Hampton Yachts’ 658 Endurance LRC was designed and built with safety, comfort, and efficiency as a goal. Hampton describes the result as a “new and unique” combination of these objectives, which “few... in this size range embody.”
High efficiency across a range of speeds combined with safety and comfort was what Naval Architect and professional engineer Howard Apollonio looked to produce, and the bedrock of that is the Hampton Hybrid Hull. This hull is a further development of a design Apollonio has been working on since 1977. Starting with a concept that has the lower chine taper off moving forward, through to further changes of the upper chine -- all borne of extensive tests and research -- have produced a hull to meet or exceed the Weather Criterion stability standards issued by the United States Coast Guard for licensed passenger vessels in exposed water service (Subchapter S CFR 46 Part 170.170) and stability criteria of the IMO (Chapter 3 .1 General Intact Stability Criteria).
