. To think it even trumps the SKX is unreal ! I’ve always been a hardware musician - and a dinosaur - but I’m now in the process of completely revamping my touring rig to suit an iPad and apps. The B3X is first on my list along with the Korg Module. I have you to thank for all of this! 🙌
@@mattwharton5939 fantastic! If I can help in any way, do let me know. I’ve spent way too much on iOS apps, but I think I’ve found some gems in the massive pile of junk. Grab VB3, which even works on your phone, and is way way cheaper. It’s unbelievably good for $14. Godisopen at GM if you want to reach out directly.
@@mattwharton5939 Hammond B3-x is a very good choice. If it’s cost of $130 at 1.1GB was a bit high for you, VB3m at $14 and only 9.5MB. Would be a very acceptable alternative. I own both of these software Hammond Apps. You can’t go wrong with either one. And, there are far better Apps for good pianos, EPS, clavs, etc. than Korg Module. I have it along with several IAPs. I never use it.
Help! The app is totally unresponsive when plugged into my M-Audio Keystation. Works on iPad but ignores my controller even when it’s selected in Channels. 😢
Everyone has different taste, but I love Pianoteq 8 for piano. It has nice Rhodes available too. The Rhodes company came out with a vst recently, which I’m sure is great. I’m happy with Rhodes on my keyboard though.
how do you connect the controller keyboard? My iPad has a C port and no headphone output. I’m thinking for live performance using my CP88. Apologies if this has already been addressed 😬
All good! Yes, I would use one USB A to USB-C adapter and plug from the CP88 into the iPad. Make sure you've got it charged up first, and you should have no problems.
They must be tuned into how people are using iPads for live performances. $130 for iPad vs $40 for Mac/PC. I see your DSP is pretty consistently at least 25-30%. That is just with this loaded? Can I ask if that is an M1 or better iPad?
This is the first iPad Pro with the M1 chip in it. And I was just shocked to see that you are correct about the price for Mac/PC, but they used to cost the exact same.
Not sure what to tell you on that... the organ is modeled, and cannot go out of tune unless you have some kind of midi controller assignment being adjusted, which changes the pitch.
Make sure, in the ‘Stomps’ section, that you don’t have the ‘Chorus’ effect switched on at a slow sweep. If it is on a slow sweep and the intensity knob is turned up high enough, it could definitely cause a tuning drift affect.
Hello Ben. This is such a great review of B-3X. Thank you. I have the software for my setup (Yamaha P-125B / L1-P1 foot pedal / iPad Pro). I would like to know the other software you are integrating with the B-3X that offers other instruments and sounds. I am limited to the voices I have built into my Yamaha. I see one as Ravenscroft (piano?). But what are the others that allow you voices / sounds by name please? Thanks.
